In this video, I'm going to walk you through the process of applying reverb to a whole mix, step-by-step.
I'm going to demonstrate on a real-world track right in front of you.
If you've seen loads of videos about reverb online, but aren't really sure how it all ties together and how to apply it to a real-world track: watch now.
This clip is actually an extract from one of our recent live streaming sessions as part of Home Studio University.
So, if you want to see a whole mix start to finish, be sure to check that out: join.musiciano...

I've also never seen someone apply reverb to entire mix to get timing and tone of verb down that was really interesting and helpful

I would love to see a tutorial from you going through mixing reverb on an electronic music track containing mostly synths, drum machine, sounds etc. Because a lot of these sounds are dry, or come with baked-in reverb, and there's no expectation of what sort of reverb/delay space they should inhabit in the real world, it's surely different theory wise applying reverb than it would be to a track with acoustic instruments. It'd be great to get your insight into the decisions you would make to get a mix with said instrumentation to sound harmonious, 3 dimensional and all-around great using reverb.

Dude really cool how you tested the whole mix going into 1 reverb as a way for finding what suits the vibe of the track better. I like how its an inherently 'less is more' approach to using reverb that because of its simplicity will create more cohesion within a mix. Awesome!

Reverb is a struggle for me. Its perfect with only one sound, when I add another sounds its become bad sounding.

There's one thing that's ultimately very confusing abt using sends. Some people use the sends to choose the amount of reverb while some people send a full 0db signal and adjust the reverb fader. What is the correct way to do this or is it different mindset of applying effects?

I'm currently very struggling with reverb. Bc without it, the song sounds dull. But y song is made out of a big orchestra, with big distorted guitars, a deep bass guitar, slamming drums, multiple one men choirs doing different stuff at the same time, and with foreground vocals. And yeah I didn't have any problems with reverb until I started to do the vocals. The reverbs of the 2 vocal layers really seem to cloud up the mix and hide some of the orchestra or de melody guitars.

Hi love the video, as always ive been watching a while and learning so much! I have one question (which isnt particularly related to this video); when working with guitars in logic, should i add pedals/ effects (such as phase, delay vibrato etc.) before mixing while recording the guitar, or should i send a clean guitar signal to a bus and then add the effects there? Thanks!

Hey maybe you or someone in the comments can help me.
I am alwways struggling with the decision wether to use reverb on a send track, with one reverb for every instrument in the mix, or should I use different reverbs on different groups/busses? Should I use reverbs as insert effects? Different reverb for vocals, top drums, synths etc.? What if I wanna use reverb as a creative effect, make the snare sound super long and far away, the rest of the mix almost dry? Every I read, use this on guitar, use this on vocals, but how the f*** should I do this when I am using just one reverb bus? :D
You see, I am very confused about reverb in my mix, I hope that somebody has some good tips for me.
    Thank you!
