Last week, I unboxed the Soft Flex Book Lovers Design Challenge Kit live with my Jewel Box members. In this video, I share the unboxing segment and dive into creating a charming bookmark and a delicate necklace using the kit's beautiful beads.

    Hi there!
I’ve looked into the bead boxes, but often the cost of shipping is prohibitive. I do think I’d use them, but there are times I look at past boxes and think I’d probably not use everything. That’s the joy with subscription boxes…sometimes you win, other times not so much!
I like the necklace you designed. Very pretty

Thank you Marjorie. Yes, I always end up with orphans but will put them together with other things. Shipping to New Zealand is prohibitive so I only get those that are sent to me free.

I have beads that I bought right in the beginning of my beading journey, which were all wrong for what I love making. Given a lot to the local people who bead and love them.

I did that too when I first started. I've given most of them away now too. That's nice of you.

Hello Carol, another super video...thank you.
Living in the middle of Africa I can't possibly order any of those beautiful beads...but I do have a book mark, from a previous visit to South Africa, where I have a couple of bead shops/suppliers. Will see if I can make something as pretty as yours...

Thank you. I can imagine your location could be a problem. I know how hard it is to get things here in New Zealand. Good luck with your project.

Love the necklace. I have looked at the bead boxes but they all include very expensive postage so I haven't bought any, yet.

Thank you Dianne. We were just having a discussion about this in the Jewel Box group yesterday. Lots of the ladies in the US buy them but one from New Zealand does and she said the same thing. That's why I very rarely buy them.

@@The_Stylish_Maker The postage to Australia is really a joke so I may look for an option closer to home.

Beautiful necklace Carol! I get the Softflex kit once in awhile, but I do get Bargin Bead Box every month as well as Dollar Bead Box/Bag. I do use the beads. I use 22g wire to make components for my necklaces. Would 20g wire be better?

Thank you Celeste. We were just having a discussion about bead boxes in the Jewel Box group yesterday. The consensus was that the Bargain Bead Boxes were the best value for money and also had the best beads. Jesse James bead boxes came up as the worst. You can use 22 gauge wire but if you're using heavier beads, I would use 20 gauge.
