The Gloom Hands maybe a lot scarier than the Guardians but I honestly prefer the Guardian fights. You can get more experimental and prepare for them. The Gloom Hands just randomly show up and all you can really do is bomb them to death and then kill Phantom Ganon.
Or hear me out: a cobbled together Power Rangers styled amalgamation of all four divine beasts being puppeteered by a colossal, writhing mass of gloom using all four of the guardians' abilities against you
TotK’s team looked at Dead Hand’s general infamy amongst the LoZ community and really thought to themselves “Hey, what if we take this high octane nightmare fuel of a creature and make it even _more_ terrifying?”
Nah. Deadhand wasn't all that scary because the first one in the well was an optional fight and both deadhands are restricted to their dungeons plus they have a tell. These are in the overworld and you won't even know they're there until it's too late
The first time i saw those hands when i was trying to get to korok forest. As soon as the music started i frame 1 exited the game and booted up smash bros
The terrain makes all the difference with those things. Flat and open? Swig a speed potion and run for dear life. At least until you can get a lead on them? I got lucky once where I was up on a decent ledge in this cave... so I could bomb it to bits.
My first experience with this thing during my first play through was when i just so happened to be heading to rito village after coming off of the sky island. In the middle of Hyrule field. Ive played many horror games but nothing has given as much fear as those damn gloom hands.
I'd rather fight a guardian because they are easy to me now... Gloom hands are a random encounter and if you can kill them (unlikely) they spawn Phantom Ganon.

I actually miss the Guardians, now. At least they didn't become your worst nightmare out of nowhere, and become a LITERAL REPLICA OF THE MAIN ANTAGONIST.
Guardians were, looming intimidating, threats, that you knew needed extreme skill to beat, but you felt extremely great after beating one. I had to change my pants after my first encounter with Gloom Hands.
Actually having fought against both, gloom hands would still be my choice for a battle! They’re completely helpless against fire (pretty much 3 bomb flowers take care of them) and phantom Ganon dies to 2 flurry rushes with any royal weapon with a half decent attack (a royal halberd fused with black boko horn was more than enough for me). Guardians I struggled against because the parry timing I could never get right 😭 the only way I could take care of them was running like hell and chopping off the legs with a fully upgraded master sword.
Nothing spells fear like pleasantly wandering around, then the sky turns red & you realize its far too early for a blood moon & then the music starts 😭😭
The frantic piano from the Guardians will always make my heart jump, but the Gloom Hands music? It puts the fear of all gods and demons into my soul and makes me question whether or not simply jumping off the Great Plateau to my death is a bad option. Then I remember that I have a paraglider and I’m okay.
My first encounter with the gloom hands was at night. I thought it was a blood moon and had no idea what was happening until after I died, went back to the area, and finally saw them

Phantom Ganon: Now, who was foolish enough to harm my babies?
Link: Aw shit...
Every time I try to fight a gloom hand it just disappears.
Ancient arrows: am I a joke to you?
Breh i love how zelda never fails to make monsters that absolutely bring fear into your heart upon crossing paths
These totk animations are great please make more
Yeah for sure, I love making them, thanks man!
The Gloom Hands maybe a lot scarier than the Guardians but I honestly prefer the Guardian fights. You can get more experimental and prepare for them. The Gloom Hands just randomly show up and all you can really do is bomb them to death and then kill Phantom Ganon.
The full title of the creature: "The tiny lil red arm" of an enormous amalgamations of fear

Everyone’s reaction to first seeing a gloom hand chase you
TotK’s team looked at Dead Hand’s general infamy amongst the LoZ community and really thought to themselves “Hey, what if we take this high octane nightmare fuel of a creature and make it even _more_ terrifying?”
all we need now is a dead hand general attached to the gloom hands, and then BAM,you're never gonna sleep until the day you die!
Nah. Deadhand wasn't all that scary because the first one in the well was an optional fight and both deadhands are restricted to their dungeons plus they have a tell. These are in the overworld and you won't even know they're there until it's too late
I kill them for a daré i did
I kiled 8 alredy

The first time i saw those hands when i was trying to get to korok forest. As soon as the music started i frame 1 exited the game and booted up smash bros
i first saw them in a cave.
I feel so bad for link he didn’t even know
This is the exact feeling when a guardian pops up
I was surprised by guardians first time seeing them with the intense piano, laser pointer and speed, but with the gloom hands I was genuinely scared
The terrain makes all the difference with those things.
Flat and open? Swig a speed potion and run for dear life. At least until you can get a lead on them?
I got lucky once where I was up on a decent ledge in this cave... so I could bomb it to bits.
I guess I appreciate that the gloom hands can't snipe you, but guardians were WAY easier to run away from
If a guardian tries to snipe you, Just zr and parry. If the gloom hands trys to touch you. Your fucked
Ah yes. I miss the days of paragliding through the air and seeing that laser hit me 😅
@@chanmarr8118 Evasive maneuvers, when the light disappears turn away
@legion6211 If the gloom hands appear, throw about 3 bombs at them. They're dead now. Guardians and gloom hands are not that hard.
@@legion6211well, you can just teleport to a shrine or tower. Done that more than id like because the grabby, gloomy hands

Perfect guard/ shield parry: am i a joke to you?!
link sounds so exited when he chooses the little tiny red army
My first experience with this thing during my first play through was when i just so happened to be heading to rito village after coming off of the sky island. In the middle of Hyrule field. Ive played many horror games but nothing has given as much fear as those damn gloom hands.
my first time encountering those was in a random ass field, i was walking, saw the gloom, thought it was just normal gloom, than it happened.
I had a mini panic attack when I found the gloom hands for the first time.
For the red arm, he thought it would just be one arm that could be easy to defeat with a sword.
I still think that when you first fight a guardian was the most terrifying thing you can experience in a video game.
All I know is in both games my first reaction was NOPE (teleports)
i feel like meeting gllom hands for the first time is worst
I'd rather fight a guardian because they are easy to me now... Gloom hands are a random encounter and if you can kill them (unlikely) they spawn Phantom Ganon.
@@Chara_Dreemurr1 if you have bomb flowers they *could* be easy to defeat but my wimp brain says NOOOOOO
@@mallowwings974 what's a bomb flower? I have at all times. None because i can't find any. Also today I got Riju and Tulin. I am no going to focus on Sidon. Then after Sidon Yunobo. You can tell Tulin was meant to go first because his boss is so easy. YOU HAVE TO JUST FALL TO WIN! I FIRST TRIED IT! QUEEN GIBDO TOOK 20 TRIES!
I got to give props to Nintendo for introducing a wicked presence vibe with this enemy introduction.
Plus a twist after killing it too.
The first time I stumbled across a gloom hand I was like
*OH GOD FLOOR MASTERS*
Guardian strike more fear with the music but gloom hands you see them and if you don't get The high ground soon you know you're dead
The music from the guardian is scarier but the atmosphere and the enemy itself are scarier for the hands.
Edit: its called having an opposing opinion. Disagreement is a thing. Both made me soil my pants (metaphorically) when I first encountered them.
I find the guardian music actually really nice😅it's just the first seconds that are scary as f***💀
The music of the hands actually kills me every time😭 it's too intense for my heart
The guardian music used to frighten me but now its like an old friend
No way, The Gloom Hand music is definitely much more scary I like for the beginning I just sound like hell is about to go on leash
The gloom spawn music is way creepier, pair it with the atmosphere and have someone experiance it for the first time with no knowledge of the gloom spawn and yeah, scared me shitless.
I died to them the first time because I button mashed, saw link wasnt breaking free and was like "THIS ISNT WORKING" then died.
@@tinycoinfromholland1391 yes, and what is a guardian do play creepy piano music, gloom spawn, however has the power to change the sky and chase Link at a surprising speed
I actually miss the Guardians, now. At least they didn't become your worst nightmare out of nowhere, and become a LITERAL REPLICA OF THE MAIN ANTAGONIST.
Same
I love this so much!🤣 I enjoy the gloom hands they are the best part honestly. thrilling surprising and deadly
The fact that they grabbed me when I tried to jump off a cliff from them has scarred meeee
Guardians you can usually tell when one is around. Gloom hands will just pop out of no where and already be attacking you.
I still don't understand how they made something more terrifying than a bigass spider robot barreling it's way towards you
At least i aint getting lasered outta the sky trying to glide past a field
I like the gloom hands music :D
Guardians were, looming intimidating, threats, that you knew needed extreme skill to beat, but you felt extremely great after beating one.
I had to change my pants after my first encounter with Gloom Hands.
At least gardians warned us before strike ☠️.
Gaurdians scare me so much because of the laser sfx and the music makes me panick
I thought it was a blood moon and had no idea what was happening until after I died, went back to the area, and finally saw them
Mine was great plateau, I was ready to throw hands, and then realized that it(they?) were not stopping. They grabbed me and I died cause I had like 4 hearts. Is there a way to fight them without getting grabbed. No spoilers I picked up the game like 2 days ago
@@thecyanpanda241 as far as I’m aware, probably just keeping your distance and shooting as many arrows as possible into the eyeballs. I haven’t worked up the courage to face it yet, plus I’ve had what happens with them spoiled for me already and I’m terrified.
@@SeraliaAerials I'll try killing it from the high ground, but idk if I can outrun it, I'll try fire and maybe a sundelion cause sundelions purify gloom effects
The good news is that most of them will simply get bored and leave if you stay up out of their reach for long enough
Yeah iirc only the Deku Tree one won't do this but that's due to it being directly tied to a main quest
