Pedigree Query says Classic Mirage had a race record of 21:3-4-5 (starts, wins, 2nds, 3rds) and won $117,538. She is linked as dam of 9 foals born every years from 2011-2021 except 2017 and 2020. Her great grandsires are Nijinsky, Afleet, Seattle Slew, and Miswaki. Extremely well bred. Shame on whoever neglected and dumped her like this.
grew up in Kentucky---I have a history in horse rescue----common for thoroughbreds to be treated this way. horse racing is horrifying, abusive and immoral.
In 1990, my sister bough me a rescue horse, who she thought was about 13 years old due to his initial appearance. It turned out he was 7 years old and starving, with a horrible gash on his back leg caused by trying to get to food. Long story short, once he was wormed, fed, given the vet care he so desperately needed and LOVED, he went on to live another 25 years, transforming from an ill-mannered rocket to a grandchild safe kitten. Rescue horses are extremely grateful and amazing. Blessings to all who have a hand in helping these magnificent creatures get a 2nd chance in life.
The slaughter pipeline pisses me off so bad. It should be illegal for any animal to be treated with such disrespect. I won’t say more as it would get me arrested.

I got to see Classic Mirage race once when I was younger. She had such a strong gait. Beautiful and graceful. Rest in peace little dear, I'm sorry I didn't know any better sooner. 💚
Exactly. In Germany, an animal is legally a "thing", but most people here treat their things better than in the USA, where in some states, according to some old laws, you can still be hanged for horse theft.

Classic Mirage did her best for her owners including giving them more than $110000 in winnings and foal sales etc and was just thrown away like yesterday’s garbage shame on her owner(s) for dumping her into the slaughter pipeline. Squeezing every last cent out of her. I can see her young and beautiful full of life, loving it and proud. Now she has been degraded by humans who should have given everything to her for her best interests. How foolishly ridiculous and cruel that a many of these horses are in the condition they are.
I rehabbed a horse that lost a battle with a tornado. He had huge chunks just ripped out of him that reminded me of that little paint. I would have sworn there would always be huge indentations from all of the lost muscles, but he healed incredibly well. It was a long, expensive and labor intensive journey, but in the end you could see something had happened, but most wouldn't have noticed right away. He was an extremely well mannered horse that cooperated which was his saving grace. If he hadn't been, I know we wouldn't have gotten the results we did. If you can't handle them and they're too scared to use their self preservation instincts, they usually end up doing more damage to themselves to avoid treatment. That poor little paint was stunning and could have had a chance if he had been properly handled so he'd tolerate treatment. It's so upsetting and then they put him through hell instead of doing what they should have. Who knows, maybe he wasn't so scared and panicked at his home and could have handled some treatment with good sedation? You just never know how long they've been hauled around or the abuse they've suffered along the way between home and when they land at Horse Plus. It's not always the previous owner that neglected them and there are a lot of horse traders that scam people into thinking their horse is going to a great home just to get the price down so they can make a few bucks at the sale barn.

The real shame is in the way these race horses are treated if they don't bring in 'the money', which is why I have never liked any of the competitive sports. With her pedigree bloodlines, I suspect this poor girl was used up as a brood mare, prior to being dumped into the pipeline.

And yet they are able to get more horses out of the slaughter pipeline that are DELIVERED to their place, saving energy and time for the intake crew. I think it was a blessing to be tossed out of the auction house. They get more horses for less money plus it helps them with the overall cost (having people to go to the auctions and the wear and tear on the vehicles, PLUS having 2 vets available for intake). Recently attended a local sale to me. Well I went and saw a percheron colt with the same problems. So sad. I did recognize a rescue that you guys have worked with, and I have an application in on a filly they had rescued from a different auction! Another sick and concerning thing I also witnessed was a convicted serial animal abuser waltzing around like he owned the place...I made sure the rescue knows his face and getting ahold of local authorities as well. Don't know what else to do about a guy court ordered to not have contact with animals for 15 years re offended in the meantime and still waltzing around the sales bragging about whether or not he tattooed something he's known for doing to animals he's claimed to doctor. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO FOR THE HORES+! HAVE A GREAT DAY!!
every time i watch your videos it breaks my heart, why do people do this to these beautiful animals? can there owners not be found and charged with cruelty? thank goodness for you guys.
It was really really good to see Corey joining in. There is no doubt he is missed on so many levels. The horses waiting to be checked were calm and mostly haltered which hasn’t happened since he left. The horses were being hustled from place to place with heavy flagging and banging of the gates which in my opinion just scares the crap out of already frightened horses which just ups their fight or flight levels. Corey does the work of two people on any given day, surely he is worth his weight in gold? Miss you Corey ❤
A lot of the horses that have come through intake over the past couple of months are wild/unhandled horses. With these animals it's safer for everyone if they are minimally handled when going through intake. Have you been watching the horse gentlers with the totally wild ones, getting them calmed down in just a few hours? They're amazing at what they do.
Just looking at these precious creatures, i can't see how anybody could even think about doing any thing to these beautiful creatures! It make me so angry when i see a horse is in direr needs!🤫😐🤨

Heartbreaking to see many horses in bad conditions, some with old injuries and in pain 😢 Thank you dr Gina for easing their pain. You and dr Lydia are awesome vets, we love you. Was great to see Kory again. All the best to the rescuing horses, sorry for those that was in very poor condition and pain, The Last Act of Kindness was the best for these poor horses, no more pain. We miss dr Lydia
It's tough to see but we're working hard to give these horses the best possible lives.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
its a common issue with Percherons
This is just sooo painful to watch....😢
The buckskin attracts the eye. She has a natural beauty.
Makes you want to cry. I hope the owners are punished well.
Yay, hello Kory!!!
every time i watch your videos it breaks my heart, why do people do this to these beautiful animals? can there owners not be found and charged with cruelty? thank goodness for you guys.
Bless these animals
those are horrible horrible people, how on earth can they do it to living creatures. They have no souls.
Gosh, so good to see Kory ❤
It was really really good to see Corey joining in. There is no doubt he is missed on so many levels. The horses waiting to be checked were calm and mostly haltered which hasn’t happened since he left. The horses were being hustled from place to place with heavy flagging and banging of the gates which in my opinion just scares the crap out of already frightened horses which just ups their fight or flight levels. Corey does the work of two people on any given day, surely he is worth his weight in gold? Miss you Corey ❤
I think I spell his name incorrectly. Ooops. My bad. Sorry.
HEY KORY! SO NICE TO SEE YOU!
❤❤Dr. Gina and HP staff did an amazing job with this group of horses❤❤Bless you all for your hard work.❤❤

Yes. It was a painful intake wasn’t it. Very sad to see, poor ponies.
Proud to be a part of saving these horses from the slaughter house. I watched some of the horrific video you posted just to remind me how important the work you are doing is.
It is so important to spread the word about the horrors of the slaughter pipeline.
