    I've been a registered nurse for 26 years here in the Detroit area I've lived in Michigan my whole life yes I'm white I'm 53 years old and I'm a mother and a grandmother and I'm sorry but this is a bunch of b******* this is a lie that woman had 11 kids and I was never told with my children before I became a nurse about bleeding we don't just tell patients everything and shame on the nurses that dealt with these pregnant women ominous that likes to tell patients almost everything Always there's very few times in my opinion that something should be held back for a moment but that's it a moment this is a lie this is putting more division or trying to between the colors of the one race that we are all a part of it is called the human race my friends and we are all a different shade of that race enough enough God-made every single 1 of us our parents are Adam-and-Eve enough😊

      All I heard was a older white woman trying to gaslight the issues black women and girls face when in the hospital. This is not about division, this is about acknowledgement and advocacy for them in medical environments. Look at the stats and history.

      My first two babies where born in the hospital. I was not told about potential complications. My third was born at home and my midwife recommended several books for me to read. Really opened my eyes. I’ve had six babies and had bleeding issues with #4 & #6. My midwives told me that the risks rise with more pregnancies and age.
      However, my midwives were proactive about it, they were constantly talking with me about diet, exercise and mental/emotional health. My doctors didn’t counsel me about nutrition, other than to not smoke/drink and not be afraid to gain pregnancy weight.
      I think that is what is really missing, the one to one connection and setting the mother up for success.

      Because they don’t take care of the women properly. What they left out was a lot of those deaths are post partum. Not only do they have you mostly give birth on your back which is bad but they basically say congratulations and get out the hospital whereas some places like China and parts of Africa provide postpartum care for the first 30 days. I was amazed at learning about Chinese confinement. The west especially America is just thirsty for insurance claims. That’s why we need midwives we need mama aunty friends whomever that can help women after birth as well make sure the mother is getting a lot of rest and proper vitamins to restore her body. Traditional holistic medicine is just as important and we should apply it more to our care as well.

      It’s not just you but if you aren’t willing to dig deeper you’ll be stuck focused on the surface. It is true though the statistics are correct but I think it’s largely because they have turned healthcare into a business and focus strictly on profit. There also needs to be better processes to report negligent doctors.
      It shouldn’t matter race or the type of insurance you have people should have adequate healthcare. That’s why I didn’t mind driving 1 hour out the way for my care. U of M treated me like a human being (vs hospitals like St. John and DMC) regardless of the insurance I had. I didn’t care what color someone was either just help me and my baby.
      I also hope they only allow certified nurse midwives through this program. Please do not take advantage of people desperation and fear for profit and just hire any type of person who claims they’re “passionate about helping pregnant women”. They need to have actual knowledge and experience to give actual health advice otherwise they can also jeopardize the mother and baby

    As a white woman I experienced all of that when giving birth. So did most of my friends. They only explain complications when there are complications. They couldn’t possibly tell you every single problem you may run into. But there is no way the doctors didn’t tell her to call them if she experienced excessive bleeding. It’s on standard discharge paperwork. If you’re having a child you should be able to read. You also should’ve picked up at least one pregnancy book and educated yourself.

      My step-daughter (a white woman) lost 2 babies before the doctors told her that she had problems...her third pregnancy was by a black man (first two fathers where white)...that's when they told her that she had problems, and they took precautions to prevent the loss...she had a unhealthy baby boy...(all she ate back then was doritos and mountain dew)...
      This is not a black and white problem, it is a lifestyle issue...people are not teaching their children how to take care of themselves...
      Lack of proper diet and exercise is why these women are loosing babies...
      The don't need midwives to communicate, back and forth, with the doctors...they need someone to teach them proper, healthy, habits...
      Mind, body, soul...

    They turned healthcare into a business so unfortunately if you don’t have top notch insurance they don’t do much. They still apply the idea that black women can endure higher pain threshold so they ignore our complaints. That’s why I had all my children at one hospital I didn’t care how far I lived either I was making my way to U of M women’s hospital because I had excellent care whether on Medicaid or private insurance they also offer mid wives as well. This program is a great idea but the battle isn’t over. Hospitals need to be reformed and stop the greed so that it doesn’t matter your race or financial status, the goal should always be to save lives. We need more doctors (idc what race honestly) but it seems like OBGYN care is slacking ever since the pandemic a lot of doctors either walked away became over saturated with patients or was shutdown because of the mandate.

    Depending on the state you live in a midwife is no longer legal due the laws prosecuting women and docters for babies that die. This includes misscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, breach birth, still births, and premature water breaks. The laws are so broad and badly written it punishes the mother and in some cases the docter if something goes wrong. Even if that something wrong is natural and beyond the womans control.

      You are either lying or confusing some old self proclaiming 20 minute class taking midwife with certified nurse midwives because a certified nurse midwife can practice in all 50 states. Truth be told you shouldn’t want some random self proclaimed midwife or doula around anyway.

    • @babyt556
      @babyt556 ปีที่แล้ว

      And nobody is going to jail for natural complications even in states like texas they still allow procedures that has low life expectancy for the baby or will kill the mother (I live in texas and looked all of this information up). Mothers can be arrested for not properly going to the hospital after an incident for example home births are still legal but you have to go to the hospital immediately afterwards. Failure to do so and the baby dies or becomes extremely ill then yes the mother can be held responsible. Same for midwives if there are any complications they cannot tell you to wait to get emergency care because you’re so close that can jeopardize both you and the baby and even then the midwife may not get in trouble because there aren’t even boards to report them to and to investigate improper care. That’s why no matter what the mother has final say

    • @miscalotastuff733
      @miscalotastuff733 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@babyt556 The law itself makes it undesirable as you can go to prison if something happens to the kid. They have made it undesireable in those states due to badly written laws.
