One of my problems with this episode is that Pinkie's plan was essentially just as good as the others attempted in this episode. The ball rolling would've worked if Fluttershy hadn't kept one and Rainbow's tornado would've worked if Rainbow hadn't gotten messed up. Both only failed because of outside factors which could've easily messed up Pinkie as well such as even one parasprite being far enough away to not hear the music / indoors and unable to follow it, or if something had prevented her from playing like she had prevented Rainbow from flying. I probably would dislike this episode less if Pinkie's plan was the only one that actually would've worked.
hombad26 There is also another problem. Twilight goes to Zecora to find out about them. However, right in the very beginning Pinkie said what they were, with Twilight there. Twilight SHOULD have went to her friend, who was close by and knew about them, instead into the dangerous everfree forest to someone you met only once that at this point logically might not have any idea what 1 single small creature from the everfree forest is. Especially since it multiplies a lot and they have never seen it before. And if Twilight went to Pinkie for the info, Pinkie would have told them how to get the infestation under control, done so, and episode ends.
+jirodyne Wouldn't necessarily be an inconsistency, I just figured that Twilight wasn't paying attention. It wouldn't be the first time Twilight did that. Wouldn't be the last either. Case: trying to help Rainbow study for her test. Not paying attention to anything that Rainbow was trying to get across.
My favorite part of the episode was right after when Pinkie lost her cymbals, and she complained about losing her perfectly good pair of cymbals, then continued by trying to find the term for victim of ruin.

Hey Mr. Enter, a long lost animated film from 2002 has just been rediscovered and posted on vimeo, maybe you should do a review of it? The movie's called 'Rapsittie Street Kids: Believe in Santa'. I'm pretty sure this can give you a lot of new things to talk about, because a lot of other people don't know what to say about it either other than it's bad. So, maybe yo ucan go an take a look and see if it's worth reviewing?Note: It was supposed to be the start of a holiday themed franchise that never happened.
I know it sounds really weird... but this episode is kind of a ripoff of an old episode of 'The Smurfs'. It has the exact same story. Clumsy Smurf finds a cute little round creature, takes it home, it starts multiplying by barfing up it's own offspring, the town gets infested with them, and eventually one of the smurfs is able to lead them out of the village with musical instruments. Though in the end, you could argue that both might have been inspired by the story of the Pied Piper.
Gremlins reference? Check. Pied Piper reference? Check. Zecora making an appearance? Check. Pinkie's supernatural knowledge making its first big appearance? Check. Pinkie's ability to play multiple instruments at one time making its first appearance? Check. All in all, a funny, continuity establishing, reference-filled joy.
Side note: It's funny how they've referenced locusts and other swarming parasites twice now, each to dramatically different effect. Here we get something cute and funny that turns out to be a terror...but you can't stop loving it. More like having a mastiff or something, where it's a giant eating machine that you can't help but love. The Changelings though....not funny, not cute, more like how I really feel about locusts and other such things. They're terrifying. (Well, they're meant to be terrifying, but rather they are or not depends on how much one likes "A Canterlot Wedding")
I feel like I saw a dirty joke in this episode. When rainbow wakes up and they start making shapes, one is kind of odd. It is covering where female genitals are
A personal favorite episode of mine. All the characters were great (Twilight for her meltdown, Rarity's disgust with the parasprites' multiplying, and Pinkie Pie was fantastic) and it's a very fun episode. :10/10
o.o I think this episode is more a nod to a G1 series episode Mish Mash Melee where the ponies knock over a barrel and unleash havoc with these colorful little creatures called Frazzits and the only one who can fix it is the one pony who's usually an incompetent bubble head, Fizzy. Sound familiar? xD It does to me.
Out of the first 10 episodes, this one is my favorite of the show so far, not counting episodes that would come afterwards (S1 E11 and foward,) only ones that came before it. This episode is the first episode so far I love So many of the jokes work, all the characters are at their best, the parasprites are very neat creatures with their abilities and designs, and I just love the overall feel of the episode. It is such a fun episode that I could honestly watch on repeats and never get tired of. One of my favorites of the season. As for the issue with Pinkie not telling the others about her plan, some can say "It's Pinkie. Don't question it." Others can't accept that. For me, it does seem weird that she wouldn't tell the rest of the Mane Six. But sense I'm willing to have some suspension of disbelief, and say for this episode It's Pinkie. Although it can be an issue for others. It didn't bother me too much. This is M.A. Larson's first episode and would only be the beginning of the legacy of one of, if not, my favorite writer of the show, who would make episodes that I like to love to adore. Nice starting episode. My rating: 5 Out of 5 Stars Gold

Why would Pinkie need the instruments if they were just about to send off all of the parasprites? She interrupted the solution to perpetuate the problem, and solve it in the ruler's face.
Maybe Pinkie knew what the parasprites were because she grew up on a farm. Sure,it was a rock farm but that doesn't mean she never saw pests of any kind
I didn't think the episode was particularly good, but it wasn't so much that it was bad as much as it didn't seem to have anything especially good about it either, like many of the other episodes all have their special something. It, like most episodes, was also quite predictable. Still, most episodes usually have something really good about it that more than balances it out. This one just didn't. It was okay, I thought.
I think I'm a minority, but I absolutely hate this episode! For me, it was so freaking and avoidable! This episode is in second place of worst episode in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic!

[sighs] It was just a TERRIBLE reminder that I'd had to banish my own sister." As for Discord and Sombra, she was trying to PROTECT other ponies. And LUNA was also behind it too! Did you consider her?

The parasprites aren't really like gremlins, I think they're more based off of Star Trek's trouble with tribbles.
