Love it Freddie! Ignore the complainers who will moan about reliability and mpg. They’re just jealous you’re living out your dream motor! Keep looking after it and put some money aside each year for the bills. And enjoy!
Freddie, we purchased a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee new 10 years ago. It now has 118,000 miles. Nothing has gone wrong in 10 years of ownership, just tires, brakes and fluid changes. It has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. It has the 3.6 V6 like yours and the ZF 8 speed transmission. We live in the state of Wisconsin here in the USA and get a lot of snow. They salt the roads every time it snows. Despite this there is no rust on the Jeep. We love it, good look with your new Wrangler!!
Alarm bells start going off immediately when a car makes its appearance on a motorcycle youtube channel. But nothing prepared me for THOSE TROUSERS ...!!! 😮😱😲
Freddie, a top tip from the US. From a guy who's serviced plenty of those V6 engines. Replace both the PCV valve and vaccuum purge valve as fairly regular maintenance. Say every 20,000 miles. They are cheap and you can do it yourself. Decent engine if you take care of it. Common issues I've seen are throttle intermittently failing. And sometimes thr Ignition coils fail. Easy enough and cheap to replace. Side effects of all those issues is engine hunting. If its a clogged PCV or purge valve....the engine will hunt but not misfire. And finally be careful if you change the oil yourself, the housing for the oil filter is plastic. Do not over tighten. Enjoy! -Jules
How much is gas in the UK now? Pay no attention to those telling you how unreliable they are, just think of the money you’ll save when it’s in the shop. OTOH, you’ll have lots of opportunities for video content.
Your ability to speak with passion and enthusiasm about anything, from cars to motorcycles to cities will never cease to amaze me. Congrats on the purchase, and loved the inclusion of the old family photos.
Wow ! Deal of a lifetime ! No further comment needed, really... Enjoy this magnificent car to the fullest ! Love the channel, by the way, keep up the good work !
Nice purchase Freddie, we know how much you love Wranglers! Good to see you treat yourself for a change, you deserve it with all the awesome vlogs you bring us! Enjoy! 👍😎👊
I love your optimism Freddy. You sound just like me explaining buying a used high mileage GX470 to my wife. Cheers from Chicago. If you ever want to stay a few days in America for free, come on by.
I had a JEEP Wrangler for the past 4 years and really liked it. Highways driving in wind gets a bit dicey but overall good fun around town. I've moved on, but enjoyed it.
I have a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 3.6lt V6 petrol (2 door)and really love it, especially how it rears up if you put your foot down on the 280bhp and is so capable off road. The front bumper in UK spec sticks out somewhat, but is perfect for sitting-on to change your boots. However, fuel economy is about 20mpg and Road Tax is the highest at £630! I agree though that it feels like an adventure every time I leave the house. Don’t forget to give the Jeep wave.
Happy you found your dream keep. Been in a few over the years and I see the allure. No mater the age they all are unmistakably a jeep. They have done a great job staying in their lane. Love what you are doing. Don’t change. Cheers!
Ignore the naysayers Freddie, whatever gives you pleasure. I generally 'buy with the heart' rather than the head, hence my car (and bike) history has been so interesting.
Congrats, Fred. Hard to go back once you’ve owned a Jeep. I’ve had a 2015 Bonneville, 2019 Iron 1200, 2000 2-door Wrangler TJ, 2017 Wrangler JK and now I’ve got a 2020 T120 Black and a 2020 Gladiator JT. Seems like we definitely have similar taste in vehicles. As others have said, maintenance is definitely the key, but you treat it right and it will definitely do the same for you. Greetings from the US.
Lovely, we bought a 3 year old yellow short wheel base rubicon, had it 2 years now we love it, she gets attention everywhere we go, enjoy mate, plus love the videos I bought a new RE classic 350 in bronze after watching your videos, keep up the good work
Hey Freddie, congratulations on your purchase of the Wrangler, she's a beaut! On the subject of whether to keep your Fiat or not, I can say from experience that trying to park a big beast on local errands is a pain. I have a Toyota Prado which is used for touring and a Golf R for city work, as it's small and easy to park. If your situation allows, keep the Fiat, you may find that you use it more often for the local stuff and save the Jeep for the road trips!
Monica is so right about the Fiat 500👍 The best city car you can buy ...please keep it and vlog the MOT experience. Enjoying the 500 journey with that mileage ...see how far it will go👍❤
"But look at the front of it Monica" i could literally hear her eyes 👀 rolling 🤣 Stay strong luv he will grow out of it soon enough and then you have the high ground on the next purchase 😉make it a good en
The gen 1 X5 looked like it was on steroids, and it still looks incredible! Funnily enough, I wanted to buy one, but Monika said it was too much of a Lithuanian drug dealer car😆
@FreddieDobbs I appreciate Monika but if she thinks the X5 looks like a drug dealer car, but a Jeep in Europe doesn't look like a drug dealer car, well, I don't know what to say to that.
Cheers from 🇺🇸. I never considered owning a Wrangler until a buddy of mine wanted to look at property in Tennessee. We met in Nashville where we rented a Wrangler similar to yours and headed off to southeast Tennessee. Every morning we would remove the roof panels and head off on mainly backroads to explore what Tennessee had to offer. As motorcycle enthusiasts we were blown away, every road we traveled was filled with curves and nice pavement to match, a motorcyclist paradise. We never even hit the “dragon” or Cherohala Skyway as it was closed. Nevertheless, the Wranglers open air capability provided two cycle heads with a sense of what Tennessee and all her curves has to offer. Great choice mate!
Monicas “Shall we take the roof off ?” and your brainstorming the manual for detailed instructions when you got stuck had me 😂 Me? Would have gone straight to a YT tutorial . Love you both xx
Freddie if you are planning on keeping it long term get the chassis waxoyled if it isn't done already. Tyres are a good thing to look at when buying, its got bfg a/ts on it so you know the previous owner didn't go cheap when buying parts. Some wheel spacers to make them fill the arches would look great on it.
I like people like you who can have a real passion for things and get excited over something. Cause the same goes for me! Nice car btw. I am not a Jeep guy in particular but I can appreciate a manly car if I see one. Cheers!
I found your channel when searching for Triumph Bonneville reviews. I like your way of presenting motorcycles, so I've subscribed since then. And now you bought a car I wanted to buy a few years ago. But, fortunately for me, I've ended up with my beloved Toyota FJ Cruiser 4.0 petrol V6. I can fully understand your excitement. Cheers from Poland.
Loving the Oxfords mate. You look proper dapper in those! I had a jeep, it was excellent off road, and could pull a tank out of a ditch. But, I prefer my Hybrid RAV4. Just for reliability and low low running costs. Hope you have fun in the yank tank, Freddie! ❤
I do remember you checking out a Jeep awhile ago when you went to the Harley Showroom and if I am not mistaken it rained that day. Glad you have finally taken the plunge and got what you always wanted. It looks in good nick, so hoping to see some footage of away days for you and Monica. Enjoy! 👍🙂
My mate had an older 2-door 4.0 litre petrol Jeep, I can’t recall him ever having any major issues with it and he had it years. Jolly nice car Freddie, well done!
I had a Jeep Wrangler TJ 4.0lt in metallic green with a brown roof - just loved that Jeep and the engine was absolutely bullet proof (although the body did rust).
it's contagious :) why after watching it I feel like I've bought a Jeep!!!! Somehow I feel I can drive, have a new car and am happy and excited for the upcoming camping trip! None of that is real, but it feels real 🥰 Thanks for the Sunday cheer! ☺
An absolute beauty, very happy for you both and I 100% agree, I’d rather have a high mileage vehicle with good service history than a lower mileage without. All vehicles have their issues, it’s what ever makes you happy, living the dream and loving it, have fun with those cracking motor and I can wait to follow your adventures with it.
That's a bit of a surprise Freddy. Congratulations! I had a black Jeep Wrangler (YJ) back int 1992. Only available in two door, and short wheelbase in those days. With leaf springs and cart axles front and back, it rode like a buckboard. But it was a fun thing. These are night and day different to mine. Enjoy yourself!
Thanks Osis🙌🏻 I was considering these old 4.0 YJs. The only reason I didn’t go for one is I wanted four doors… but the YJs have stated flying up in value!
YES! Finally someone who actually pulls the trigger on a "Yer, go for it" car, instead of just sitting in the pub talking about it. Looks so cool, suits your style ! Really enjoy watching someone truly excited and passionate about a vehicle purchase. Look at him beaming! Very relatable, especially when Monica leaves in the little embarrassing bits of silly stuff we all do and forget ourselves.
Had two JK Rubicon’s (U.S.) & loved them, just an FYI the rubber knobs are to support the windshield when it’s folded down. The ring on the hood you mentioned before is for a bug bra to go protect the grille and part of the hood from road debris, goes up and over the hood and latches on that ring. I never used one though, all the doors can be removed even if you have the electronic window package, disconnect the connectors by the door and lift up on the doors, takes a bit of doing the first time you remove them if the door hinges weren’t lubed properly. Once they’re removed I used a generous amount of grease and after that they popped right off, super easy, always makes for a fun a ride with the doors off. Jeep mods are addicting Freddie, forewarned, my wife loved & hated it 😂
My good lady loves Land Rovers, she owned a few over the years. When her old Discovery came to its rusty end I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee from a local guy. She was less than impressed, I loved it, like sitting in an armchair at a gentleman’s club. I now have very sensible and reliable Toyota RAV4. Still look longingly at Jeeps though. Looking forward to future videos of your Jeep adventures.
Congratulations on a fine purchase! Over sixty years I have owned well over 100 cars, mostly bought with the heart rather than the head - the latter are the only ones I regret buying!
Welcome to the club. I have a 2014 Jeep Wrangler JKU. I love seeing people try to take the top off for the first time. The handle on the hood is a throw back to early Jeeps. it is to hold down the windshield if you lay it flat against the rubber knobs on either sides of it. This can be done with this model but it is a LOT of work and nobody really does it. Have fun from Kentucky.
It's bulletproof for a Stellantis vehicle which means it's still below average. Hopefully it doesn't drink oil, have lifter issues, have timing chain guide failure, etc... Here in the Colonies, Jeeps have a cult status and the owners will swear by them despite how diabolically bad they are. Hope yours treats you well and it's the exception to the rule.
I love how passionate you are about the engines you review and how you go about down to the littlest nitty bit. It's always a treat to watch your videos. Happy for you, big man.
Oh Freddie, I love you man. As a Jeep owner I got to tell ya Jeep stands for just empty each pocket. lol you’ll find out. The 3.6 vvt motor in your Jeep is the same as the one in my Dodge Challenger. I think you’re confused about the 3.6 going 400k miles, you might be thinking about the 258 straight 6 motor. The one your dad had and the one I drive every day. Mine is a 1996 with 262k on it now. My daughter has a 2000 wrangler with the same motor with 174k. Those motors are indestructible. Your motor maybe not. Jk’s are not as good as the old TJ’s and your dad’s XJ. Keep that Fiat. You’re gonna have to learn about jeeps. The thing on the hood is for strapping the windshield down. Yes the windshield folds down. You don’t know it yet, but you’ve just entered a new world. If you find a little rubber duck on it one day. You know you’ve made it. Jeep people are like Harley people. We are everywhere, and if you have questions we can help. When something mechanical happens be ready to hear “oh that’s just a Jeep thing “ you’ll find out. Remember a bonnet= hood, a wing=fender,a boot=trunk🇺🇸 lol I know one thing Freddie, you are the best dressed Jeep owner I’ve ever seen👍😜
Thanks Freddy, loved it! And I am sure Monika will love it and also love taking the Fiat 500 as hers to do with it what she wants!! Lovely to hear Monika in the conversations and to see her steady hand with the phone camera. And probably the Production editing and processing as well. You guys make a great team!
My mom has a 2015 like yours here in the USA. Hers is right hand drive as well because she is a mail carrier so she can pull up to mail boxes with ease. This is her second right hand drive, first being a Jeep Cherokee. When I was a kid people would look at me funny while sitting in the left side which is normally our driving position. Hope you get years of good service and fun out of your Jeep!
Lots of people on here naysaying about the MPG, reliability… Jeep itself- and Fred’s trousers. Sometimes - we buy things because we just want them, and have longed for them. It’s a weighed decision between the head and the heart, where the heart makes up 60% of the final analysis. Its not an appreciating asset. It’s a £14k toy - let him enjoy it. He works hard, and I’m sure there will be some content out of it too, it branches the channel out more, allows more adventures. Enjoy it Freddie, and the trousers are epic and in style at the moment!
Buy whatever your heart wants, and enjoy living in the moment ❤❤ let the complainers come.....and show them your smile, they only have negative energy to share 😂😂
@@JW20236 I agree and I’m sure he does - I just find it ironic that really, we are all a community and audience likeminded on motorcycles, anything with engines - however they are, really, singular or two person transport, and often impractical toys, ultimately. In real terms - this is by far the most practical vehicle Freddie now owns. It’s not a bike, and it’s not a shoebox like the fiat. The reaction was just funny to see - if he’d bought a £14k new Triumph, nobody would have bat an eyelid.
Two things would put me off personally and that's, one it's American, and two, it's a Jeep. I've got a fabulous picture of my Grandad who in the 1920s was wearing those exact trousers. I believe they called them Oxford Bags, what goes around comes around.
I'm a retired mechanic, lived in 🇺🇸 for over 30yrs. That Pentastar V6 doesn't have a good reputation...it'll pass everything but a petrol station.😁..good luck Freddie. The 4.0 190hp inline 6, was an unburstable engine (apart from cold start piston slap).A totally different animal.
Ive had Jeep Wrangler 3.8 2009, 3.8 2011, 3,6 Pentastar 2012 and now 2.8 CRD 2014. Not så many Wranglers sold here in Sweden but I love them. My bike is a Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 and my wife owns a Harley Davidson Street XG750. Pentastar have more horsepower and its really fun to drive. Welcome to the Wrangler Wave world
I’m a huge fan of you and your channels. Learned about you from Andy “The Missenden Flyer” about a year ago and haven’t missed a video since. I love your videos and the style in which you make them. So unique in the genre. My wife now watches with me and if I watch one without her she gets mad. I’m a huge fan of the Jeep Wrangler and I have wanted one for years, but I’ve never pulled the trigger, even though I’ve test driven several and rented them as well. on a trip to the mountains of Colorado in 2017, my wife and I rented one exactly like the one you purchased. Absolutely LOVED IT. We had to read the manual as well to remove the roof panels! I recently purchased a Royal Enfield Meteor based on your experiences with the RE brand. Thanks for what you do! 👍🏻

Nobody ever bought a Jeep for reliable motoring. Hope it doesn't empty your bank account. All the best. 🤞

Congrats on your purchase! I've had a couple wranglers and the Sahara edition is def the one to get. Have fun with it!
Good look for you, enjoy!
Now we are talking Freddie. My partner and I absolutely love the wrangler. We are looking to purchase one next year.
Sadly new Jeep Wranglers in the UK start at about £60k!
The original Grand Cherokees are incredibly rare now (I love them). Good choice on the RAV4- I really like these
Congrats! Nothing like a new Jeep!
Congratulations on a fine purchase! Over sixty years I have owned well over 100 cars, mostly bought with the heart rather than the head - the latter are the only ones I regret buying!
I'm happy for you buying your dream car and wish you a lot of safe mileage with it.
With the changeable English weather, I hope that lid goes back on quicker than it came off. Happy motoring.
I will have to speed up the process😆
I live in Scotland and never remove the roof on my Wrangler - way too risky!
Congrats! That Penstar V6 motor is bullet proof, however, get both credit cards ready for the time you need new tyres.
Delighted to hear this about the engine! And slightly scared about the tyres!
@@FreddieDobbsThose are brilliant tyres though - BF Goodrich All Terrains. I have them on my Jeep Wrangler and they last really well.
Even the £770 road tax band M would have to go on a credit card
It's bulletproof for a Stellantis vehicle which means it's still below average. Hopefully it doesn't drink oil, have lifter issues, have timing chain guide failure, etc... Here in the Colonies, Jeeps have a cult status and the owners will swear by them despite how diabolically bad they are.
Hope yours treats you well and it's the exception to the rule.
What a great looking vehicle, congratulations! Hopefully you guys will get many years of good service.
Always loved the look of these ! Absolute fabulous example so well maintained ………Here’s to some great journeys ….❤
Thanks Millie!
I love how passionate you are about the engines you review and how you go about down to the littlest nitty bit. It's always a treat to watch your videos. Happy for you, big man.
Man I am happy for you and hate that I am poor. Cheers!
😂
That’s extremely kind of you, appreciate the kind words and sending you my best🙌🏻
Nano, Nano Freddie health to enjoy. Someone will know 😊
Freddie will be just as poor once he puts that in for a service-or fills the tank!
@@lensmann100Still he will be happier than owning a Hyundai i10.
Congratulations to the both of you, you’ve worked hard for it, so enjoy it to the fullest
If this guy was a salesman I’d buy anything off him! 😂 literally on autotrader now, are they that bad!? 😭
Well chosen, the 3.6 is the way to go. you’ll love it.👍
Life is too short, get what you want and do what you want with it. In this regard, Freddie and Monica are trailblazers.
Oh dear, Freddie. I had one for ten years. All sorts of really expensive problems, plus they drink fuel at such a rate. 3,600cc is unusual.
I didn't like to mention Fred's stride's 🤣
@@pleun315 If you purely let your heart decide, it will also be the one to ache the most if things go wrong.
No one is seriously knocking his choices. It's friendly banter, I hope he sees it as such. Everyone that watches Freddie likes him.
I just bought one for myself 3 days ago! Love it. Mine is a year older, super low milage. Enjoy!!!
Two things would put me off personally and that's, one it's American, and two, it's a Jeep. I've got a fabulous picture of my Grandad who in the 1920s was wearing those exact trousers. I believe they called them Oxford Bags, what goes around comes around.
haha, exactly. Watching Freddie is like watching someone back in the 1930s, 'up the Empire, what ho!'.
Good to see you have talked yourself into it hope it works out
I'm a retired mechanic, lived in 🇺🇸 for over 30yrs. That Pentastar V6 doesn't have a good reputation...it'll pass everything but a petrol station.😁..good luck Freddie.
The 4.0 190hp inline 6, was an unburstable engine (apart from cold start piston slap).A totally different animal.
I agree about the 4.0lt totally bullet proof in my old Jeep Wrangler TJ. I have the 3.6lt in my new Jeep and have had no problems so far at 60k miles.
@@stonemarten1400 that's half of Freddie's mileage.
Very happy for you guys, amazing car 👏🏻🎉
good job Freddie!
Thanks Tony!
Welcome to the Wrangler Wave world
118k mile JEEP, what could go wrong? 😂
Please don’t say this! I’ve justified in my mind that they’re built to last forever!!
@@FreddieDobbsin my experience, they are a PITA to own and maintain, but full of character !
@@FreddieDobbsYou’ll change your mind, but I doubt you’ll admit it!
I'm sure it will be fine. If the fiat 500 can do 230000 miles, then this could do half a million!
😂
