It really has hold up well. The third person shooting gameplay has aged INCREDIBLY well and the ragdoll physics in this game are perfect, it's not as bland as GTA V or RDR2 but it's not as exaggerated and goofy as GTA IV or RDR1, or even Max Payne 2's it just has the right balance.
I still don't know how to feel about this game. The third person shooter gameplay is a 10/10 in this game, everything from how it feels, how enemies react, the punchy guns, everything is just fantastic in that regard. Everything else though is kinda disappointing, Max Payne 3 is a video game I can complain all day about. From Dan Housers cynical and horny writing being a terrible impression of Sam Lakes writing that completely shrugs over Max's arc in Max Payne 2's ending, the extremely boring and one lane level design to the annoyance of overusing cutscenes and set pieces that ruins the flow in all of the levels.
In my opinion max payne 3 is easily is the best in every thing not say the first 2 are bad but the first one is very overrated in my opinion the story is bland and all the levels look the same the second is very underrated but still max payne 3 just in proves everything the story, soundtrack and max are definitely at their best in max payne 3 and every level is different and has different feel to it please take your nostalgia glass of so you can see that this game is a amazing let's hope the remakes will be good
@@jaydenbeasty I don't hate MP3, it's just my least favorite in the series, and trust me, I've played all three games hundreds upon hundreds of times and MP3 is always the most tedious one to replay. The story isn't actually my main general problem with the game. The long cutscenes, set pieces and the overly linear levels is my main problems with the game as they absolutely ruin all the replay value from the game. I mean for crying out loud, speedrunners have to literally install a cutscene skip mod in order to speedrun the game because they are so long and frequent in Max Payne 3! I actually don't mind the game taking place in Brazil or that it no longer have comic book panel cutscenes anymore, those are things I think Max Payne 3 improved upon. The problem with its story is how detached it feels from the previous two games and how it completely forgets Max Payne 2's existence. MP3's writing uses heavy enphasis on edgy GTA esque cynical humor and crude & sexual jokes, rather than the sarcastic yet goofy writing of Sam Lakes writing that emphasised more on poetry. I wouldn't mind Max's character in MP3 if they AT LEAST addressed Max's character development at the end of Max Payne 2 instead of just pretending like it never happened and just having one brief cameo of Mona Sax at the graveyard New Jersey chapter. And the story itself basically just repeats the same drama of Max Payne 2 but in a slightly worse way in my opinion. Max's quote at the end of the second game after Mona died "I had a dream of my wife, she was dead, but it was alright." was in my personal opinion way more satisfying of a conclusion than having Max just walking towards the sunset and moving on from his loved ones death after massacering an entire airport.
@ferdster594 It's probably because I played mp3 first so I don't know how it felt going form 2 to 3 I'll admit the game is not perfect your right that it's annoying that most cutscene can't be skipped and the ending in the second one is better but I got to disagree with you on the set pieces their amazing in my opinion. the original 2 were linear to I know mp3 is a lot more linear but there's still clues and that to find .the story is detached from the other two but there's not much left for max in New york and because this game is darker then the other two the gta humor works better for this game but Sam lakes writing was so good for the first two .I do understand that this game is different from the first two so I can see why people might not like it a so I get what your coming from . thanks for replying in a mature way and not turning this into a war
It's just one of those games that grows into you, it isn't everyones cup of tea. Apart from the corridor like levels and the over abundance of cutscenes Max Payne 3 is a great game imo
Never played this game but by lookin at the gameplay , i can say that this is the most american video game ever 💀
The studio that made it was based in Vancouver.
Crazy how this game still holds up huh😅

Haha thanks man! If there’s a game that truly talks my language it’s definitely Max Payne 😂🥂
Man, this title couldn’t be more right. Every time I've ever left a bad relationship, I just play Max Payne 3, and everything is okay.
Hell yeah man, it’s a good game to just boot up and practice different maps.
