As someone who's favorite franchise is Half-Life I'm disappointed so many of them failed to use their brains to recognize satire that dislike bar is oof. Not worthy of the MIT experience of Gordon Freeman. Anyone else really looking forward to the next few episodes of Freemans Mind?

really funny video lol first one I see so idk about all the gaming takes you have.. but.. I downloaded/tried HL2 when it was on dirt cheap sale, I didn't get but a couple hours in.. I mean some linear games are fantastic, you can't deny RE4 is a good game. There's some backtracking but still as linear as it gets. I'm not a big fan of first person shooters tho, and I only got it cause I got Alyx after, I haven't finished Alyx.. it's okay, but RE4 is the best VR title, and I didn't mean to bring the same game twice lol.
all I can say is I'd rather play Second-Life, something I've only booted for less than an hour, I think we can get more out of it. The real problem with starting half life now is you know there's a huge cliffhanger that's never solved. I'm still not spoiled but maybe one day lol. This isn't talking about half life 2 tho maybe you praise that, 1 does look kinda bad, but I did get 1 and it didn't run on my PC with a 2070S RTX... got some error, so I have no opinion.

I do like Half Life, but it was just the start and only a shadow of what HL2 is. The FPS mechanics and combat just weren't strong enough to get me into the game past 1 playthrough. It's good but overrated and not nearly as good as 2.
but also, half life 1 came out in 1998. at the time it came out, it was groundbreaking in terms of basically everything. storytelling, NPC AI, and graphics. i don't think it's overrated, just obviously not up to today's standards
@@notraeon Cool, HL2 will always be much better and I stand by it calling it overrated. It's good but quite simple and linear in comparison to HL2, which gives much more lore and world building which is only just touched on in the first game.

Agreed, Half-Life is easily one of the worst games of all time. The scripted sequences are so boring and repetitive. Like we get it, you built skeletal animation into the Quake engine in order to reimagine how stories could be told in the video game medium. It's so pretentious and dumb! The game also has way too many weapons and isn't short enough. Atrocious.

But... How is it a rip-off of Halo if Halo came out in 2001? There is an entire documentary now that talks about the entire development process and what happened through it all, all of which was in the beginning development of Valve, in 1997.

also, youre talking about a game that came out in 1998. when it came out, this game was groundbreaking in terms of basically everything. enemy and npc ai, graphics, physics, and lots of other things. this game basically started how fps games are today. you keep talking about the game like it came out recently. of course its aged, it came out like 20 years ago. no, its not gonna have amazing level design and physics stuff like newer games do.
ALSO, about the physics, half-life 2 still has better physics than most RECENT games. i know hl2 is a newer game, but it still came out 17 years ago and has amazing physics, level design, graphics, storytelling, and everything. it pretty much holds up to today's standards in most ways.

Half-Life is a completely dead series and rightfully so. This game was painful to play through, and anybody trying to convince you that it's a masterpiece has clearly never played a true masterpiece. I'm sick of all the fake Half-Life fans coming out of nowhere and trying to be real gamers like me. I've done nothing but try to save you all money and time, and yet these obsessed Half-Life fanboys are just that - casuals with only Half a Life! This game is boring and repetitive with no character development. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be streaming Skull Island: Rise of Kong - a superior franchise!
