    Hi CD. You may wish to revisit some of the Audio. It's a 1300 milli amp-hour battery, not a 1300 milli amp one. - big difference. Amp hours is a measure of capacity, amps is a measure of current. Later on it sounded like you referred to milli-ohms as ohms. I'm sure they are just verbal typo's but you may want to correct them so others are not mislead. Cheers. BobUK.

      When I speak fast, words get cut out :-). To be honest, I'm a long time user of battery chargers and the terminology has just become a big mess in my head since my RC friends all know what each of us means when we say something incorrect (i.e., you begin referring to something incorrectly for years and it just carries on since no one corrects you).

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Most people will tell you to put them in storage mode when you don't use them. I usually charge batteries as needed and usually use them within a few days. When winter arrives here and I fly less, I place about 90% of my batteries in storage mode.

    Hi CD. What would be nice is an adapter that allowed original equipment proprietary batteries to be charged in one of these better chargers. Fortunately for high end 'pro' video cameras the battery plates are standardised on only a few alternatives, not so easy to do for drones. But an adapter could be am optional extra provided by the likes of DJI, AUTEL, Skydio etc. Needs a bit more skill to use, as you have shown, but educating pilots has to be a good thing. Stay safe. BobUK.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DJI is to blame for proprietary batteries. The Phantom 1 ran on normal off the shelf lipo batteries. Then for the Phantom 2 they made everything idiot proof and proprietary batteries and crappy chargers were born.

    Is there a smart charger like this one that can charge multiple battery packs simultaneously? ....or is it better to buy multiple chargers?
    What about something like ISDT PC-4860?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most chargers that do multiple packs are dual chargers (two batteries at once). They are designed to charge two very different batteries at once or charge one, discharge the other, etc. Items like the 4860 is more to charge all the same battery times whatever your charger has sufficient amps to charge.

    Serious question. I bought a Mavic Mini. I had the idea to buy a 24800 mah power bank to charge my batts in the field. Worked great. Since then I upgraded to the new Mavic Air 2. I can’t seem to use my power bank with these new batts that I can tell but it looks like this smart charger would allow me to use my power bank to charge the Air 2. I don’t see a USB port where the power bank would plug in but maybe there is another way I’m not aware of. Am I wrong? Is there anyway possible you could show any if any alternative ways (like with a power bank) to charge these new Air 2 batteries without screwing things up? BTW I know very little about anything electrical. Thanks so much for any help you can offer.

You could charge DJI and other similar batteries with this charger, but for most people they would have to spend on buying a different cable for every type of DJI, Autel, Yuneec, Hubsan, Parrot, etc out there, which can get expensive. This video is for the RC Hobby viewers and to provide a bit of knowledge to others not into such hobbies, just incase they get into such hobbies. Trust me when I say I get plenty of requests for battery charger videos due to people getting into the fun world of RC.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Smart batteries are designed for not so smart people. I know that sounds negative but that is why DJI started included "idiot proof" batteries and battery chargers with their drones back in 2014. DJI's concept back then was for someone to buy a piece of tech that had everything in a box that would be needed and worked together. Today if you buy an RC PLANE, RC TRUCK, RC BOAT, RC HELICOPTER or enter the RC FPV HOBBY, there is no quality "everything in a box". You have to know how to charge a battery. My FPV FOR BEGINNERS series of videos, coming in JUNE, will have an episode on how to charge a battery.

    I dont understand. How can it charge "really fast" if its charging a 1300 mah at 1.3 amps. thats 1c and should take about the same time on any charger. or did i miss part of the video where its explained how and why it chargers faster than other chargers?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could increase the amps of course. I have found, time after time, that when I put a 1300 mAh battery on this charger that is at 27% and the exact same battery on another charger that is also at 27%, this charger always completes the charge one to two minutes faster, even when both are set to 1.3 amps. I have no explanation.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@runrundave A battery with cells, like any lipo battery, needs the cells to be balanced. To ensure cells are balanced, you need a balance cable that pretty much all libo batteries have. DJI smart batteries have a pile of connections and some of those connections are for balancing, so you'd need a cable that goes from the DJI battery and splits into a voltage cable and a balance cable. I have some for the old MAVIC PRO battery. I've charged those on a typical lipo charger with no problem. Same is true for Yuneec Typhoon H batteries. If you don't have the correct cable, then you could certainly damage the battery. The only benefit of having the PRO charger for DJI batteries is that you can pretty much instantly drop them to storage voltage, or even better you can recycle them so that they hold more of a charge longer as they age.
