Beautiful specimens! If you want to conserve iron out, I would recommend filling the container with water just barely covering the crystals so the SIO isn't super diluted.
@@OffTheBeatenPathCrystalshey dude great video! is this method ok to use with Citrine and Prase quartz? the latter im worried about losing some of the lovely deep opaque green colour it has? thank you
some of my crystals have a tough iron coating but after sitting outside in the rain and sun for a year it really cleans them up!! Its crazy to think how acidic the rain actually is!! Of course a little muriatic or iron out works a lot faster though haha. Great video and thanks for sharing some tips🙂
Wow! That big one is an awesome find! All the quartz I find is just the typical rough… beautiful but never found one with points… I’m new to The crystal mineral world but cherish them all!
I used TILEX mold and mildew remover in warm water in an ultrasonic cleaner. It worked amazingly well. I cant find the TILEX anymore but The Iron Out Looks like a great idea. Thanks
I like using SIO, but have noticed that sometimes the fluid becomes yellow which will stubbornly stain the crystals. So keep an eye on progress and if the liquid becomes discoloured then dump it and replace with fresh.
Thanks Greig. I like to sacrifice a few rough look specimens as test subjects, some times a short 10 minute swim makes a crystal look good, some take days.
Well you have some nice ones. I'm trying to clean out some pink and purple and black paint or dye on the back of these quartz geodes that I got from a friend today. Honestly don't like the dye. I went to go rinse them out and get the dust off and the dye started to come off right away so I had to finish it lol. Blessed for sure. My collection is getting bigger. Almost time for a rock tumbler.
Hi. Great video. I found a big quartz chunk that has silver going through it. What is the best way to clean it without losing any of the silver? Thank you
I am by no means an expert when it comes to cleaning silver. I do suggest that whatever product you do decide to use, use it on a small piece to see what happens before putting your good crystals in.
Thanks. I am getting ready to Iron Out the big cluster, when I do that I will be sure to do some video and before and after pictures to show the difference.
Hi Jeff, you have some great looking crystals in that group, nice easy method of cleaning them. Do you need to neutralise the solution once the cleaning is complete. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin
I don't recommend this method of cleaning as it exposes your skin and lungs to extreme chemical toxins. So important to read the labels and not expose ourselves if we don't have to.
Everyone should wear all the required personal protective equipment as directed by whatever chemicals you are using to clean anything including Crystals.
Hi Off the beaten path, I’m working on a new Cleaning TV Series for Ricochet TV Production Company (the makers behind The Repair Shop on BBC One) & we’d potentially like to feature your video. Are you able to put your email address in your about section so that I can contact you please?
Thanks for posting such an awesome video tutorial on how to clean our crystals Jeff , I truly love the growth patterns in the Quartz .

The growth patters and my favorite parts to look at.

Thanks. I think it's finally time for me to clean the big cluster, perhaps another video.
Incredible crystals!!! Thanks for sharing them with us!
Thanks. They were fun to collect and fun to show in a video.
Love the chlorite included pieces from that mine.
They are spectacular.

Thanks. For the location I found this at it was a great find, I would love to hit up some of the big quartz mines in Arkansas one day.

Everyone's collections get bigger, I need to expand my rock garden already!!!
Citric Acid works really well to. Especially on Black Maganese.
Some sick crystals Jeff, great job on the clean up as well. Iron out has been a go to for me for years. Love the stuff!
Wait till you see the Titanite crystal I found this week, nowhere near as big as the one you found but very this one is very nicely formed.
@@OffTheBeatenPathCrystals Are you posting a video?? Hope so!!
They cleaned up very nice!
They cleaned up good, but I think I could have left them in the solution for another day or two.

👍 thanks . Trying it out in southern Arizona. Called why Az. 🧐
I hope to have an updated Quartz cleaning video soon, perhaps also including other ways of crystal cleaning.
Nice, thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the informations....can you pls give idea how may be the price
Prices can be all over the place. Best to take some to your local rock/crystal shop and see what they say.
Cool video
Great information! Looking for information on how to clean a huge death plate fossil. New subscriber here

Great video handsome
Thank you kindly.
Great job man. New sub here.
Thanks. I really should do another video on cleaning Quartz Crystals, I was in a bit of a rush when doing this one.

I just flush the dirty water away, I don't believe it's acidic.
Cool man, does it work on calcite? I have a big one like that big chunk of clusters you had also got in my locality
Test it on a small piece and see what happens. It's always good to test any cleaning method on a small piece so you don't ruin something good.
Can i use costic soda for water cut quartz
Never heard of it. I always suggest trying it on a small piece of Quartz to see what happens.
Would this ruin the color of agate?
I would suggest trying a small piece you don't mind loosing if it does not work out for you.
Can I use CLR instead ?
Never tried CLR yet. Test it on a little piece to see what happens.
How do i sell those crystals
Iron out goes in first right?
I usually place the crystals in the warm water then add the Iron Out. Either way probably works the same.
Is quartz worth anything?
It can be if you have something really nice.
Define warm day , 25c+?
The hotter it is the better the Iron Out is going to work, 25+
What to do if Iron Out isn't selled here in my country?
I would search the Mindat website for info on cleaning crystals, they have loads of well written posts on this topic.
@@OffTheBeatenPathCrystals thanks.
Is this acid ? Or sometimes else
No acid, just chemical for taking off the Iron staining. You still don't want to breath the fumes though.
What is step face is that rare?
Not rare, just very pictures to look at.
Do you purchase.quartz?
No. I suggest checking with a local rock/crystal shop for selling specimens.
Sir I have block stone tektite miniral from Philippines provinces of Camarines Norte
