I would advise pulling that timing cover to make sure the timing chain didn't slip at all. I have had timing slip on a vq35de just turning it over by HAND while on the stand without the pin pulled from the main tensioner.
I understand not wanting to because 1:it runs. 2:its a time consuming job.
Maybe just pull the valve covers and verify the cams face the correct orientation when set at tdc. That's a far easier way to verify timing for a piece of mind.
Completely agree with you. That was my first thought. It doesn't sound like it's off time, but I also wasn't there. It would not hurt to take the extra time to double check timing. Would hate for this motor to blow too.
But when do these guys ever do something right, eggs in an engine, dog leash for belt, blowing cars up on purpose. they dont even use a ring compressor. If you can afford that garage you can afford some specialty tools. This would be a good channel minus the stupid

Crunch. I don’t edit everyone’s videos. Just Gavin’s at the moment. But I stay busy so we can get 5 videos uploaded every week for him. But it’s also hard for me to record things like this for my channel. I’d rather it go to Gavin’s channel and be seen rather than mine and get washed away. Plus it makes my life easier editing it once. There will be plenty of Z content on my channel in the future though

I just think it was super crappy for them to make fun of drawings and letters obviously from kids or people with disabilities who look up to them. It just was really crappy to see from someone who always wears his cross out and cries at sentimental things. He obviously has a heart but guess it is lacking for those not at his level.
Glad to see his car going again I know the feeling when it comes to working so much an not having the time or extra money to get your project going. unless the engine is 100% fully purpose built in that Z, it won't even touch my stock Mustang GT... I've looked at the numbers plus already beaten a stock 370Z with my 3rd gear fucked up...

I've said a million times engines want to run. Give them fuel air and spark and they will fucking run. I've busted off and idled an old 350 laying on the ground with no carb on it. Just sprayed start fluid into the intake and jumped the starter 3 or 4 times and it sputtered to life and flipped over in its side 😂 you do gotta make sure the crank bearings are good at least. It was best not to drive it til you know the oil pressure. I wanted a dude rebuild a firebird and sanded one cylinder til it was damn oval shaped to fix it and I'll be dammed if it didn't run great. Didn't even start smoking by the time he got rid of it.
