Personally I'd rather not pay for legacy characters at all. Bruce maybe because we haven't seen him for awhile but we literally just bought Armor King. At least this DLC is a brand new character.

It's a shame that the devs made the base difficulty too easy, so there are a lot of people that complain about it, but the games has loads of execution, it's just that it doesn't forces you to learn it to succeed, unless you're playing it on Ultimaniac, which is almost an obnoxious difficulty lol
I grew up with both FF and Tekken. I, like many others have said in the past: Tifa. Why not Tifa. She fits the vibe of Tekken better. Shes more martial artist, and less anime. Her world has much more in common with the Tekken world. I can go on and on.
I personally think the issue is that the FF people aren't going to come over. FFXVI, Clive's game, didn't sell well and wasn't received well either. There was more hope and hype for Tifa coming over. Clive doesn't attract a crowd is the real issue but hope this changes if Clive turns out to be cool.
FF16 is leagues above FF Remake and Rebirth. These games are just a bunch of filler that does not adds anything other than comedy. People complain about anything, so it's not Square Enix fault

When i read rumors of a Bleach character posdibility since Bandai Namco have a Bleach game around the corner i was pretty hype about it. After seeing Clive i thought "That could have been Ichigo". Youd have the same negative reactions, but itd make more sense in a cross promotion with another property they're pushing. Im not going to use this character. No interest, but he'll have a ton of ppl trying him out and a few 100 maining him to a handful usung him competitively...like Noctis, like Negan, like Akuma and like Geese. No matter what the guests pull in numbers.

Here is my solution: not my absolute favorite character ever, there are others i wanted more, but i’m 31 years old so i’m going to act like an adult, and take what i got in peace instead of zerging out about it everywhere. I liked FF16, Clive is a really good character so its still nice to have him. His trailer is pulling wild numbers though. Probably he’ll be the best selling character until the next guest
I'm personally glad it's Clive instead of Tifa. I assume she would've been relatively more basic and safe from a gameplay standpoint, but I understand more people want her simply because she is more well-known. Clive is nowhere near as popular, but he's a fantastic character/protagonist in FF16.
i dont agree and the community doesnt either, there wasnt anything left to make tifa re use moves from t7 but ironically clive is using a ton of reused noctis moves from 7. this is just a cash grab for them to re use noctis assets

They're already either in or out, they're probably not going to like or try t8 if they tried t7 and decided they don't like fighting games. I mean, he does have a point. We need more Tekken characters. I'm all for guests but still I was hoping we'd end the year on getting an OG Tekken character back. Hopefully next year we'll get back on track. Clive is cool and all but I need more Tekken characters back too.

With no guarantee that Bruce or AK would be in second season pack. I would take both over Eddy and Lidia any day IMO. But Regardless I'm excited I think Clive looks cool, can't wait to lab him.

Clive is cool sure, but his gimmick and aesthetics are literally the polar opposite of practically any solid 3d fighting game.
Bloke was born to be a Soul Calibur character than Tekken. This is coming from someone who clocked in over 450 hours in ff16 mind you,I got no beef with Clive being in a fighting game per se, just not Tekken….
@AkH23718 I'm not wondering why people want a punch character in a game full of characters that punch. I'm wondering why you'd want a GUEST character. A character we could pick from an infinite amount of franchises, to be Tifa. A character who quite literally does nothing except swing on people. She's a Monk from the Final Fantasy series. They don't do much except punch. She doesn't even have a unique style.
@@Oraciion_ ??? She literally has attack strings pretty much tailor made for fighting games though? just from the animations and move set that we got from FF7R, she already has a clear layout on a unique fighting style with enough flare and flashiness to stand out as her own.
So much so that even if I personally played preferred the frigging monster hunter being adapted in Tekken ala how capcom did with MVCI or even Yuffie from FF7, if Tifa is chosen simply because of the majority’s want then I won’t be bothered cause I know her presentation overall would fit Tekken like a glove.
Saying Tifa is benched because she won’t bring anything to the table is simply ironic considering how a fair number of Clive’s moves function practically on a similar principle as Noctis, just unnecessarily way flashier.
This was done for money, plain and simple. FF16’s initial sales were good but SE considered it dismal due to their own fault of limited time PS exclusivity. They had to pick this guy for marketing purposes. FF7R is already selling like hotcakes that it didn’t need the extra marketing push from including any of the roster.

They did it because hes the most recent ff mc. Plain and simple. To sell games and move products. Just like smash. Sora getting in smash was god tier levels of a crazy feat. Hell sephiroth and cloud were already crazy enough. I knew tifa wouldnt make it unfortunately. I hoped of course to but its just not how the game works out their in the business side of things. We all want something but its what they feel is necessary to make the maximum profit and more...ill get him even though i only ever played the demo for ff16 but hes not a bad choice. Hes basically devil jins counter i feel or better. Like a playable boss character. Just my opinion though 🤷
