- Our focus is to teach you the Alexander Method™. It is a time-tested method based on the principles of great art. Bill was a student of the Old Masters and his work proves it. You can learn Bill’s techniques from Bill himself or with Tom Anderson in Master Class. (Don't let the name fool you. Master Class is a proven, step-by-step course that is designed for everyone!)
We want to help you become the artist you are meant to be.

You paint with your heart like Mr, Alexander. No wonder you are such great friends! You paint with your heart. Thanks for all the time you give us.
Wish we still had Lowell Speers & Bill Alexander around. So grateful for the person who found their videos and posted them for the world to enjoy.
Lowell is still alive. Look him up on Facebook.
I’ve just found. It looks like old videos, but didn’t realize they weren’t around
Lowell is alive but is currently 86 years old according my Google search.
I’ve never seen this guy before, but I’m impressed. Hes good at explaining the liquid white, which is often skipped over. The fingerprint test is very helpful.
I love your work. I’m an old woman who studies art in College. I’ve raised six children. Now I have time to paint. You are refreshing all that I’ve forgotten .
Never seen you before, but I really love your teaching way, so I will follow you for as long as you are teaching; thank you! NY Villar😊
What a wonderful person and painter.Terrific technique and very simplistic. We like you a lot down here in Melbourne.
I find your paintings sooo relaxing keep them coming , x Margaret m
These mums are FABULOUS !
Very hard for a novice like me , but might give it a try .
Thank You Lowell for inspiring us. 😘
Bob Ross was a student of Bill Alexander, he used magic white. I think it is half linseed oil and half turp with titanium white..
The Production Guys, (Lighting, Camera Person's, Audio, Mix, Director), were off their game at filming, or the Camera feed was off in it's "light, contras, balance" setting.
It's a really good Tutorial, good thing the close-ups had reasonable lighting.
This man did a really good "Series of Florals" for Bill Alexander's Tutorial Shows. A most effective Instructor.
Guessing this was filmed in the mid 1980's, based on Popular Color References: (Mauve and a Country Blue were in peak Decor Color Trend in 1984 - 1986. I recall this well, my son was born Superbowl Sunday, 1985. (Miami/Dan Marino vs San Francisco/Joe Montana, Montana and his SF Team prevailed). I missed that game, but was watching the next year and "My Bears we're Superbowl Champs!' 1985-86 Season. Sweetness (Walter Payton), remains my favorite Running Back ever.
Very sweet memories, (except the labor and etc), my handsome son is 37 at present, and that boggles my mind.
GO BEARS!!!
Love this tutorial but you need more light in your studio, it's very dark. Sometimes hard to see what you've painted if using dark tones.
I was about to make the very same comment
Me too! Straining to see detail. More light please!!!
this painting is so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you so very much War Lord!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful art all ways
As most realize, the studio lighting is off in this video. "The light source appears to be singular", causing the dark area on the canvas to go darker, shadow, and keeps the value of the colors used from being viewed.
The stage lighting obviously needed a camera/video check. Cameraman can't always gauge this through his view through the lens.
That's why "Pre-filming Lighting Checks" are necessary like "Sound Checks" are for Studio Audiences and Recording.
I was married into the Entertainment Business with both Live Audiences and a Viewer Audience. The views don't realize how much "prep" goes into a Show.
There's routinely a Sound and Lighting Engineers, and a Production Director to capture the Values of both for the desired of these and "Stage Set" (placement of furniture) to all be correct.
Possibly they were running with a short staff and/or unexperienced short staff.
The viewer is unable to capture the full value of the colors, in this particular video.
It doesn't affect the actual fower heads, but the stems, some leaves, and the background, all the color values of these are missing.
A worthy example for film/camera, Production students. My son majored in Production and is a skilled "behind the camera and editing" professional, although he's working in a different field now.
I would love to see him return to this Creative Field.
It looks so real, paper daisys, so light in tough, Wow,😮😊
Thanks for the video, love it, great artist.
Complimenti maestro! Grazie 😊
Beautiful thank you
I really like your painting.
Parabéns e gratidão. Deus abençoe-o
some light on the canvas would be nice.
I thank you for sharing your video with us. It was a joy to watch and learn.
I enjoy this work
Thanks
Lowell sir just makes flowers
hi Lowell, enjoying your flower painting very much can you tell me about the sable brush is it very expensive and where I can buy. j zieve Zimbabwe
You can purchase the brushes here: store.alexanderart.com/search?type=product&q=sable+brush
With regard to whether or not Lowell is yet sharing this planet with us, I cannot find any record but his FB account. He hasn't posted anything there since 2013, so I'm assuming he is not. Perhaps someone at Alexander Art knows? I'd love to find out he's still with us.
Wonder of all, we're now friends on FB.
I also did a search and just old stuff on FB,
@@crotnem Lowell and I are now friends on FB. The "old stuff" is because he keeps it set to friends only now. We even chatted briefly.
Beautiful painting 😀
Looks like I can learn fro
You. 🙏🏼
Thank you so much.
Gostei e muito lindo
Magnifk top art ❤
Bravissimoooooo
Found the filming very dark!
These are 30-40 year old tapes or digital copies of tapes. I don't think there is any "re-mastering" going on, so technical issues aren't likely to be resolved.
So did I. Some parts were hard to see at all.
Thank you it great but its dark so mutch
Eu gosto muito da sua aula
Someone please, what is Magic white?
The best one i have seen until now
Very hard to follow as it’s so dark
Wonderful
what is Magic white?
I'm wondering as well
I would say it's paint. A kind of primer and thinner in one.
It's basically a 50/50 mix of Titanium white and safflower oil.
Can I try this with acrylic colour?
You would need an extender or blending solution for the paint to move like it does w/oils.
Fantastisch. Ich liebe ihre Kunst.
Sorry word…touch
A bit to dark but love your art!
Hello. Do you have any sunflowers for me??? 🙏❤️
So beautiful penting
These flowers don’t like Mums at all. Mums from Siberia or Sahara?
They look exactly like the ones my dad used to grow in his garden.

is Lowell still alive ?
Yes he is...
@@GrayscalePainting He is? I found his FB page, but it hadn't been updated in 11 years or so. I assumed he'd passed. Good to hear. His techniques with flora are fascinating.
@@wadepatton2433, this actually a pretty good question Wade I see that the last written statement was June 12th but they could have been June 12th 11 years ago the last time I've ever text him I need to be about 8 years ago or so had to be around the time he did the Elvis Presley leather jacket after that I ever really heard too much if he still alive he would be in his late 70s I would assume
Mum
Talented , but the production is very poor quality and difficult to see ! Love the work !
Larry. We apologize for the quality. These shows were filmed between 1986-1994. prior to HD.
Una maravilla de pintura,
too dark.
daj więcej światła ,za ciemno ,słabo widać
Good final painting but poor quality video.
You are no Bill Alexander..so change your entry name!!!
There were 5 other guest painters on the show over the years. Just don't watch it if you don't like anyone but bill. Simple
Lowell Speers never claimed to be Bill Alexander, they worked together. Pay attention.
The 5 guest painters in the “Art of” series:
Diane Andre, Lowell Speers, Robert Warren, Buck Paulson & Sharon Perkins
