It would have helped if he gave better details of the numbers of some of the brushes he was using....because he seemed rushed with using the brushes everytime he picked one up. The camera man also didn't do well with zooming in to actually give us a better look at exactly the brushes. They're is alot of brushes that could look similar. Beautiful painting .....but the execution of teaching this painting could have/ should have been better. I've seen better teaching, again absolutely beautiful painting.
Lowell had 27.5 minutes to complete an entire painting. His focus was not to teach which brushes to use. We have other programs for that. His goal was to inspire people to pick up and paint. Most of the shows on our channel were originally filmed for PBS and had to be done in 27.5 minutes.
I've never painted Florals and be happy with them. I have more trouble with the techniques as well as colors. This guy makes it look so easy I just want to jump through the camera..

Nowell seems a bit rigid here, like he's not comfy with the camera yet. I'll bet it's an earlier work than most that I've seen here.

@@andycoppes i have been watching some of lowells videos lately as i am a massive fan of Bill and because youtube has been showing 1 of Bills vids everyday i noticed some of the vids were not Bill but this man called lowell so i thought i'd watch it anyway and to be honest i do like his videos and he is a great painter too and whilst searching for 1 of Bills vids to watch i saw the pic of lowell with that funky look and i had to watch it
This technique is not as easy (for me) as it looks, though Lowell Speers is one of the better art tutors on TH-cam. He does take the trouble to explain and demonstrate his brush strokes and to emphasize the areas where problems might occur. I really enjoy his tutorials and practising his methods.

Well we weren’t happy about it lol. He had transitional lenses and we were painting outside so they went dark. He does look stylish though.
