Killer price for what it is, highly recommend as well based on what I see in your video and my previous experience with earlier versions of these boards.
It’s 305 euro to get it here to Eu.. that’s $330 for the stainless steel version with alu plate..stark difference from the $199 +$40 shipping hahaha..also I agree about the 1.2mm hotswap pcb would rather have 1.6mm
top/gasket dual mount plus a hefty weight on a tkl for that price is super value honestly. The only thing holding me back from buying it is just how boring it looks on each side. I really hope they make something like the tiger80 but with a weight cuz the side profile on the alu version was super nice for the price. It just got overshadowed by the tiger lite and the fact that they only offered flex cut pcbs for it.
@arpeykeys it does look kinda boring, it's one of the more simple designs and i think that's what keeps the price lower. the alu tiger was cool but the lite sounded better bc it was plastic @lorenzogazzola328 the cidoov75 has a horrible spacebar. and it has nothing in common with the board in this video lmao. what a strange comparison to make.
@@AndyVNguyen for sure, especially when weights are usually a big chunk of any board with a weight. I haven’t tried it myself yet but I think the tiger80 alu wouldve been killer if it had a normal 1.6mm pcb.
Does the 1.2mm pcb have a bad effect on the sound and typing feeling of the keyboard compared to the 1.6mm pcb? I'm very confused because hotswap is only available on the 1.2mm pcb, not on the 1.6mm pcb.
Seems like a bummer KBDFans (among others) haven’t gotten the message on the spacebar mounting points! Feels kinda surprising given that feedback’s been shared on quite a few boards (feel like you mentioned it on the taco) and plenty of folks have gotten it right for awhile now (e.g. my Sonnet and Arc60).
@@AndyVNguyen, yeah perhaps generic Hiney PCBs will work. Not sure why they keep releasing 1.2mm though. This would probably beat the Frog TKL in the sound category if the PCB was 1.6mm.
hiney pcbs will not work. this is using a proprietary pcb that has the mcu on the daughterboard itself. this allows the customer to just replace the jst rather than the whole pcb. and the 1.6mm pcb's dont exist yet unfortunately.
I have a tiger 80 light and I also have the qk80. I've also had the keychron Q3. By far, my favorite board of all of them is the tiger 80 lite. I really wish that board wasn't discontinued
The kbd8x mkII is so much of a sleeper. I bought it last year at around 230 in the secondhand market and I think it has a lot of interest in every single meetup i have brought it to thus far. It has no reason being that good in terms of feel and sound for the build i went with it. A force break + taped flex cut with PC plate/cherry mx franken tactiles made it slap at least a tier above its original price class, which was surprising considering the original price point was universally regarded as a super overpriced board that is due a relic of its time. For what it's worth it's now in my 3-keyboard rotation with the Alina80 and Cloudline, and it's unabashingly the worst looking board I have by far but the typefeel and sound made it worth keeping and using over any of the other boards I had including a rather lacklustre iron180
definitely a great project board to make sound good. CL and iron180 look better but kinda meh in sound and meh for the price you pay. I'm dallying the kbd8x mkiii now !
@@kaeroseon as far as I remember, boards with steel weights are typically higher pitched. Steel is also more dense than brass. Also the reverberation from the case should transfer to the weight. Similar to plates, copper and steel are higher pitched due to its density and stiffness.
Sure, I stand corrected. Good job in proving that I got that wrong lol. Got anything insightful to add? The point there was there is a weight difference ergo might affect the sound. I dont entirely remember Keybored's content but his test prove that there is a difference in sound with plate materials based on weight/mass and material stiffness. Check it out in case you haven't seen it.
there is the tiniest of holes for sound to travel through (for the jst) to hit the weight. i do not think the weight is making a huge difference here as it is not a through hole weight. when i build with both the ss/copper they sounded generally similar enough. IMO the aesthetic/price of the weights should be considered more heavily than the sound. The last situation where I remembered the weight affecting the sound was going from Alu to Copper in the 910 ME's. Alu is very different from copper so that was a big jump. But SS>Brass>Copper are so similar in density that it hasn't made a discernible difference to my ears.
envoy is superior by a wide margin in pretty much every way possible, that's not to say it doesn't have its own problems. IMHO neo65 is the best 1st keyboard on the market rn
Tofu has more consistent sound and is a little more versatile with more colors and mounting options. Top mount will sound a little deeper but less poppy while the other 2 mount on the tofu will have a softer feel and creamier sound. Envoy is a little bit sleeker looking and has softer typing feel but less options and can look a little boring. It also sounds inconsistent. I prefer the tofu myself but both are good. The neo65 is probably the best value option right now though.

Almost all these boards are out of my budget (I'm poor) but man, it's good to see that there are high quality ones that I can actually dream of maybe affording at some point if I got lucky and it wouldn't cost me like $600. Plus, when these type of boards start coming down in prices, we start to see more features and polish in even cheaper options (that seems to be the way it's been trending anyway, I mean, hell, the number of cheap boards you can get that are hot swap and have at least some foam in them these days is unreal at almost any price point).
