@@weepingangel904 omg hiiiiii DONT LOOK AT ME
My hand are covering my eyes.
Yeah lol
I remember when this episode first aired. I was a 10 year old kid so excited for a new episode of Doctor Who. Was even more excited when I started sleeping again.
This is a "doctor who is for kids" moment right here
Fam I was 7 when I saw this and was exactly the same, excited to see a new episode but when it was done I was traumatised for years 🤣
@@jamesbeddis1059 Same. 14 years later and I only just got the courage to watch it for a second time a few months ago 😆
Now it's one of my favourite episodes.
HAHA yes i could never sleep as a kid after watching the weeping angels episodes
Me too bro me too!
Those were the best days and last days of the simple quiet life
I love the fact that the angels don’t move when the camera is looking at them (when they shake the box) almost implying that because we the audience can see them they are locked as stone
Somewhat terrifying coupled with the fact that the image of an Angel is an Angel by itself.
That’s why I dislike in the eleventh doctors weeping angel episode (forgot the name) when they start moving, I get they’re a different type of weeping angel but it still defeats some of its mysticism
@@captainpep3but the eleventh doctor angels are weaker. They cant get out of stone state, so theyre slower and it kindve makes sense
@@uzairahmed4197 I guess so, but the entire idea of the doctor telling rose to walk “like she can see them” was kinda dumb to me, but overall I do actually like that two parter, it’s pretty good, I just really don’t care for that one part
Oh man, it took me a re-watch to realize *that's* what was bothering me so much. There's another bit in here where both of them look at the TARDIS with Angels in the shot, and I suddenly realized that they couldn't move because the audience was watching. It made us, the viewers, a part of the plot without ever pointing it out.
Weeping Angels could have easily been used in a horror movie.
Honestly, Doctor Who has many episodes that are borderline horror, I legit got scared with many of them as a kid, even more than with an actual horror movie.
Ya them, the Empty Child and the Vashta Narada would each be good choices.
@@arthurmartin4616 or midnight
Is a good horror concept
@@alfieingrouille1528 Midnight is one of the few episodes where the Doctor was outright beaten and helpless, and was only saved from imminent death because someone was smart enough to recognize what was going on and very bravely sacrificed herself. Honestly one of the scariest Doctor Who episodes, if not the scariest.

*f-

Blink one eye at a time, although what if it somehow gets closer to the line of sight of your other eye?
yeah you can just blink with one eye and then blink with the other
Just like scp 173
This concept is ungodly terrifying.
Ironic. Cause you know, angels
Edit: *Please stop replying to this comment*
Captain Mega well Satan and so on are angels too soo...nothing ironic
@@LoserShane Maybe but angels are mostly associated with God then Satan
Captain Mega yeah I know what you meant lol they still angels none the less but I get what you mean dw you good
@@LoserShane i mean, you are right
I love how the 4th wall is broken: weeping angels stop moving when a characters looking at them but also when the one who watch this episode see them (like when the light turned on/off, no characters could see them, only us) that's an impressive details it's like you have an impact on them but also maybe they can have an impact on you...
A few later episodes add more levels of horror to the Weeping Angels, but the trick is that they also start to break this "fourth wall" rule of sight. People act like the extra rules about them make them so much *more* terrifying even from beyond the fourth wall, but the fact that they break the sight rule completely kills it.
If they can move while the viewers are looking at them, we have no effect on them, and thus they have no effect on us.
When we, the viewers, could stop them moving just as surely as anyone in-universe, they maintained that subtle level of "Yup, they're real and could get you, too". But once we no longer impact them, that's lost and they're just another TV monster.
@@Blazieth Seeing the angels moving was cool, but it ruined the charm
Yall remember the episode where they said the image of a weeping angel is a weeping angel?
@@Blazieth 😊😅

If you think they're bad, imagine how bad they are when you're a Dalek. When even the image of an Angel can become an Angel, and Dalek's only ever see through sensors...
Great. Thanks for those nightmares.
@@pogigwapo5093 Think of it like this. Why would Angels go after Daleks? They’re creatures bred or created for war, they serve no other functions except to purify the universe. That’s not a lot of potential energy for Angels to consume. Daleks can’t even really die unless they are killed, seeing as when they grow inferior they are stuffed beneath Skaro’s cities in the “sewers”. Angels cannot determine when someone will die, and they can’t bank on the chance of a Dalek getting killed unless the Doctor is around. So while a Dalek’s energy could be limitless for them, its like the most expensive buffet.
@@SeaJayyyy Daleks are one of the few beings Angels cannot kill. Despite the physical strength of the Angels, they can't destroy Dalek armour meanwhile I think a Dalek gun set to maximum extermination could potentially destroy an Angel. Daleks by themselves can't blink, which means they can stare at an Angel for eternity.
The fact that two of the statues are played by actual humans makes it even more terrifying

For all their power, the Weeping angels have one weakness:
Apart from the whole freezing into rock when another creature sees them, including themselves, they are poisoned by paradoxical energy. Also, if you can build a device that can drain time or temporal energy from something, that’s another weapon against the angels.
It’s impressive how effective these lo-fi effects are. Very cleverly conceived.
"They're looking at each other. They're never gonna move again."

What the doctor says about them is wrong, as well. You CAN kill a stone, just smash it to pieces with a hammer, or with explosives... of course he never uses weapons or explosives so as far as HE is concerned they are invulnerable.

Try this. Look at an object about 2 meters from you, although you are focusing on that object, you can still see to the left and right of that, its just blurry. Peripheral vision covers more than just the stuff in front of you, you can still see to the left and right, it would just be out of focus. They may have blocked the angel seeing in front of it, but they could still see the angels to their left and right.
@@DalekCaanOfSkaro I suppose you're right, thanks for clearing that up.
Here's a strategy for when Larry was in the same room as the one angel in the beginning. As soon as it freezes, just walk around it and stand on the other side of the room, then blink. It moves fast but first it has to waste time looking around the room for you, then moving towards you. It couldn't know that you stepped behind it while it was stone because it was not alive the whole time you were watching it. Then repeat by continuously moving behind it whenever you have to blink. Boom, you've just outmanuvered a weeping angel
Omg that's amazing XD
