I totally underestimated how strong your knight would be ending up on e6, getting tunnel vision on finding my bishop on e5 (where it get's traded off anyways). In fact, I thought I was busted if 27. Nb5 where if QxQ Nexd4 and I lose d6 and soon the queenside! Now I see I could take on d5 and have the time to swing my rook over to protect b7, so I guess it would be "fine" in the sense that I'd still be fighting an uphill battle, but man. There was a ton to calculate. I was very worried at that point. I also thought Qxf2+ was decisive! It's one of those psychologically boosting moves, and I was shocked to see the evaluation have it dead even. I wish you had more time at that point, on lichess I could have given you the +15 seconds a few times. If 31. Nxe4 Rxc1 32. Nxf2 Rxe1 33. Kg1 could have been wild (though thats wishful thinking since black is a bit better there). Same with the line the computer gave with Nxe4 Rxc1 Rxc1 where I can't play Qxb2 because a m4 with Nf6+ Kf7 Rc7+ (Kxf6 Qg5#) Nd7 Rxd7 Re7 Qf8#! My favorite little wrinkle in the game is that Nxe4 on move 32, even after Re3 still has some tricks. I have to give up my queen with ...Rxc1, Nxf2 Ng3+ Rxg3 where I have to see that I can't just play hxg3 because (Qf8+ Kh7 Ng5#!) instead seeing Rxf1+ Kh2 NOW hxg3+ and Rxf2!! (another f2 capture because of the threat of Ng4+ winning the queen if KxR!). I'd be a piece up, but the position is absurd. Just a ton of super sharp positions, like you said, one slip and either of us gets busted. And h6 turned out to be a mistake! Crazy. I definitely got outplayed in the middlegame and feel fortunate to come away with this one. I think it was mainly due to the time pressure you were in. As always, your videos are awesome and instructive, so thanks again for the game and glad to do the Tricky Knights proud!

I saw Nxe4 because the Knight on h5 hangs and is his primary attacker and it comes with tempo on his queen. in positions like that it is good a good rule of thumb to find moves which attack his queen even if it means sacrificing because there could be counter play with any tempo you get. the tempos are more valuable than material at that point.
Was 25. Na4 an option? You didn't mention it during the game or in the post mortem, but wouldn't that completely overload c5 where the knight is still pinned to the queen? Maybe ...Qb4 works as a response I suppose. Love the commentary on these longer games.

What might have become obvious from my question is that I am not very good at chess thus couldn't predict what would have happened. Keep up the good work.

He could! But black would response with Ng4+, forking the queen and king and thus getting the queen back. That would lose a pawn, refute white's attack (by exchanging the queen) and lead to an endgame with an advantage for black.
haha its so funny you considered Bd7 and Re8 to be good moves that you missed xD. Never would I play those in that position. Gotta find a way to move that knight out of the way and play f5 correct?
I think most of the issue was the passive white bishop. It was so indecisive for so long and took away large portion of your time. But a really good game. Most of the tricks you missed was mostly computer moves. Hard to see.
Incorrect. The promotion comes with DOUBLE check, you cannot capture both pieces. RxN, hxg2+, Rh3 g=Q++ The promoted queen on g1 is checking the King on h2 and the queen on f2 is also checking the king... The King has no legal moves, and you still can't capture two pieces in one move in chess. It's a very fine mate.
If you go to @57:41 in the video Stockfish is calling for a mate in 4 in the exact position we are discussing; and that's with throwing pieces away just to delay the mate. Rook takes knight followed by Rh3 is just getting mated faster.

I am new to chess so this may be a dumb question... But on that star move when the queen took f2... Why couldn't Jerry take the queen with his King?

On your 18th move, I'm really surprised that you did move Bh6(1). That would have provided the slight in his pawns that you needed to get to his king.
