This. While Wemby is getting better it just feels like he gets a bit too fancy sometimes, when he could just throw a midrange which no-one could block.

@at4091 Yao wasn't that good. The only reason he looked alright was because he was playing less comp. But don't get it twisted he'd look like a goat center in the 90s

Yeah, many atrocious passes came his way and he caught them. I was low key impressed. Also, he is quick on his feet, he look much better than Wemby when sliding laterally
Damn. Nice fundamentals, surprisingly quick hands. Doesn't mess around with jump shots (hello, Wemby). Downside: He's got slow feet, but he knows exactly where to put them.
he does have slow feet but he makes up for it with awareness and IQ. I like how Edey plays to his strengths and doesn't act like a guard. If he can figure out it out, he could be a huge piece for Memphis moving forward. fr tho he does have quick hands for his size, some of those blocks were spur of the moment

I love this Game! 🏀 ❤ Go EDEY! 💪🏻
Nah he Landed in the perfect situation. JJJs versatility defensively makes up for Edeys weaknesses at that end. Also Ja is showing this season how underrated of a leader he is on the court. He’s constantly coaching the rook and making sure he’s not getting down on himself when he makes mistakes. Not to mention Ja has really dialed down the scoring to get his guys involved more and surprisingly being a superstar will allow the rookie to get plenty of post touches every game. He went exactly where he was supposed to go…. Other teams wouldn’t know what to do with him.
8 teams are regretting passing up on this guy. I remember his progression from his freshman to sophomore year at Purdue and thinking this guy really is developing fast. His progression already from his time at Purdue to now is amazing. Please come and play for the Pacers!
I said before the draft that Edey would end up being by far the best player and I'm 100% correct. He is barely even getting to play for some reason by this game right here shows what he's capable of. 25/12 in only 29 minutes. I predicted he would easily average 20/12.
@@AATM.Sports True it's just i haven't seen the middy game from Zach yet, while Yao has been somewhat consistent with mid-close range jumpers since he was 18.

Oh boy. If he can hit 3s on a consistent level, look out. Those transition 3s where he's trailing the fast break they leave him open he can cash in. When he's not his giving us the old school low post game
The best argument someone made for him during the draft process was that defensively there were already several drop coverage Cs like Jonas Valanciunas in the league playing big minutes on the basis of their offensive contributions, their rebounding and rim protection. From that point on I was sold he’d be a draft steal if he ended up with a team who planned to use his strengths and minimize his weaknesses and Memphis is doing that.
New fan of him. tired watching the player I admire with the same height as Edey chucking up 9 threes or more a game and only making 20% of it. His Wemby bdw
Is only weight thing now he is easily moved by other Centers and can't make post moves but still is the Best defender in NBA and a top 5 Center, he's growing his muscles naturally not going fat and slower or killing his shooting ability like shaq or yao
@@bombie5549 I'm not hating just stating facts, I root for Wemby and I don't mind him taking threes, maybe just four or Five. But 9-10 attempts per game and sometimes only making 2 of them at this point hes a 3 point chucker. He's 71% in the paint and 25% from jumpers worst in the NBA. He'd be so much more efficient if he stopped chucking too many threes. That's why I liked Edey, who uses his height and size to his advantage and only attempts threes very often
Love watching Edey because he has the proportions of an average dude, just scaled up. If you showed me a picture of Wembanyama, Sarr, or Risacher without any frame of reference, I could tell you they were tall because they look so slim. Not so much the case with Edey. Those are just his first nba games... I dont mean to sound crazy, but if wemby keeps trying to play like a guard I think Edey might be the most prolific scorer of the 2

It’s coach’s fault to not call his play for the tie. Lob to him, he can either make a short range hook shot or kick out for a three, rather it ended up as a sloppy play without even making a shot!
My favorite thing about Edey is that he doesn't try to block shots into the third row--and just give the ball back to the other team. He blocks it to a teammate to start the fast break. Bill Russell's number is retired on ever team for doing just that.
Yves Missi is super nice though and looking like one of the steals of this dradt. Plus, the Grizzlies picked before the Pels anyways so I'm not sure how they could've taken him.
