@@thatslotcarguy I hve never seen one glued in but usually you have to cut the magnet tabs to get the magnets out. Either way moving to something like an SCX / Policar magnet design would be the way forward where you can adjust or remove it.
Is the 4wd the same on both cars? I race 1/10th 2wd buggies and just by replacing items within drive train gives a huge difference with rolling resistance less resistance equals less effort with acceleration, cornering

I have the Puma. A great car. I find it handles well when the back end slides out into borders. That may be the four wheel drive.

Something Scalextric need to do is make the magnets removable.
