      Well, that’s great news! Glad you like the layout and are thinking of duplicating it. I too received my first set when I was 10. Got back into it when I was around 40. Out of it at 50 and now really into it again at 65. No age limit for this wonderful hobby. Go for it! Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Found you Dave and subscribed, what a great layout you have built, and some great modelling skills on show!! As for the race a very exciting close finish!! Which brings me to say that my Scalextric set back in the 1970's had banked corners and we could never stop the cars from flinging off on those said corners!! Nearly had my old mum's eye out a few times 😂🤣

      Thanks for subscribing and commenting Ian. I am not a very creative person at all, but something happens and I can build things for my track for some reason. I am getting pretty good at fixing my crashed foamy RC planes too. lol. Anyways, slot car racing has come a long way over the years. The tracks are computerized now and the cars stay on the track better with the built in magnets and grippy tires. The real pros take the magnets out. This hobby sure helps me get through the long Canadian winters when I can’t fly. Keep your flying videos coming and I will try to do the same with my little slot car channel. Cheers mate! Dave

      Thanks for the nice comments Pat. You have a good eye for detail. lol This layout was just on the dark grey carpet to start and just got bigger onto the green carpet. Somehow it just all fit together. As for the scratch builds, I seem to be able to work with foam board. Keep me away from wood. Thanks again.

    Very nice layout! I can appreciate you making your own buildings and walls out of foam board. I also made a pit garage, office and walls for my track out of foam board, and plan to do a snack stand and benches. It saves a lot of money and is also fun! Cheers!

      Dennis, thank you. I kind of screwed up with that race. I only had to pit twice. Should have been three times which would have made for a much closer race. Next race will be 24 laps and for sure it will force me to pit three times. Thanks for watching and commenting. Dave

    like it, as a kid, I had one with a load of the extra track, I had two transformers as one wasn't enough but I had no one to race so I set up a pace car with an elastic band around the hand controller, worked fairly well, suppose there's something to do that nowadays but back in 68 it was good enough. . I always like to build in flyovers and tunnels made out of shoe boxes, I had the Lotus & McLaren F1 cars, Ford GTE & Dodge Charger Indi cars, motorcycle and sidecar outfits that would not stay on the track until I added magnets, endless nights of racing against a rubber band, I usually won.

    • @Talladavid
      @Talladavid  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah, those were the days Sicks6six. I would have received my first slot car set in 68 as well at the age of 10. It was made by a company called Eldon. The things I used to do with that set back then. I wished I kept it. No rubber bands needed these days. lol. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      @@majordog2399 I think it’s time to get that Scalextric set out of the loft and see if you can get it going again. It’s too bad that almost everything is made in China these days. Having said that, we complain when things cost so much so it has to be made there. Thanks Majordog. Dave.

      For sure George. I can drive my car about 3 seconds per lap faster than the ghost car. But when I have to stop for 3 pit stops for a total of at least 30 seconds, it makes for very close races. Thanks for your reply. Dave

    Nice track layout what are the dimensions and length ? So I take it the ghost car doesn't have to stop for pit stops ?

    • @Talladavid
      @Talladavid  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks XA351GT. The dimensions are 8’ x 18’. The length of the track is 80’. You are correct. The ghost car can’t stop for pit stops. It is calibrated to go around the track in 12.5 seconds. I can go around in about 9.5 seconds. So with me stopping for 3 pit stops at 10 seconds each, it makes for a close race in the end. Especially if I come off the track. how do you get a set/fixed speed for the ghost car?

    • @Talladavid
      @Talladavid  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Using the Scalextric Racing App or what I use, Magic ARC App hooked up to my tablet. You calibrate your ghost car before the race. It asks you to go around the track at the slowest possible speed. After that it asks you to go around the track at the fastest possible speed without the car coming off the track on the curves. It’s all done on the tablet. It’s lots of fun.
