You are still saving lifes with this video !! AI also pushed the botton and thanks to your video, I can pop it out again. I search in many videos, and this is the only one , with the solution to this common problem. Thanks again !!! Greetings from México.
Best install video by far. Exactly as you said, that black clip was stubborn but at least I was ready for it after seeing how you did it. Just did my red LED shifter change with this video 😎
@@banshee2seei couldn't seem to get the leather cover off the old shifter, those plastic pieces seem to be stuck and won't pry off even from underneath. Any tips?
@farmansehgal5108 Hi yes that was probably the 2nd hardest part of install. The white plastic on the knob is what you have to get pinched enough to slide out. If you don't care about stock shifter could just break those white tabs off. I just kept squeezing them with pliers to make them a little more flexible to pinch together.
There is that white hook that allows you to shift the knob while pressing the button, right ? So you do not need to take an old shift knob apart to "unhook" it first ? I saw a video where the guy initially disassembled the old one to unhook that white stick and then managed to pull it out. Thank you
Yeah nothing needed to unhook shift knob if that's what you mean other then breaking the pinch clip loose? Knob slides right out after clip broke apart.
@@banshee2see well, there are plenty of videos, where they are taking the old shift knob apart before pulling it out - for example here in 5th minute th-cam.com/video/YyB3C80hHTU/w-d-xo.html
I accidentally pushed in the button on my factory led knob and this is the only video I’ve found a solution on. I tried it with a few screw drivers with no luck. Do you know of anything else I could try to use? Or where I could get something similar to that tool without having to buy a whole new knob?
@kaitlyn hickey I'm guessing may be the same. Here is the contact to the place I ordered from. Maybe they can assist with the tool. I would just give ya mine but I don't know where I put it haha
I'm not sure if you could use a long thin screwdriver or not. I was thinking maybe carve something close out of plastic that looks like that plunger not sure if VW has a trick?

Awesome to hear and glad it worked out!!
Yes indeed!!! The man is the BEST!!
Thanks man, really helpful
Glad to hear....thx for watching!!
Instead of using the clamp to hold on the gear shift knob, would a zip tie work since it's just pinching the tabs together?
Sorry just saw this and yes a ziptie may work just not sure would last forever 👍
Great video brother, super helpful. Thanks!
You are welcome thx for watching!

@@banshee2see yeah I thought about breaking it but I didn't want to hahah, I'll try again to pinch it
@farmansehgal5108 I started prying with a little pressure the black plastic with a screw driver as I was pinching white plastic and it finally gave.
Good Job!!
@@mariusadriango thx 👍👍
