someone mentioned a comment from Elon recently that he wanted the engineers near the line for the Model 2 (Alpha) so they can perfect it and supposedly there is a line for it under development at Texas.. can't remember the source - maybe Brian or Dillon? Makes sense - then they can duplicate it everywhere - getting engineers to Mexico will not be easy or quick but they can have the line perfected by the time the factory is ready.

We heard that on Dillon's channel as well as Brian mentioning it. Great sources of good info.

You are not counting the new Tesla model Y, new Tesla model 3, new cybertruck, new semis, new megapacks, new FSD implementation outside US and Canada, continual expansion of superchargers & service centres, Optimus ramp-up. Model 2 production will be tested in giga austin before being transferred to giga mexico. Giga austin and berlin manufacturing will also be ramped up. Up to US$1 billion new investment just for Dojo within a 12 month time frame. Enough to keep Tesla occupied?

I do wonder if part of pull back on racing to factories built is to see how this new production tech/design works. Even though giga casting has been around for a few years, we know it has not been in use with all their Y and 3 lines. Would using front and back casting allow for smaller footprints for production lines, thus the factories might be able to crank out more than originally thought? Musk willing to have the Tesla compact made in Texas at first makes me think he and the Tesla team believes smaller production lines and probably mostly robotic lines are possible now.
Lee is right about not letting ourselves get to hyped on batteries right now. We do not know how all the ramping of minerals and other materials is going and it seems like 4860 battery development is still behind.
As far as demand issues, I do not believe demand is the issue. I do believe FUD and lack of knowledge combined with high prices of many models is the issue. Sadly, new vehicle prices in general have just gone to unreal levels. So many builders and dealers seem fine with higher prices and fewer vehicles. This is where the Tesla Compact will be mind blowing if they can ramp it up quickly and Tesla hit their cost goals on it.
These next two years will establish a much clearer vision of where Tesla will be by 2030. As much as I would love to see Mexico get built quickly, it seems unrealistic to think it will open before 2027 due to suppliers and delays by Tesla possibly due to them rethinking some aspects of production. I still feel like Tesla will surprise use with another United States factory, maybe in Kentucky. With the push by the government to get more factories going, I could see Tesla wanting to do a third US factory. India I believe is a must, but if they break ground by 2028 I will be impressed.

Welcome back Lee. Agree we need Mexico as soon as possible. GigaTexas owns lots of land, but it still takes time to build. Patience is a virtue, but not one of mine.

In the end, Tesla's production of 4680 batteries is not progressing as expected 😰

No one is talking about space utilization in the factories. Everyone says they’re massive and have three floors. Teslas new box production line or parallel lines is said to be a 30 to 40% more efficient use of space. If this is true then Texas or Berlin could accommodate commercial van or model 2 preproduction lines in anticipation of the Mexico facility.

Get a Model S Plaid! I know you'll probably disregard this message... but don't! I went from a Model 3 Performance to a Model S Plaid and it's different solar systems in performance! It's truly... OMG! 😳

Think of tesla like the first MASS LOVED IPHONE.
No one could compete till iphone innovation begun to stall now iphone barely has any advantage.
Now companies can innovate to surpass the iphone that is just a unneeded update, i know military hunters and shooting range users that still use iphone 11 pro max, they dont need the 15 nor the 15 pro max.
TESLA IS PURE INNOVATION the motto is
THE ONLY GOOD PART IS NO PART.
REMOVE OR ENGINEER THE NEED OF LESS PARTS.
THE UNDERBODY IS CURRENTLY 3 parts front, battery & back
but soon it will be 2 parts Battery and body

My hunch says Mexico will ramp when the 4680 can scale and optimus is ready for its debut.

I still ignore what the reason for the Mexico delay is? If they want to build there the "model 2", they rather will use cheap LFP cells - and if yes, why don't they use CATL cells?

Supply and cost are definitely going to be the biggest holdup on EV adoption. How much business does your nearest gas station need to lose before it is no longer profitable? How many stations need to close before the remaining ones increase their prices? Range anxiety will be far worse for ICE drivers when there are fewer gas stations. I can charge my ev at home, but need to drive to the next town over to fill my wife’s tank. The adoption rate is going to increase rather than plateau as long as supply can keep up

Gas stations make all their money on food. If they're smart, they'll convert some of their pumps to chargers.

Lower cost Tesla ? India ! Southeast Asia, All Americas - N, S, Middle, everywhere... and Africa. Can you imagine a Tesla SuperCharger in the Sahara with an array of Solar panels for miles around and the energy sold to Europe ???

Legacy are not building EVs in sufficient quantities, that's the reason for the lack of adoption - Tesla can't supply that demand alone but demand there will be.

Tesla is finally falling behind in its manufacturing to keep up with potential demand allowing others to slowly creep in. Still holding long term but not liking the slow pace of advancement.

The longer it takes for Mexico to get going, Optimus gets smarter, stronger... In Mexico there will be less humans on the production floor as gen2 will be perfected in Texas. Ola Optimus, Giga P n FSD!

Everything about Tesla is crazy! The battery life, the tail lights, the interior etc. Tesla stocks is the best of them all! I have always hoped to invest in Tesla stocks one day but the thought of doing so without enough knowledge of the stocks market makes the whole thing less attractive to me. One cannot afford to lose any money in this pandemic era

What you haven't "SEEN" is the chance in my eyes. I don't really understand why you, a retail inverstor, should see everything. Investing is a fairly passive game. You are too active on what's none of your business as a retail passive investor.
