Horse training on the farm today on a stallion that's never been ridden. Meet Rowdy he is 15 years old and is a gentle horse but has never had a saddle on his back before. Jerome takes this horse to the round pen for some basic horse training and ground work. Come along and see how this horse does and how far they take him.

Jerome does a good job with horses. You can tell he loves them. That’s the kind of person that should own Rowdy.
Love that Jerome will be helping you out. That means his little brother Jessie will be tagging along, asking questions and helping you narrate. Those boys are a perfect. They will be so much help with Blake gone, as they love horses as much as you do.
That's the great "thing" about being brought up on a farm - the kids - and when you were a kid woke up every morning and RAN -
Then you get older and the snow is up to the kids' heads and they don't want to come up from the barn(s), so you put 'em under your arm and carry them and when you get up to the house, all the older ones who had you running around, give you dirty looks 😂 Nothin' like it!

I was told that paint horses that have the little spots on them always throw paint falls matter what you breed it to whether it’s true or not I have no idea I have seen some mirrors that had the spots on them and all of their babies did come out as paints. That is one beautiful horse.
Jerome has that touch with Rowdy! I like the way he brushes and touches Rowdy’s feet. Of course, Rowdy is a sweetheart of a stud horse. But WOW, Jerome has the magic touch!

This is a good partnership. With Blake leaving on Mission, Jerome and brothers can really be a big help.
Jerome really is a horse whisperer. He is so confident with the horses, when you talked about it, I could see what you meant. It show the love and respect to the horse which as you say makes them feel confident with Jerome. Also the love and care Rowdy had previously shows in his ability to trust humans. That is not always the experience animals have, but you can see what a difference it can make. ❤
I would really love to see a full video of just Jerome training the horses. Maybe put a mic on Jerome & let him do his thing lol. This guy is amazing. Jerome & Amry both has great skills with horses

It’s fun and inspiring watching Jerome working with horses. His calm, and caring no nonsense approach is good for the horses.
I think it would be awesome that Jerome and his brothers get all 3 of the horses. They know what they're doing and how to handle the horses. And they seem to love them already. I'm also glad that Jerome is able to help you out while Blake is gone.
I never realized just how beautiful Rowdy is. I mean, I thought he was a pretty horse, from a distance, but up close, WOW, he is absolutely gorgeous. He will make a fine horse for Jerome. As far as breeding him with the Arabian, oh yeah! I used to have an Arabian/ Paint cross. She was AWESOME. I do believe that if I had asked her to climb a ladder for me, she would have darn sure gave it a try. I could do anything with her. She was my best friend through jr. high and high school. Sadly, I got married and moved, and left her on mom's farm and while I was gone, she passed away.

Jerome is awesome! You had not mentioned before that he was papered, being such a kind mannered stallion like that and in the right hands he will be a fun horse for Jerome. If you've never ridden a stallion, you should. So much fun!

The people you got those horses from did great ground work with them. Jerome is a great nonsense trainer and such a connection with the horses. The horses are so calm with Jerome. Animals know people. Jerome is a good man.

HE IS GAITING! This horse is not trotting in the round pen. He will probably go to trot when relaxed but he can be trained to have a super smooth gait under saddle. He also goes easily into a super smooth short lope. Stallion or gelding, he will be an enviable horse when trained under saddle! Go Jerome!
Rowdy is so beautiful. I bet he makes pretty babies! I can't believe how well he's doing so quickly. I think it's a testament to Jerome's confidence and calmness. Seems like Jerome would be the perfect owner for Rowdy.

I don't think Rowdy tried to buck out of rebellion or even fear. It seems it just kind of surprised him because he'd never felt anything like that before. But Jerome's quick action stopped Rowdy before he had a chance to get out of control. That's what sets Jerome apart from just an average trainer. He has such great instincts. He also is so amazingly calm and at one with the horse he is working with. I hear people calling different horse people "horse whispers" but I think Jerome is one of a few that really deserve that honor. I think he IS going to make a great saddle horse out if Rowdy. 👍🐴❣
Your auction comment is right on. I have a friend that runs a rescue. She goes to the auctions buying horses that have been neglected, abused and starved. Several months later the horse is unrecognizable, healthy, soft and gentle.

Jerome has such confidence in working with any horse. Good that you found a good horseman to help you out while Blake is gone. Rowdy is so pretty. Can't wait for warm weather to see Rowdy all slicked off and given a bath! By then, Jerome will have Rowdy made into a big puppy!

If he obtains Cassie's papers, he could register the foal as a half arabian. If it has the paint/pinto coloring, he could be registered as a Pinto too (I think).
He looks like he has quarter horse in him too. A lot of paints are registered with both associations. Very nice build.

Jeome is a horse whisperer! Rowdy is my favorite color and I love his disposition. I would love to breed my half Friesian, quarter Morgan and quarter Shire black filly. But not going to breed her until this fall or next spring. I wonder if you will still have him!
I've never really been much for paint horses. Not for any particular reason, I guess I just have a preference for other colors. But I think Rowdy's color & markings are very nice. Rowdy also has a very nice, balanced, well put together build. The total package makes for a very good looking horse, pleasing to look at. He also has a very calm, confident nature about him. Very sure of himself. Seems that his. 'OVERALL' can only benefit from belonging to Jerome, who knows how to handle Rowdy as he should be handled & taught how to become a better stallion. Rowdy deserves to belong to someone who has a nature much like his own, with that two-way street of confident understanding, respect, knowledge, patience & understanding of each other. That is a great benefit for both of them to go forward in life!

I love paints. Especially black and white paints. When I was a kid and would go to my grandparents, I would run to the neighbors to talk and play with this beautiful black and white paint gelding. He was so gentle with me. His name was Diablo. One time I went and he was gone. I cry the whole time I was at my grandparents. It broke my heart because he was my best friend. It took along time to get over him. RIP DIABLO.
Rowdy is learning to have Jeromes' hands all over his body - hoofs, mouth, legs, mane - Jerome always stops to rub his hands over Rowdys' body every turn - a little walk, a big fluid rub over his body, not "pats".
Rowdy and all horses getting used to having the hands and arms rub them down in big strokes is trusting and calming behavior for everyone that comes into contact with that horse. When two or more horses put their muzzles together they're recognizing each other. Jerome runs the pad all over him and lets Rowdy smell it - so he smells himself. All of this is sensory.

Even if he wasn’t papered it shouldn’t matter. Where do some breeds come from? Someone breeding for certain traits, until they get the result they want. Then they work on registering the new breed.
I tell you what, you better be careful. I’m likely to try to steal jereome to Texas to start futurity barrel horses for us! We could always use this kind of colt starter around north Texas!!!!

Jerome said he doesn't normally rush when training a horse. Then why the rush? Is there a rush to sell him or some other reason to accelerate training? He seems like a fine young man, was just wondering. I prefer to see a horse gentled and not broke. Working within the horse's natural inclinations to get best end result seems like best thing for such a great horse. Why the knee hook & bow to ground at the end? It seemed a bit unnatural & too much like old school breaking a horse's spirit versus gentling him. Perhaps I just love horses too much? I don't like seeing them forced when gentle persuasion works just as well, if not better in the long run., it takes more time & great patience, but the horse will be the better for it. Relationship over rulership, my perspective on horse & human interaction.

Rowdy is gorgeous---if his disposition is so calm and he has a good mind, it might be nice to pass along his genetics. I think you've all really benefited from the great care your friend (Donna?) gave those horses prior to you taking them off her hands.

I'm of the opinion that horses should only be bred if they are exceptional examples of their breed AND of good temperament.
And even then, only when you have a clear plan for the future of the foal.
Papers and pretty and it-would-be-so-cute just aren't enough.
This lovely horse, Rowdy, who may be a good stallion, would be a great gelding... and have a much less solitary, happier life for it.

Cont: 🐎 Sorry Alan closing that first part was a slip up. Anyway, I was saying, I've seen several horses become very spooked or nervous around other riders, even their owners after this same person thought, 'he could straighten them out' with firm discipline! Those horses were never the same, a few of them had to end up using martingales each time they were ridden after all of that by their owners. It broke our hearts to have seen the changes in those horses. I'm not trying to say that he's this way, I'm trying to say be careful & don't let your horses start to get nervous under any conditions. It's up to you to stop it but I think you should talk to your brother & Amber and see what they have to say about it. Amber has a gentle way with horses and she has proven herself to you and all of us, your viewers. She is amazing. I haven't seen much training done by your brother, tho your Palomino stud seemed alright. I love watching your videos & I know how hard it's going to be on you, trying to hold the farm down alone with Blake leaving, but don't make an error that could put a heavier burden on your shoulders either. God bless you & your family and I hope you understand what I was saying, it was from a knowledgeable observers point of view. Love you and Vicky lots and your kids too. I'd love to see you breed Rowdy 🐎 with one of your horses. Have him pass that calm genes on down, that could really be a great asset to your farm. Most people would rather have calm, well behaved horses rather than ones that were so alert it made them seem nervous.

Love this lil' guys color and conformation!! To Jerome, great combination of the old "cowboy" way of training, incorporated with the new'ish calmer way of training. I too, have the same approach of training, it's a great style if you have the experience of being around many different horses. Much of it has to do with having the ability of reading the horse and being confident in your skills. Hat tip, awesome job Jerome!!!
That is a perfect match. Jerome can ride Rowdy and recoup some money in stud fees if he wants or geld him. But I really think you should breed Dutchess to him. Do you know if he's homozygous for black color or pinto coat pattern? He's gorgeous. Around here paint/Arab crosses are sought after, especially the black and whites.
