RIP Greg.. I was there in the early days in Berkeley & Oakland Ca with Jimmy"Chopmaster J" Dright and Shock G before Money B, DJ Fuze, Tupac and the other cast of characters. Those were some great times before the money and fame. And when the money and fame came those were some special times too.

Much love to Shock G! RIP. Used to see him randomly around Tampa, especially Ybor. Many thanks to Nelson George for being a phenomenal music historian.
Shock G was always down to earth and this cat was the truth and he did help bring P Funk to the mainstream, dug the versatility and imo Shock G never got his just due. Respect Nelson George on this one, props
RIP Shock. There’s a clip from ‘Thug Angel’ where he discusses the different ways MC’s used their voices in music that made them unique. Slick Rick, Nas, Biggie, Pac were all examples he referred to. Such an interesting man to listen to. Hopefully there’s a part 2 to this, thanks Nelson!
It's videos like this that makes TH-cam a blessing. I just wish the video was 5 hours long I want to know it all. Digital Underground was an enigma to us on the East Coast. Also, all my favorite artists and producers were P-Funk influenced E Sermon, Redman, Keith Murray, PMD etc... When Hip Hop lost the funk it went downhil.
Rest In Power Greg Jacobs/Shock G. I didn't know he was from here Tampa, until I went Downtown to River Walk, and found a permanent dedication to him in the art district next to the Straz Center. Then two months later his untimely death happened, gone way to soon.

What a quality interview by some true Funkateers. I love the fact that broman Shock G was just really trying to give p funk its due... back in 85. To me, P funk was the blackest music that we ever created. And it was instantly cosmic because it hits you in your nose area. That's the reason why we call it a "funky." It's because it had the physiological response of making us not only turn up our nose but squint our eyes in the exact same area where the third eye was. That's what makes it a cosmic groove, instantly a cosmic groove.
Word up! All these years and I never knew dat Shock was from NewYork. And check it, ...the Moment Shock said it, I immediately started hearing his NewYork accent. It was right there in front of our face all that time hidden in plain sight. R.I.P. Shock G !
RIP Shock. When I was around 19 my friends and I would follow these club promoters called 7-Oasis and I remember when they had Digital Underground at the Hollywood Palladium. Those was the days.
I had sex packets on tape in grade school. As a kid I was so enamoured with how edgy it felt to me and that the album was super diverse with different styles. They weren’t just a “rap group”. I can’t believe I sat and watched this whole thing. If it was longer I’d have kept watching. Shock seems like the coolest dude to have around. His personal style here is so dope. Rest in power my man.
Much love to Shock G and Tupac Amaru Shakur ❤❤RIP They were amazing in Digital Underground and played in a hilarious film called Nothing But Trouble with Demi Moore and Chevy Chase back in the day. They were unique....
Man, when I was young and I first saw Humpty Hump, I was disappointed when I found out him and Shock G was the same person! I remember arguing with my partner, about how they wasn’t the same person😁🤣 Rest Easy 🕊️🕯️🙏🏿

What do you mean Prince's catalogue is very, very processed but NOT RAW. ALL of his early records were RAW.
