I remember when Diesel was less expensive then gas, back in the 80's it was 65 cents a gallon. Suddenly there's a shortage of Kerosene, at least around these parts. The ponds look great David.
I haven't taken a measuring tape to the sides but the largest pond is 17 ft deep and gets shallower towards the pier. The other ponds are about 6 ft deep at the deepest.
Nice work! I Am excavating a pond. I live in Iowa where it rains more. Would I need to fill it with a hose? Also, is there a certain size pond required to fish? Do you get a lot of food from the fish in your pond?
If you have a good clay soil base then that will hold the water except for evaporation. So if you get frequent rain you should be good. I made my pond deeper than typical at 17 feet at the deepest and then it goes shallow at one end. That keeps the fish insulated during winter and summer months since they can go deeper. It also prevents the pond from drying out. I use a solar panel driven well to pump water every once in a while via a hose.
So I haven’t watched the whole thing yet. (Been following you since your first video, as I’m developing land as well) but off the bat you should have rented a E30 size maxhine about 8k lbs, would have cost the same amount for a week, but can actually dig a hole!! A skid steer is NOT meant to dig. Gonna watch this video, but don’t think it will end with a big hole.
Finished watching, impressed you actually dug a hole with it! Hand foot controls are terrible! Had it on my last bobcat. Now only want joysticks, especially for fatigue….

Yeah, wish diesel prices were lower. Thanks for the comments!
Very inspiring. I have T300, and I need a small pond dug now. It's hard to find a pro with an excavator, and if so, it's outside of my budget
Approximately what are the sizes of the ponds that you dug? I may have missed it. Just curious thanks!

Is a tracked skidsteer any quicker or easier than a good size tractor?

Did it take the whole week?
It took 6 days. I cleaned it on the 7th for return to the Bobcat store.
I hire a guy for 85 per hour with a skid steer, work out well for us

I agree!
I’m pretty sure u can change the settings to have all hand controls
@@TheHomePros6221 That’s a good suggestion. I’ll ask Bobcat next time I need their skid steer.
