Hi Nico, Thank you for your lovely comment! And best of luck for your hatch - Ihope they will all be healthy. So glad you are enjoying the videos - that is wonderful to hear. All the best 😊
I can't tell you how happy I am that Squeaky is doing well and the broody girls are settling in for their big day. I must have checked for this video at least a dozen times! Very invested in the Serama Drama!
Hi Unfocused - thanks so much for being worried for Squeaky and for caring so much. You are so kind! I was also so worried, but so glad it turned out okay. Have a wonderful weekend!
Hello Mrs R.K. My Lord what a relief to see that little Miss Squeaky is all right ! She sure had me very worried ! What an egg ! Are you going to let her sit on it ? Wonder how big the futur chick could be . Hmm ! So happy also that the broody dinosaurs settled in, they really are cute fluffy pancakes, makes me smile . I think I might be just as impatient as you for hatching day lol ! Please give the flock many cuddle from me . Have a beautiful day !
Hello Louve, It is lovely to hear from you :-) Thanks for being worried for Squeak. Me too! The egg is huge for Squeak who only weighs around 356g herself. It might have been okay for our larger Sweet Pea who weighs around 480g (before brooding) and came out of a massive 30g egg. That might give you an idea of how big a chick might be. The shells are a bit thin of the recent eggs Squeaky has laid so not suitable for hatching. The flock will appreciate your cuddle! Have a lovely day :-)
Thank you so much Susan! So touched to hear this. She had me really worried there, but luckily she is a feisty girl and managed to get it out. What a stress, and for her too. At one point I even worried it might be a respiratory issue and ordered some antibiotics too. Turned out it really was eggbinding. Thanks again. Have a lovely day
That's amazing to hear they hatched so fast. People have said that serama sometimes hatch faster. Last time it was 21 days for our serama chicks. Were yours incibator hatched?
Thanks Sam!! These chickens are endless drama, but I am so glad Squeaky is okay too and that the broodies settled. Fingers crossed for successful co-parenting! Thanks for your good wishes. Have a great weekend!
Aww little Squeaky Pops, so so glad it all worked out, i was saying to hubs- oh i hope Squeak is ok, hes like- wth are you on about?! Glad about broodies too ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Aaw! I love this comment. Your husband must have been so confused! Thanks foryour well wishes for Squeaky, and the broodies too. Hope you're having a lovely weekend 😊
@@r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266 i am but waiting for a chicken run to arrive! Doesnt take much to confuse him! I loved all the gang waiting for Squeak at the door, they are very team spirited ⭐⭐⭐🐓🐔🐣
Fun, probably! Would have been wonderful if they could have finished it off together, but hopefully they can still mother them together once the chicks are safe. The worst thing for me is the idea of them accidentally injuring the new chicks. That thought was too stressful. Am sure there will be plenty of dramatics yet knowing these two broodies! lol
I'm glad squeaky is alright now and that might be an rare ish double youk ( I can't remember how to spell it 🤣). Nearly hatch day. Excited to see what comes out. What mixture of colours will they have? Is there any colours the parents have?
Hi Cornish - It was a single yolk, but that is a good point - I never thought of that. Our silkies used to occassionally lay double yolkers, and a friend had a hen that used to lay massive double yolkers every single time. A full size hen fortunately who did was okay laying her huge eggs. Apparently seramas dont inherit colouring reliably from parents, and the chicks we had last time grew to look entirely different that when they were hatched - e.g. Mr Snuggles was very pale blond with a pale brown stripe as a chick. I'm also excited to see what they will look like as they grow! Take care
That's a good point. Someone else said this too. Our silkies used to sometimes lays double yolkers. This one was a single yolker. Sometimes serama eggs can be bigger (average around 20-22g I think) but that one was HUGE for little Squeak. Have agreat day.
Hi Laiba, I hope you enjoyed watching it. Some unexpected things delayed my schedule a bit and the videos do take time to edit to make them fun to watch. Not long to hatch day now! Take care
My rooster was running from danger and he collapsed and was making so much loud crow like noises and his comb turned purple. He looked like he had trouble breathing and after a couple minutes his comb turned red and he looked fine. Do u know what’s going on
Heart attack or stroke? Was he still or moving a little bit? Was the danger persistently chasing around so much he collapsed? He could of ran our of strength after running for that much that he needed to catch his breath.
@@cornishchickens6778 when he collapsed he kept breathing through his mouth and he was still moving a bit. After he could breathe, he just didn’t move for a while. He ran for like 15 seconds and then he started to make loud noises then he collapsed
@@thatgamingmonke1381 I'd recommend taking him to a vet as I don't know. Might be nothing or more scary it could be something serious? Now I think about it asthma maby?
@@thatgamingmonke1381 doing some research. Maby try to check these. Listen to her breathing Hold the chicken and put your hands on either side of her to feel her breathing, listen closely. Is she gasping for air? Does her breathing sound gurgly? Gasping or making a choking motion could indicate gape worm, a worm that takes up residence in your chicken’s trachea. Other symptoms would include coughing and shaking their head. If you check the throat, you can sometimes see the red worms attached to the trachea. If gape worm is suspected, it’s best to worm the flock with an appropriate wormer. Another possibility is there is something stuck in her throat. Carefully open her beak and look into her throat (if you have a helper this will be much easier). If your chicken has raspy breathing, sneezing, runny nostrils, and/or foamy eyes she could have a respiratory illness. This can also sometimes be accompanied by lethargy or loss of appetite. Basically a cold for chickens, you should keep her separate until symptoms go away. Boost her immune system with vitamins & electrolytes. I also like to use VetRx, you can put it near their nostrils or under their wing, it is kind of like a menthol rub when you are feeling congested. If symptoms are not easing within a week, antibiotics might be needed.
