Awesome update Mark. Just, hoping Texas is ready for Beryl, and nothing significant happens. Praying🙏 for those folks.

(The name) Beryl has had a long career of 42 years, dating back to 1982.
I got to see the 1994 storm, even did a short video when it came ashore in the Florida Panhandle.
It's worked a long time and deserves to finally retire. :-p

I'm so tired of Harvey being a Houston hurricane. It came in at beloved Rockport where my family has a house as a cat 4 and tore up the town, ravaged the town, it was heartbreaking. People are still rebuilding from it! 16:34

This has been a very strange weather pattern. Several days ago, Beryl forms east of the Windward Islands at a fairly low latitude and becomes a major hurricane before reaching the islands, and doing so THIS early in the season. Now, the tropical Atlantic looks devoid of any organized convection. I would love to know the atmospheric circumstances that made Beryl seemingly pop up and become a powerful storm, and now the Atlantic calmer than a sleeping baby.

Quiet times happen. It is perfectly normal for it to get busy, then take a breather before getting going again.

Is it still possible for it to be a cat 2 ? It's getting pretty close to landfall
