      @@matthew-jy5jp Loma and Usyk, like soviet boxers, also utilise the in-and-out style through pendulum stepping footwork. The main difference is that Loma and Usyk fight out of the southpaw stance and have adjusted their style to make the most of this - while also using more level changes. At their core, they are the same base style.

    The biggest difference with bivol compared to any other boxer I have ever witnessed is his ego, it does not exist, he knows precisely when to step it up and slow it down, he doesn't listen to noise from his opponent nor from boxing fans. He simply reserves everything with his body and mind. Every time I have seen an opponent try to put on a lot of pressure and attack, he comes back x 2 and instantly stops them from even having the psychological edge that they can make him feel uncomfortable. This takes much more than elite skills it takes a very strong mind. When other boxers are looking for weakness and trying to expose other boxers, bivol is only focused on his strengths, that is why he is different to anyone currently in the boxing world.

    • @snooz64
      @snooz64 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

      For me the biggest difference, as Opetaia said is that he makes very un-natural movements look totally natural. His boxing looks very fluid and relaxed while he is doing the most complex combination of footwork, punches and stance.

      @@snooz64 yeah I love Jai, I am actually Australian and I love the way he boxes too. These kind of boxers are extremely rare, as they also have a lot of pop and power, which goes unnoticed until after the fight and you see the damage they have inflicted on their opponent.

  • @thomasrobertson2225
    @thomasrobertson2225 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Very interesting video! The Soviet style of boxing was characterized by high technique, a strategic approach, and an emphasis on collective training. Boxers in the Soviet Union were trained in a system that combined elements of classical technique and modern training methods. Discipline, strict control of physical fitness, and psychological training were important points. Boxers were usually able to work effectively from a distance, using combinations of punches and dodges, which allowed them to better defend and counterattack. As a result, the Soviet style of boxing became known for its effectiveness and ability to adjust to the opponent. The book “400 Boxing Combinations” by Yuriy Ivantsiv is a valuable manual that allows you to improve your boxing technique by systematically studying and practicing various combinations. By studying the strength, speed and accuracy of punches, a boxer can significantly diversify his tactical methods in the ring. Combinations, presented in the book, help to develop not only technical skills, but also better coordination of movements, which helps to improve the overall combat training. Regular application of the described techniques in the training process helps to improve reaction and quick thinking in real fight conditions.

    • @tengerkhishig.s6807
      @tengerkhishig.s6807 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      You dont have to be taller boxer to fight like Bivol. Although it is said that Bivol uses soviet style, there is a slight difference in Bivol's footwork compared to traditional soviet style footwork. For example, when Bivol fights in pendulum(shuttle), he does the in and out movement on his whole feet rather than on his toes. Landing on both feet flat on the ground has a crucial effect on delivering an accented punch. An accented punch is more like a whiplash type of punch that is sharp in rhythm and speed.

    Good job on the ways and means of bivol.great to see the background and broad coverage of his russian training system, his coaches and trainers.bivol is a true stoic,doesnt know how to pronounce the word surrender,singleminded focus on the job in front of him.essentially a straight punched with a sweeper hook, m he is beautiful free puncher straight and extended arms.his range is medium to long.he shortens slightly to medium when punching in volume,attack being his strong point very difficult with his straight punching at range with both hands to counter punch,monzon had the height and reach and punched long and straight both hands with hook and upper cut,like bivol an effective straight puncher.very difficult to beat by counter punchers.excellant style and motion conventional and consistant,attack, defend,counter attack with volume 5 to 6 straight punches,with sweep hook.great style,old school boxing,straight lines,minimum bob and weave stuff.no wasted dnergy in fancy defence,move back,arms up ,the counter forward movement good long range attacking punching.straight and in clusters,then in shots of 3 ,defence for counter flurry,depending on the volume in the counter flurry,his rate will rise to 5 to 6 punches and more.great machine style fighter with supa stoic attitude,hard to beat.respect,great video.

    Historically, the Soviet’s focus was on Amateur Boxing as a de facto form of cheating. State sponsored amateurs would train full time and essentially be Professional Athletes competing against genuine amateur athletes. A major emphasis was on speed and points over Knock outs, which is congruent with the amateur rule set. This style discouraged Boxers in the USSR from turning Professional. The Government did not want Professional Athletes because they were a high risk of defection. Bivol has done an amazing job of evolving the Soviet Amateur Style into a comprehensive (and devastating) Professional style.

    • @markokarko
      @markokarko 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      it was not the style that discouraged the boxers but not being allowed to get a passport to travel to fight professionally, pro sports within eastern block were really non existent, they existed but athletes were usually officially employees of some state owned companies or members of the military or police, and their salaries were paid by those employers with occasional performance bonuses, they were usually given the chance to leave the country an try to get contracts outside long time after their prime, it happened in all disciplines not just boxing
      if you think that Bivol done some sort of spectacular adjustment to modify his boxing then you must have missed last 30 years of pro boxing where boxers from eastern block performed really well

    as Russian I can tell, you did very good job covering everything, things you say are true and accurate. as for Dmitry Bivol he is amazing in his craft and perfect example of what kind of people so called Soviet "regime" was producing :)
    I am sure that does not much with what you all been told 😏

      He doesn’t have one punch ko power, but he definitely has the power to gain respect

      All he needs is power to neutralize and he’s in total control. No need to KO.

      @uncletheoneshotkid3001 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He has power. Not one punch but he has enough to put someone out. He just prefers to stick to controlled blows favoring volume over everything so he remains in control and outpaces his opponents without getting caught while over committing

    Isaev’s and Mashianov’s training of Bivol never overlapped. Mashianov took over Bivol’s training after Bivol and Isaev fell out(which in itself is a long story and both Bivol and Isaev gave different accounts on how and why it happened).

      In other interview he said many interesting details about changing his style for pro. F. e. his last trainer teached him to remove head when make the strike. He make some modernisation in his pendulum step etc

    Wow, seeing that the Soviet Union focused mainly on amateur boxing, it’s clear that the Soviet school wanted them to definitely be ready, no bullshit. I like that. 🇷🇺👍🏻

  • @PassionateSpirit88
    @PassionateSpirit88 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The Soviet style fighters have an advantage because most boxers aren't training or much knowledge in that style. So it makes sense to learn how they counter the pendulum, the southpaw of Usyk and Loma, and other tricks

    Also must stand in front of him no bounce must go one on one you have longer reach against the ring use punches from the ring use pads using the ring to move off to hit your opponent hard and also dodging his big punches at the same time stand still there then using the ring use speed and power bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang

    This guy's a really good boxer. What he did to Canelo speaks for itself. He showed canelo there are levels to this, and that he is clearly a level above Canelo. However, on October 12 he will face a GREAT boxer who will show Bivol the same thing Bivol showed canelo; there are levels to this. Beterbiev is a level above and beyond. As good as Bivol is, he will be knocked out by Beterbiev within 10 rounds, no question. Cool story, inspirational, good technical skills, but when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object, somethings gotta give; Bivol's undefeated streak ends, but that will allow him the chance to go and rematch canelo.
