    Patterson, thankyou .
I would make an educated guess , that there is a three degrees of separation to that Visa to that person being approved ; in that , it will be either one of two things behind the process being made so simple for the person in question.
    a) the man has a buddy , friend of a friend who allowed it to be processed without resistance , because that friend of a friend , has a romantic interest in one of his nieces , or daughters , or best friend's daughters .
    Something in that ball park.
OR , it is a kickback situation whereby there has been a significant "donation" been handed under the table , in order to have that gone through , without fanfare or too much scrutiny and readily stamped with the stamper .
    Patterson .
Either one of those scenarios and maybe both of those combined .
    Perhaps.
That is my educated guess on it .

As for Watt being sarcastic and saying to Senator Paterson, "...if you are so concerned ( about visas being given to front line supporters of terrorist organisations) you should take it up with ASIO...!!". News flash for you Watt. Most decent Australians are concerned that a terrorist support should be allowed into Australia. Your department is responsible for the visas. Australia needs a Royal Commission into Albanese's life long support for the PLO.

Australia is a great country, with potential unlimited.
To be able to use that potential, it might be a good idea to remove those who are openly not interested in working for the country.
Seems there are quite a few on the public purse who fit this description.

I find it most offensive that bureaucrats act as if they are not accountable to elected persons who represent all Australians. Public servants who do not answer questions do NOT deserve to keep their jobs. Tony Burke DOES NOT have the best interests of the Australian people at heart. Nobody with links to a terrorist group should be permitted to enter Australia!!!

With the contemporary Australian Commonwealth Public Service , it would appear that staff are recruited on the basis possessing a First Class degree in obfuscation ! Shameful, shameful, shameful ! They come across as completely politically compromised or completely inept .

Politically naive public servants don't get promoted to senior levels. They are as accomplished as politicians in not answering questions, particularly important questions. And the Minister present seems to be responding in a deliberately obtuse and disingenuous way. Why?
The questions were asked clearly and unambiguously. The evidence was clear. The request for clarification was pertinent.
They (finally) pointed to the possibly compromising impact on possible reconsideration of visa status.
Hmmm ... I wonder whether it was less a matter of adhering to security protocols, and rather a concern that any answer they dared to give would not have been acceptable to the wider Australian public.
Please answer the questions Ms Foster and Minister - they concern the safety of my fellow Australians and it is not unfair, unkind or unjust for us to hold you to account for the decisions you take which affect us all. Simply put, we expect you to do the job that we taxpayers pay you to do.

That went out the window a long time ago buddy. Your living under communism now, all thats left is to take away the right to private property which is not far away and will be implemented under the guise of the government controlling all land and resources to fight climate change and save the planet. You probably should of listened to those 'conspiracy theorists' when there was still a chance to stop it. Too late now
