David, you should create a dating app where at the sign up a person talks to AI, AI summarizes their worldview and then matches people based on their worldview. Make AI ask everyone about capitalism😂 It might be more popular in the west though.. but better for you, you could earn more
The reason girls percentage on dating apps is low is because most of us associate dating apps with weirdos or being desperate i guess that is why also HelloTalk has a bigger percentage because it does not have the dating app image from outside so people are comfortable there. Also most of them are genuinely just there to learn a language
After reading about and watching this type of media like your chanel, it seems to me that lookism and sheer materialism is very much a Korean thing (or perhaps an east-asian thing?) isn't it and it also feels like it's a pretty real social trend no less. The way I see it in western people's behavior in this day and time , in Europe at least, first and foremost they need to feel attracted to a potential partner. And that means the whole package, which is way more than their faces/bodies and wallets. It's how you talk, the way you think and the values you share, how you treat the other, how you smile, the sound of your voice, your demeanor and such stuff that makes you attractive. You'll see a lot of western couples of very pretty women and average or even plain-looking men or handsome men and plain-looking women ... because they like each other just the way they are and what they mean for each other. I'd say that western mentality is way past measuring their partner's worth solely in looks and money. It's not that there are no such people, rich guys and beautiful women, etc... but that hasn't been the western mainstream for maybe a century or so now. And it's such so very different mindsets that make your society all the more fascinating.
Agreed. Lookism is perpetuated because Korea is a very homogeneous society where there seem to be rigid beauty standards that people adhere to and if you veer from this standard you are no longer considered good looking or thin enough. That won't change unless we have celebrities and people of importance that people look up to that start some kind of trend to look and act different. This takes time since these celebrities and important people do not want to be cancelled either so it takes brave people to start a trend outside the box
So your point is Koreans should adopt more Westernized values/priorities? Then how do you explain greater overall divorce rates in Western societies even w their "Holier than thou" values? Even if true, Koreans want to prioritize lookism/materialism above personalities, interests why does that bother you so much and so judgey? Its their culture and society! Your language and tone reek reductionism, superiority, low key Western cultural imperialism.
@@kimckawa woah, woah, take it easy! If you're going to react, use logic and facts. Don't react with emotions and spew out info that has no basis in facts, or numbers for that matter. I have 2 Korean guy friends who are divorced. I have one Korean lady friend who wants to divorce but knows that she may lose custody of her child and will also be stigmatised so she has chosen to remain unhappy in her marriage and is waiting until her child goes to university before leaving her husband. We aren't judging the obsession with lookism and materialism but we're pointing out that both of those things are not healthy for society and contrary to the idea that it makes people feel good about themselves, actually, it doesn't. If anything it places so much pressure on people to be who they aren't or who they are not able to be. It also leads to mental health issues and it comes as no surprise that the suicide rate in Korea is by far higher than it is anywhere else in the world. I assume that you're Korean and you're sensitive about what people say about your country. That's understandable, but you know what? Most Westerners are critical of their own countries so we don't get offended or upset when people point out the wrongs within our own societies. We agree with them because it's true. I think you need to take a step back, take a deep breath and really understand the Korean society and the things like lookism and materialism that affect Korean people themselves.
