This model is the most beautiful motorcycle i've ever seen in my entire life. this company is absolutely amazing. What a BEAUTIFUL clean design!!! I'm actually planning on ordering 450 in about a year. Saving money for the custom version so that I can pay at once. Gawd I cant wait.
My fantasy choice was a 450 shiny black with all silver pin-striping and highlights. Two mirrors. Shiny "eyelid" over the headlight. Polished handlebars and stainless exhaust. Brown leather seat and saddlebags. Tassels on the seat and saddlebags would be a nice addition. So would an old police style windshield. That's what i want. Get a garage built I'll slap the cash down and drive it home.
A year ago I left a comment saying that I’m saving the money for this bike. And exactly a year later I’m getting my 450. Tomorrow, which is 01/25/2024 I’m getting my 450 delivered to LA. 227 is the production number of my model. It’s super special day for me! Halcyon 450 will be my very first motorcycle in my life. I’ve never had a motorcycle before. I’m glad and happy that it is going to be this bike. It means SO much to me. You guys have no idea. I dreamed about this motorcycle for the last 5 years looking at the pictures and videos of this bike on the internet and drooling, daydreaming, that one day, I’ll be able to ride it in south Cali. And finally this day will come tomorrow. Thank you everyone at Janus. You made me a happy man.
We are so happy to hear this! We hope your journey is full of fun and adventure and we'll be cheering you on along the way. As always, don't hesitate to reach out with any feedback or requests. Enjoy your new motorcycle.
I've been an HD rider for 18 years (6 bikes - 3 Ultra's) and I still have my original 2006 Fatboy. Never thought I would ever own anything but a Harley. However, the first time I saw this bike I knew I wanted one. I'm driving down tomorrow to build my bike on Friday. Outstanding! I'm sure the hardest part for me will be shifting. I use my heel to downshift, not my toes!
Those are absolutely beautiful bikes. I really , really, REALLY want a 450. Someway, somehow I will own one. They just appear to be a bike that would be fantastic for those weekend casual cruises. No hurry, just riding to enjoy riding. What I pretty much consider to be a form of zen meditation.
Thanks for keeping up the interest! I have my deposit down and know I have a long wait so I will be learning patience as well. All good things come to those who wait. Also, the interest in your motorcycles where I leave near Chicago is incredible. Get ready for a lot more orders on 450's! For me, this is a bucket list item and when I can't ride anymore, I will mount it on the wall! Thanks for the great video!
This is the motorcycle 🏍 I've decided upon because of the ethos of Janus in sincerely making an effort to recapture the true authenticity of the origins of the American Motorcycle experience. It hearkens back to a time when things were more pure and uncomplicated about riding a motorcycle 🏍 and no outside influences by popular culture.
Man I love this bike... the price is just a bit high, but I can understand being hand built and very customized. I love the fact they are built here in Indiana. I'm in Indianapolis. Would love to get one of these at some point.
Start the bike, then put your helmet and gloves on. Check your mirrors and then that should cover the minute or two warm up. Plus you look cool getting all suited up so that's a plus.
We need a cross bar mount, when I get working I'm getting a bike and getting custom work done to it I'm a hang two pistol on the left side a bb pistol, and a semi auto pepper ball gun. The top of the hang gun will be parallel to the cross bar mount A pepperball gun is enough to slow a bear so you can get away at least and if you want to eat or something small game can be hunted with the bb pistol.. These two pistol are ideal in a survival situation
Very nice and detailed video briefing. Bike lockouts, etc., might become erratic/bothersome. I wonder if the Lithium battery is a good idea. You should include the smart charger as part of the package. Replacement Lithium battery may be hard to find in a pinch after some time. Fuel injection may be mandatory per CA/Fed regs, if not, a simple carb with no fuel pump may be cheaper and more reliable. 450 cc is more practical than 250/lesser capacity, where freeway riding is unavoidable.
Beautiful design but a 2 gallon tank won’t get u anywhere here in rural Texas I’d have to fill up 3 times for any ride once to go, once when I get there and again when I get back just so I can leave the house and reach the gas station when I leave the next day
Really wish the 250 had the interlocks of the 450. The sidestand interlock makes sense, and being able to start it in 1st gear w/ clutch in can be a lifesaver., which is why I've never had a neutral saftey switch on a bike. One guy said to me "well, you shouldn't be stalling your bike "👀. EVERY motorcyclist has or will experience a stall, whether from operator error or mechanical failure.......period.
I owned a 2016 Kawasaki ZX10R and if you by chance stalled it at a red light it was so frustrating and embarrassing because you couldn’t start the bike unless you were In neutral. So there you are all feeling stupid because you stalled so you hurry up and try to get it In neutral and of course you keep passing up neutral and going into second. It just sucked. Lol. Luckily it was a very rare occurrence.
Thanks for the video. Hope to have mine delivered in a few months. Question: When do you think you'll have the 450 manual on the Janus website just like you've done for the 250?
The 250 motor has the kickstart lever built into it. I doubt the 450 will have it as an option. The lever needs to be connected to the crankshaft inside the engine case. Since the 450 motor doesn't have a kickstart lever, installing it would involve redesigning part of the engine case to allow the connection from the lever outside to the crankshaft inside. That's extra R&D for a low-demand feature that probably isn't worth it for the company sourcing the motors.
We are working on it! You can check out our videos about developing the cargo rack to hear more about the upcoming pillion seat: th-cam.com/video/gYPusFe4U7A/w-d-xo.html
These small engines do benefit greatly from a "one-minute warmup", but it's not really a full "warmup", as much as it is more of an oil-circulation concern. For any internal combustion engine (water or air-cooled) a proper actual "warmup" is BEST done UNDER LOAD, at
don't take this the wrong way cause i really like the bike but over 13 K and no gas gauge, it is only a 2 -gallon tank would be nice to have more than a warning light and only 15 miles left, i wonder if there would be a aftermarket one that would work,
beautiful bike but ungodly overpriced for a 450cc Chinese engine. For 15k any sensable person would buy a fully optioned out modern classic bike instead. buy a Royal enfield and spend the extra 10k on custom work.
Why did you not do the side stand interlock like most sensible manufacturers do? Start with side stand in any position, but engage a gear with stand down then engine stops. I regularly start my bike on the stand and let it warm up while putting on jacket, helmet and gloves. Thats one interlock id bypass immediately, absolutely stupid idea.
Who designed a retro bike and has no kick start. As an English rider who has owned old british motorcycles I think its sad that you have put a Chinese engine on such a lovely looking bike, that would be a deal breaker especially the price you are charging. Lowest BHP in its class for the engine size is crazy and who is buying these from you ! Its not a quality product its just a 5 minute talking point, they can get a tattoo if they want a 5 minute talking point. It's just crazy price for a nostalgic image that will not live up to expectations and the engine may be based on a Honda but the ingredients are all Chinese which makes it rubbish in my opinion. Very expensive rubbish at that. Just saying
powder coating is an awful, flaky finish. I'd expect to find it on a 500 dollar scooter at costco. should be a discounted, unfinished version so customers can have it finished with real paint
After all is said and done it's a 450. I get it because it's a nostalgic look that's like nothing else on the market and being hand built of course would add to the price.

@johnneyboi7183 - So, did you pull the trigger?

I do think the young people do an excellent job though
at their motorcycle 🏍 company. Wish them all the best. Kevin Phoenix
I won’t be able to afford this bike for the next 3-4 years. But it’s awesome and I can’t wait to get one when I can.
Glad to have Janus on board. A great company with real people!

Wonderfully detailed. Very nicely done. Though I wish we could have heard her run for longer. Beautiful sound.
Thank you very much!
I really want this model, are you guys gonna make floorboards for the 450?
That would be sweet!

If I was to buy one, I'd want it with a kick start, carburetor and NO electronics
Yup. The EFI is a complete deal-breaker for me.
Very cool bikes. Love the retro style and nod to the past these bikes represent.
Thank you!

Is it possible to get a 450 Halcyon with a carburetor and kickstart?
How about putting together a tool kit for the road that fits the bike.
Why no kickstart, if I may ask? Could we see it as a future option?
The 250 motor has the kickstart lever built into it. I doubt the 450 will have it as an option. The lever needs to be connected to the crankshaft inside the engine case. Nice looking bike for sure. Still, at that price you're targeting a very niche market.
Omg what a beauuutyy. Love my 250
I notice rear foot pegs. Is there a seat option? Don't see any pictures on your site.
We are working on it! You can check out our videos about developing the cargo rack to hear more about the upcoming pillion seat: th-cam.com/video/gYPusFe4U7A/w-d-xo.html
@@janusmotorcycles Makes it more “sellable” to my wife, with a seat!

You can always drill the side of the tank to install an old-style sight tube, LOL
Beautiful
Softtail would be my choice
is there an option to add a kick start on the 450?
No, the 450 will not have a kickstart option
Can ride passenger , put riding pad and rear pegs
Bonjour. Je suis français à Paris. Est ce ume moto que l on peut acheter ?
Why no kick start?
J aimerais bien acheter cette moto et je pourrais rouler avec en France et vous faire de la publicité. Quel serai le prix de cette moto ?
Can you put fish tail exhaust tips on the 450?
Since it has the dual pipes we are still developing the fishtail option for the 450. But yes, it will be coming in the near future.
beautiful bike but ungodly overpriced for a 450cc Chinese engine. For 15k any sensable person would buy a fully optioned out modern classic bike instead.
buy a Royal enfield and spend the extra 10k on custom work.
how much does one add when below the lower mark.
TL:don’t watch, he doesn’t start it you don’t hear the exhaust note.
I love Chinese bikes. Not super high quality but fun as long as they are cheap.
Why did you not do the side stand interlock like most sensible manufacturers do? Start with side stand in any position, but engage a gear with stand down then engine stops. How do you say over priced in chinese?

What other hand built bikes are less money or offer more value?
Lol!
fucking first start guide and they don't start the fucking bike.. lordy
J anus hee hee.
U got to be kidding...right? What is that for?
