Suppression in 1-2 shots, splash damage, high chance to scare on kill, oneshots almost anything anywhere... Yeah bolter is kinda meta and boring ngl.
Are there any scenarios that it out performs the bolter in? I'm genuinely curious. I've been playing veteran for a while and it just feels like I'm handicapping myself if I'm not using it.
@@virn333 The best one by far is the MK XII Infantry Lasgun. It outperforms the bolter in taking out shooters split up on all sides. With the last talent that designates all shooters as priority and the one with 75% reduction in toughness dmg from ranged attacks your ult will never end and you'll feel invincible.
@@torm0I went for the monstrosity killer feat and I run bolters. If I go up against any big enemy like a bulwark or crusher they go down in a second, and any monstrosity goes down in 2 clips or less.

The faster reload and large clip size has much better up time than the bolter. I usually just deal with bulwarks and crushers with the power sword. It's ridic.
@@torm0 I guess it's just a playstyle difference. My usual group is composed of two ogryns and they usually clear hordes while I take out elites and bosses and gunners. That's pretty cool that there's so many playstyles for each class. More power to you for the way you play

Yeah but if you have good reload speed perks and abilities the bolter can actually be very good. It can one shot most basic enemies and is a solid choice especially on higher difficulties.
Thunderhammer and Plasma Gun: *aggressive smacking* PS: the Shotgun is MASSIVELY underrated. It staggers like a champ, deals impressive damage and has better range than you'd think.

You forgot the ogryn grenade launcher that just “doink”s a guy in the head, and then it explodes after a delay. Never ceases to make me laugh watching the grenade bounce off some guy’s head a second before it send them to the shadow zone.

I love mine, I play Zealot and use it in an almost skirmisher style. I'm in the face of the enemy but I can dodge back to disengage and take out some pesky scab before reengaging the horde. Fluid fighting is best fighting.

I found that the revolver and flamer are the two best ranged weapons for Zealot. The flamer outright melts hordes and even most elites. Plus if you have fan the flames it will even often stagger ragers. But if you're running a weapon that's good at controlling (Power maul) or killing (Eviscerator) hordes you can swap it out for the revolver. It's basically a mini bolter but its holster and draw speed is infinitely better making it actually feasible to kill or at least stagger an incoming special or elite and go back to waving your melee weapon.

@@Ian_Comics pretty much yeah it’s a weapon that you use only for hip firing bigger and tougher targets and single shot for far away targets like the damn snipers in that game pretty good to take them down on one or two shots maybe desperate enough if you are in a corner by hordes pretty reliable but the reload is devastating but then yeah you won’t be using it as often anyways for lesser targets
The OG autoguns from Agripinaa hits like a mf on heretic. The slower ROF can make bullet conservation easier. Coupled with the vet special, it basically is a more effective recon lasgun. Plus it pierces targets too!
not sure why you have 2 different catachan swords in this. the laspistol DOES have a very good niche: it pairs very well with zealot crit builds. the toughness damage reduction on crit works on both melee and ranged crits and when combined with the ghost blessing can significantly reduce the damage you'd take closing the distance on ranged enemies on higher difficulties. -Shred stacks also apply to your ranged when you switch.- shred stacks no longer apply when you switch. laspistol is now relegated to vet meme builds.

Im sorry but my commisar build with my las pistol is really really ellusive and honestly really deadly every enemy type nearly, especially if you put caprice/unarmored extra dmg in the perks. Unarmored enemies are usually really fast and harder to hit in the weak points, caprice armored are usually slow but super tanky but when you do the +25 perc dmg it cancels out the lack of dmg done and helps punch through the armor even in the body. Normal armor is honestly not important sense they are neither fast or tanky enough to be stopped by the pistol in more than a few shots.
Good horde control, but only for early game. On higher difficulties damage is rather shit ngl. If you really want to actually see the end of the horde you have no option but to use power sword. Extra damage from charge does help a lot. And yeah that special punch that staggers is kinda meh imo. Like you have anti-horde weapon with anti-solo special ability?
Was gonna get mad and realized this was pre-14 patch. Recon rant follows: Tho about june 2023- oct 2023 recon 6d was meta. Now 6d auric build require a lot more dont get hit! Player skill. Pre skill tree there was 75 damge reduction buff on active skill comboed with kill shooters to refresh active skill that made the build busted.
I can't think of any reason why one would use the shield for ogryn, it's useless for 99% of situations and doesn't do really any damage either. it's far better to maximize aggro and focus on taking out enemies and CC rather than just making yourself invincible while locked in place.
The heavy infantry autogun destroys specials and its tap fire its good against troopers. The braced autoguns are the closest thing to a light machine gun (high damage, good ammo but low accuracy)

Sadly, i run the game on lower settings, so for *some reason* the game doesn't render the shotgun properly, so I end up with a ps1 shotgun.

Las pistol is a great for melee oriented playstyle. It's not as powerful as the other weapons but it's ease of use and flexibility makes up for it.

The bolter is held back by slow deployment, slow reload, and being locked to 15 rounds. It's powerful, but you will find yourself without it often.
It wouldn't be lore accurate if they ever did nerf it.

Agripinaa mk 1 and the braced version of the autogun are easily the best guns the vet can use from my experience. Very adaptable to many situations.
