@@PWingert1966 I have been using my a6000 for quite a while now... It's amazing for what it cost... Lacks some of the advanced features on video... For photography I have no issue with it
I was very tempted to get the zve10ii as been waiting a year since seeing the mark 1. But the Ibis is a bit meh. And the 6700 is also weather sealed. So a bit of rain. I won’t be lost
The fact that the E10 m2 doesn’t have IBIS, Mechanical Shutter, and lack of AI features that the a6700 currently has, makes me NOT want to purchase it. I currently own the original E10, and the a6700, and I’m very happy with them. If I purchase another camera, then it will surely be the FX30. Great review and video, broham. 🥃
It just seems strange that Sony doesn't think "vlogging" cameras need real stabilization. At least the rolling shutter seems to be improved. It was utterly horrific on the first model (another strange move given who they claim to be marketing these to). Still a hard pass as much as I could do with a compact video camera.
Great video!!! thanks JARED for your work as always!!!! just one question..... no physical mechanical shutter..... does it synch with flashes using like Pocket wizards?????
Good camera for the price for sure... Also consider a used a6700. I just paid 1160 dollars for one. so for 160 bucks more you get everything the ZVE10 II has and more..
The Z-Battery may just be my deciding factor. I was looking at a Canon R10 and hoping for an R10 II rev but it looks like that may not be happening this year since the buzz toned down to crickets in the last several months. But the R10's small battery remains a concern as one of my primary deciding factors in its use as vlogging camera.
Interesting camera for video only, it's a downside that they removed the mechanical shutter that the m1 has, I get that it's a video centric camera but come on that was really helpful having it as a backup just in case
Good preview. I get the gripes people have about not having a viewfinder, but really the ZV series is for people who like me don't care for it. In the full review, can you check if Active Stabilisation is better in the Mark II? Mark I active stabilisation was pretty much useless even when holding for static shots. In 4K it was jittery handheld, but buttery smooth in HD mode (more like SD mode), sigh
Yup, need to take heat tests with a grain of salt. All of us creators always have had different results when testing cameras, especially sonys. Too many variables…
I'm on the fence, spend the extra for a "more useful" a6700 or save and get the mark 1. Why would you want the mark 2 over the a6700, what am I missing?
I’m 100% certain Sony made this camera for self vlogging. otherwise it makes no sense at $1000 with no EVF, it’s quite interesting they’ve decided to go with that choice.
looks like a solid upgrade. tempting, especially with the increase in resolution and frame rates. but the lack of IBIS and forced 1.33x digital crop on that kit lens make it a bit too close for a walkaround vlogging option. that battery upgrade is huge! sharing batteries across bodies is a major plus. the in-studio video looks great, btw
Thanks Jared! Since it doesn´t have a mechanical shutter it´s not any good for photos at all, IMHO. I use the version 1 as backup camera for events (a7IV as main cam) and as portable camera for private trips and I love it for this. That´s not gonna be possible with the version II because of the missing mechanical shutter. To me it doesn´t seem like an affordable camera at all, considering that it is 1100 euros compared to 600 euros for the version I and 1500 euros for the way better a6700. I was shure I wanted to buy the new version II right away because I love the version 1 but wanted to have 10bit video. Now I´m massively disappointed because of the way higher price and the lack of the mechanical shutter. No way I´m paying 1100 euros for this.
@@mac24x7 The ZV-E1 has an amazing sensor for low light video. It also has 4k120. It has the same sensor as the A7SIII. But it also has many the same limitations as the rest of the ZV lineup. If you don't need an EVF or higher resolutions for photography than 12MP then the ZV-E1 might be a good fit. I wanted to buy a ZV-E1 a while back, but decided to get something else instead. If I were in the market for one right now, I would get the Panasonic S9 instead. It is better for photography with a 24MP sensor, and it has better image stabilization than the ZV-E1. The one main downside to the S9 is that they have recording time limits. Otherwise I think it would totally wipe the floor with the ZV-E1 in everything except extreme low light video.
The screen on the original sucks. If SONY did nothing to improve it on this camera it is a deal breaker. My ZV-E10 I use for my TH-cam videos is unuseable in just about any type of daylight. Fro's right in that you can't read the controls. The camera works great in the studio but outdoors not so much. Rolling shutter on the original was really bad and the original kit lens distortion was bad. I need another camera and was hoping the ZV-E10 II was an improvement.
the rolling shutter is much more controlled on the version II but yeah, the screen is terrible. If you don't give me an EVF, I atleast expect a high quality screen
They should have just killed it off. $400 between this and an A6700 is too close. Even a used Panasonic S5ii is coming in at $1700. I was waiting for this camera, but it doesn’t make any sense.
I found a new S5II for $1,300. I was looking at the ZV-E1 before I found that deal. Now I am glad I didn't dive any further into the Sony ecosystem before dropping it.
