Hi. Great video! I just found out recently about discretionary pathway. I've been employed for a few years as LAT (limited authority to teach) in a special school. I have NZQA document recognising my bachelor's degree in psychology as level 7 hut but looking at you document it seems different. So I googled, seems what's needed is Teaching IQA, right? I wonder would they recognised only my NZ LAT and teacher aiding experience as I didn't work as a teacher in my home country. Thanks!
Hi! Thanks for your kind words about my video. Yes, you need an NZQA Teaching IQA as it's a requirement for applying for a teaching certificate with the Teaching Council. I'm not sure if other teaching experiences will be accepted, but in my case, half of my experience is also from outside my home country.

They don't offer IQA without teaching, as it's a different process. Typically, there's an additional fee for teaching IQA. You might be able to update yours to include teaching IQA for an extra cost, but I can't confirm that. It's best to reach out to NZQA IQA for clarification on this.

Hello! You can apply thru a discretionary pathway but no assurance that the teaching council will issue a practicing certificate. That’s what the officer said when I inquired.
My MSC degree is recognized as level 7 by NZQA...and 1 year B.Ed as level 6....can I apply for teacher registration now ?? am I qualified for that now ? or do I also need to evaluate my 1 year M.Ed degree as well to upgrade my my level 6 degree to 7

@@jnep6052 You need to do both. NZQA IQA na my teaching assessment muna. Pgnakakuha po kayo ng Level 7 pasok po kayo for discretionary pathway. Yun nga lang wala po yun kasiguraduhan😊
Hello! I wanted to know if your references were certified copies as well? I have some originals but two are only available by digital format. This is because I left the country before my employers wrote their references (Shanghai lockdown, left China in a hurry, etc). I think I can get originals from them but it would be quite a process. Hello! You can apply thru a discretionary pathway but no assurance that the teaching council will issue a practicing certificate. That’s what the officer said when I inquired.

My MSC degree is recognized as level 7 by NZQA...and 1 year B.Ed as level 6....can I apply for teacher registration now ?? am I qualified for that now ? or do I also need to evaluate my 1 year M.Ed degree as well to upgrade my my level 6 degree to 7

@@AnjuBattan Hi yes I applied through the discretionary pathway and was given a practicing certificate but the processing time was 6 months. Simply provide all the documents they are requesting for the discretionary pathway you will get it.

Hello! I wanted to know if your references were certified copies as well? I have some originals but two are only available by digital format. This is because I left the country before my employers wrote their references (Shanghai lockdown, left China in a hurry, etc). I think I can get originals from them but it would be quite a process.
