As a I8 owner I'm so happy to see someone with a guide on how to do this as it's been an option I have been looking into. One of the issues I have with this product is I have yet seen a video on it's use in any car. Yes there are lots of videos on people installing the product but none that goes through the options and showing it working. Maybe make a video showing the product in use. Another issue I am wondering is why pay big bucks for this. BMW will stop all over air support for older cars (I believe 2014 - 2016) due to G3 no longer being offered by phone companies in 2022 Feb. There are a few people I've seen that have done a retrofit to upgrade the Idrive to a newer version with Idrive. Does this product offer a way to over come this issue or from what I've seen it's just adding apple car play. For a few more bucks (Sure 400 -800 more) you get a upgrade unit with the options your product offers. Lastly will you guys be offering a retro fit option or a way to address the G3 issue. If not I don't see why this is worth the $600.00 bucks. Not saying it a good product but just saying there seems more options then just this unit.

Hi, here's the product demo: th-cam.com/video/qL2ob28iHls/w-d-xo.html&t
      As for your cost concerns:
Our CarPlay MMI Prime is CarPlay, Android Auto and phone mirroring, 3-in-1.
It is a hardware retrofit and has nothing to do with 3G and we will not do anything about it, since it is purely BMW's over air support issue. In terms of the head unit cost, BMW's price for a head unit featuring CarPlay is 2500 USD which is 4x as much as our MMI Prime (not 400-800 more).

Anyone one seeing this, it was Waaaaaay easier to install the MMI box after the Head Unit was back in place. You can literally slide it up under it (sideways). Hope that helps anyone

Is the cost still super high? $800 is way to expensive for this. There ate cheaper options for half the price.

Indeed there are, however of uncertain quality and no product or installation support. The cost of our CarPlay upgrade ensures the module works without errors and covers all tech support around it, which makes it more expensive than other eBay options.

@@bimmer-tech you guys promote plug and play so why would you need all the extra cost? Doesn't make since to me. Also I bought the touch screen 10.5 inch and was able to install it without a technician. Works fine for me. Not trying to knock your product just think its a bit over priced. That's all!
