DW’s Sarah Kelly spoke about that with the country’s foreign minister, Yusuf Tuggar in a special Conflict Zone from the Berlin Global Dialogue. How does he see Nigeria stepping up its leadership role, while it confronts coups on its doorstep, foreign powers positioning for influence on the continent, the conflict in Sudan and citizens leaving Nigeria because of economic and security fears.

The factor behind the coups in West Africa has been the failure of governments to cater for the needs of the people. Nigeria has to learn from these coups, if it must maintain its democracy.

True, the root cause like he stated was France’s failure in the Sahel (the fourth strongest military spent 20 years fighting a small group of fandits) and the NATO’s bringing down of the gaddaffi’s regime. Even though he said that like that. It’s the truth.

Kelly should really visit places in africa as a whole to understand the facts on the ground. Protests do happen everywhere in the world so why should she focus on making noise about africans protesting?

... well because this interview is about Nigeria?
Same as when journalists interview US government representatives, they can ask about US protests. And they actually get an answer, none of this "butbutbut there was a protest in Nigeria too!"
The end impression is that Yusuf Tuggar was simply unprepared to answer these questions and thought he could get away by deflecting and insinuating.
