I bought a standard gas cap replacement and that didn't work so I bought an official Honda Element gas cap and it cost about $50! The damn light is still blinking! I'll try disconnecting the battery tomorrow. Damn....
You are talking about a "push valve" to replace if changing the cap does not work. You went over it very quick. Could you elaborate a little more on that valve , where it is located etc. Thanks
The reason the fuel cap message comes on is because there is a problem with the EVAP system. This will not go away because you clean the fuel cap and disconnect the battery. It will come back on. The problem is usually the EVAP purge valve. Same thing happened to me. Nothing worked. Took it to a mechanic and they did not find anything. I changed the EVAP purge valve on my 2010 honda civic. It fixed everything. Seems to be a common problem with these going bad.
The reset button worked for mine, thank you soooo much the annoying sound of the warning ding was really getting on my nerves. Couldn’t blast music high enough to make it disappear lol smh. Thanks buddy good job on this video

Very helpful video. All I had to do was, open up my fuel cap and put it back on, made it click 3 times, got back on my car, turn it back on, hit the reset lil button on the left side, and it was gone. I shouldn't have quit ctc when I was in High School. Now I have to watch videos haha 🙈🙈 But yea man, you really helped me. Mine came up with this code today. It was not apparent when i drove to this work this morning. When i left for work i started my car and it showed up. Stayed on all day. Its now 9pm and its gone. Couldve been a weird sensor. But it is fine now.
Just clean the mating surface of the fuel neck and examine the cap O ring for cleanliness and damage and if okay lube the sealing surface with Vaseline but make sure you wipe off excess because it can attract debris and after securing cap drive around for a few days and you should be good
What helped for me is I turned my car off and then checked the fuel cap for any anything and once every thing looked good I put it back and turned my car back on and it was good
Good job, for a capless gas tank.. use the WD-40 and put it on the Honda funnel, then clean the inner flap, and reset the battery.. radio didn’t reset.. must be fortunate it didn’t
I bought a brand new seal and put it on then reversed it and the check fuel cap is still on. I tried pushing the reset and it worked then went back on. What now?

Dude you have some knowledge but where's the leak coming fro the evac system is under the hood too right any vacuum hoses that are leaking with set the same thing off correct you're not focusing under the hoses under the hood I've cleaned my gas cap and everything else I have a hose I have to replace it is factory but I'm sure it's this hoes I sent it I seen a video on how to blow smoke through the system do the system I haven't figured out how this guy did it did it but it showed the actual leak I appreciate your help but you should do more research

My 2007 Civic did this. After a new gas cap and years of headache it turned out to be the purge canister solenoid. Easy fix.

How much was the evap purge valve and did you replace it yourself was it easy?

Do you know if it will stop the car from passing inspection as well as if i ‘select reset’ will it cause problems
