For me, the closest thing to heaven on earth was Angelina singing the 'aaaaahhhhhh' in the second time with the first verse of Summertime, her winning song on Norway's Got Talent, when she sang, "Your daaaaahhhhhhdy's rich".
I think Angelina sang it with exactly the correct amount of intensity given the occasion. It is extremely impressive that she understands this time it is not about her showing off her singing prowess, it is about paying respect. Angelina is and will always be the best. No reservation ❤❤❤❤❤

So it wasn't about Angelina, but about Ms. Mohammadi. Three other women from Iran also sang and Angelina is partly (grandmother) Iranian. Yeah, I thought your reaction to this was very nice. I think all of us want to hear Angelina “blow the dust out” once in awhile, but this occasion just didn’t fit for that……and then she held us all breathless while she gave us those delicate final 3 or 4 notes that no one else can ever do. That was a good catch by you, with regard to her saying 'hunger' as she did. I have to believe that the simple fact Narges is Iranian, like Angelina's beloved grandmother, made her attendance and performance at the event that much more important to her.
What made her performance even more dramatic is the reason why she was there and why she chose this song to sing. The Nobel Peace Prize Award went to an imprisoned woman in Iran because of her stand for woman's rights. Her children (twins, a boy and a girl) now living in France accepted the award and the hope is that after years in prison she would be released and reunited with her family. Angelina combined both tenderness and power in her performance as a messenger of love. My wish is that the Iranian authorities who can free Narges Mohammadi listened to Angelina sing and will consider doing exactly that.
This girl doesn't need any aids and effects in order to sound good. She's just naturally gifted. A talent like that with her distinctive tone and style can't go unnoticed forever. This was also nearing the end of the Nobel peace prize where their were speeches, and talks with the farther, the Uncle, and the prizes was given to their twins ,who are the 17 year old son and daughter. Hi Aslena, Angelina held back with this performance cuz it was a tribute to her grand mothers friend in Iran thats in a Iranian prison for standing up for womens rights in Iran. Angelina gave this the respect it needed. Shes a class act. I believe this performance needed a little more of a somber approach, as it is honoring a woman (Narges Mahommadi) who is imprisoned in Iran. The woman's children were in the audience, and were accepting the Nobel in her honor. So of course Angelina wouldn't want the focus to be on her in this case. As far as Angelina's early performances, I thought about it, and yes some were very close to the original style and or sound, but many were not ie "I Put A Spell On You". She completely changed that song and made it her own (age 9) Then of course there is her iconic performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody at 13. To me Angelina has always had her own vision of what any particular song should sound like. Of course her voice and technique have grown better and better over the years. I was thumbing through YT almost 5 years ago and came across this show called Little Big Shots. I believe the fact that Angelina's beloved grandmother Mery Zamani is Iranian, fuels her desire in wanting to 'especially' perform at this year's Nobel Peace Prize event. Whereas Billie Holiday is her musical mentor, Grandmother Mery is her mentor in virtually all other aspects of her life. Not even Bobby Hadfield's 'Gold Standard' performances of this song was able to reach the depths of my inner being with the emotion laden penetration that she accomplishes here. It is a perfect tribute to a courageous woman (Narges Mohammadi) languishing in an Iranian prison for her attempt to bring women's 'human' rights to light in Iran. Once you know the background of Narges Mohammadi, you will fully understand why Angelina was restrained with her vocal choices. This performance was all about Narges and not about Angelina. I thought "Unchained Melody" was a odd choice for this event, but have since learned the history of the song. More on that later. Certainly Angelina was thrilled to be performing back in her home country of Norway, where she is a national treasure, but this performance goes way beyond that honor. She first performed at the Save the Children event at the 2014 Peace Prize event, when she was 8 years old. Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian. We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change. In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time". The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.

I listened a lot to Lana in the 10th, she was quite successful here in Germany, e.g. Video Games was a number one in the single charts. I agree she does beautiful songwriting and has a good voice which I like. Angelina met Lana, a while ago there was a picture on her socials with Lana, Angelina and Angelina's younger sister Juliette. She also covered a couple songs from Lana. She has Born To Die and Young And Beautiful on her cover channel, played Born To Die at Kongsberg 2018 with a live jazz band, and put out a snippet of Video Games on TikTok.
You didn’t hear what the MC said before they started the tape. To catch you up, the Nobel winner is a woman who is in prison for championing women’s causes. She’s been in there quite a while. I'd say that she doesn't exactly mimic on any cover. She slows them down, makes subtle phrasing and run differences. Since 9yo she has been impeccable in bringing here creativity to covers. Many don't pick up on the number of subtle changes she brings to phrasing and dynamics. Just my two cents.

While her careful, delicate take on Unchained here perfect fitting to the heart wrenching occasion, i would call the new Gold Standard for this song, her performance in New Hampshire is the most soul touching singing i have ever seen. I caught your comments at the end regarding Lana del Rey. I don't know if you are aware that Angelina has recorded two Lana del Rey songs that are considered phenomenal. Many think even better but I don't compare. Each brings something different to the table. If not better, I would say right up there with her. Born to die, and Young and Beautiful. Have you listened to EP of origionals OLD ENOUGH. She mixes genre cocktails. My favourites are NOW IM THE FOOL which has a MV. However the brilliant GOOD IN GOODBYES but everybody seems to have different favourites.
I love this performance, but may be in the minority in preferring her slower tempo performance of this song at Portsmouth a few months ago. The Portsmouth recording, actually any recording does not do justice to her amazing voice live. I generally prefer her otherworldly voice to have minimal accompaniment.

It has occurred to me that Angelina was experimenting with her voice through the earlier years and has now filled her tool box. And her body has matured allowing her lower range to become fuller and her total range to have more layers.

Finally, Ashlena, you're doing some Angie. You should now know why she didn't " Go off", so much. This performance is more of like a prayer " to quote another fan". This was a very reverent performance....as far as finding her voice, she's still very much exploring. Did good on this one. In honor of narges who is in prison in Iran for standing up for womens rights in Iran . As you folks know angelinas grandma merry is Iranian and they are very close so this means alot to angelina. So it wasn't about Angelina, but about Ms. Mohammadi. Three other women from Iran also sang and Angelina is partly (grandmother) Iranian. The song is an excerpt from the stream, which was broadcast live worldwide.
Yeah, I thought your reaction to this was very nice. I think all of us want to hear Angelina “blow the dust out” once in awhile, but this occasion just didn’t fit for that……and then she held us all breathless while she gave us those delicate final 3 or 4 notes that no one else can ever do. The way she sang Hunger becomes an other meaning when you notice the NP Winner is actually in hungerstrike in the Iranian Jail fighting for the rights of women. Angelina is always a great Storyteller 😢❤

to believe that the simple fact Narges is Iranian, like Angelina's beloved grandmother, made her attendance and performance at the event that much more
important to her.
What made her performance even more dramatic is the reason why she was there and why she chose this song to sing. The Nobel Peace Prize Award went to an imprisoned woman in Iran because of her stand for woman's rights. Her children (twins, a boy and a girl) now living in France accepted the award and the hope is that after years in prison she would be released and reunited with her family. Angelina combined both tenderness and power in her performance as a messenger of love. My wish is that the Iranian authorities who can free Narges Mohammadi listened to Angelina sing and will consider doing exactly that.
This girl doesn't need any aids and effects in order to sound good. She's just naturally gifted. A talent like that with her distinctive tone and style can't go unnoticed forever. This was also nearing the end of the Nobel peace prize where their were speeches, and talks with the farther, the Uncle, and the prizes was given to their twins ,who are the 17 year old son and daughter. Angelina was also 17 when she sang here on this day. Angelina's Grandma Mery is Iranian as well. This day was very close to Angelina's, and her family's heart as well. Hi Aslena, Angelina held back with this performance cuz it was a tribute to her grand mothers friend in Iran thats in a Iranian prison for standing up for womens rights in Iran. Angelina gave this the respect it needed. Shes a class act. This is the second time the nobel peace prize folks asked Angelina to perform.The first time was when she was 8 years old, then now at 17, I predict they will be asking her in the future to perform in honor of Angelina , With all her charities she has and all her humanitarian work for poverty kids throughout the world, She deserves a nobel for sure. I believe this performance needed a little more of a somber approach, as it is honoring a woman (Narges Mahommadi) who is imprisoned in Iran. The woman's children were in the audience, and were accepting the Nobel in her honor. So of course Angelina wouldn't want the focus to be on her in this case. As far as Angelina's early performances, I thought about it, and yes some were very close to the original style and or sound, but many were not ie "I Put A Spell On You". She completely changed that song and made it her own (age 9) Then of course there is her iconic performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody at 13. To me Angelina has always had her own vision of what any particular song should sound like. Of course her voice and technique have grown better and better over the years. When you realise the children of Nargis Mohammedi ( who is being honoured) were in the audience, who is imprisoned on hunger strike. It makes Angelinas choice of a hauntingly delicate emotional rendition full of longing .....just even more appropriate.

I was thumbing through YT almost 5 years ago and came across this show called Little Big Shots. Standard' performances of this song was able to reach the depths of my inner being

Ashlena, thanks for your reaction to this sincere, respectful, stunning performance by Angelina Jordan. Once you know the background of Narges Mohammadi, you will fully understand why Angelina was restrained with her vocal choices. This performance was all about Narges and not about Angelina.
I thought "Unchained Melody" was a odd choice for this event, but have since learned the history of the song. More on that later.
Certainly Angelina was thrilled to be performing back in her home country of Norway, where she is a national treasure, but this performance goes way beyond that honor. She first performed at the Save the Children event at the 2014 Peace Prize event, when she was 8 years old.
Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian.
We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change.
In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time".
The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.

You didn’t hear what the MC said before they started the tape. To catch you up, the Nobel winner is a woman who is in prison for championing women’s causes. She’s been in there quite a while. Angelina was being so respectful of her and sang the song with her and her situation in mind , adding all the feeling that only she can. Her two twin daughters, ages 17, were there to accept the award for their mom. It was all very emotional and touching, and as usual, Angelina handled it with perfection and grace.

One of the most memorable experiences of my life was seeing John Gary perform live in Seattle, WA, when I was 20 years old. He had such a powerful and beautiful voice that filled the whole auditorium. It was a sublime moment that I shared with my wife, and I felt like we were the only ones in the room. I'd say that she doesn't exactly mimic on any cover. She slows them down, makes subtle phrasing and run differences. Since 9yo she has been impeccable in bringing here creativity to covers. Many don't pick up on the number of subtle changes she brings to phrasing and dynamics. Just my two cents.

While her careful, delicate take on Unchained here perfect fitting to the heart wrenching occasion, i would call the new Gold Standard for this song, her performance in New Hampshire is the most soul touching singing i have ever seen.

I caught your comments at the end regarding Lana del Rey. I don't know if you are aware that Angelina has recorded two Lana del Rey songs that are considered phenomenal. Many think even better but I don't compare. Each brings something different to the table. If not better, I would say right up there with her.

I love this performance, but may be in the minority in preferring her slower tempo performance of this song at Portsmouth a few months ago. The Portsmouth recording, actually any recording does not do justice to her amazing voice live. I generally prefer her otherworldly voice to have minimal accompaniment.

I hope you realize Angelina was invited to sing with two other Iranian women to draw attention to Narges Mohammadi Who won the prize for trying to help women,s right in Iran was imprisoned 8yrs ago but had 31 years to do and 185 lastes.Angelina does a lot of charity work and her grandmother was born in Iran so they were excited to put her as one of the 3 women singing for the cause of women,s rights.I listen to your friend Lene Delray but I never compare them as theyboth have unique voices of their own.

This was a very reverent performance....as far as finding her voice, she's still very much exploring. Did good on this one. Ashlena. I do not think you understand the setting. This was not a concert, but the actual peace priz cermony. It is a place with much dignety. You do not over do anything (introduction, the singing of the song, etc)

In honor of narges who is in prison in Iran for standing up for womens rights in Iran . As you folks know angelinas grandma merry is Iranian and they are very close so this means alot to angelina. Iran is the country where angelina gave the homeless 6 year old girl her shoes and why she performs bare foot to this day and probablly will forever.
