    Tassets would solve the issue of exposing the inside of the hips without impeding ROM. 17th century pikeman's armor did a great job of simplifying their design for mass production.

      Very true, my only hesitance with those is a they’d hve to go over the hip actuators and im not 100% if they’ll stick out too far or not

    For the joints some Kevlar could be used to protect against shrapnel giving mobility and still all around coverage.

      Yeah im thinking of trying to maje some custom clothing at somepoint when the nect one is done so i can have kevlar in certain places, kind of like motorcycle clothes

    Far from a engineer or even mechanically inclined person but I'd gladly watch longer videos, especially since stuff like this gives me a lot of ideas when it comes to writing equipment for campaigns and more that I attempt to write.

    For vulnerable points between the rigid plates and to protect VIP areas that need to be relatively high mobility, consider layered skirts of spring steel and ballistic scale mail with an elasticized base.

    You may be able to look to Samurai armour for some inspiration. They were pretty varied, so there might be something laying around that could be useful protection wise

    The military armors up soldiers based on what types of injuries the troops suffer from. They look at the top casualties and then develop kit to address it.
    While it's a great goal to make a classic exo-suit you don't need to make the entire soldier armored to come up with a practical and effective design.

    Would you ever consider a q&a or interview? Most comments i see are questions after all.
    Edit: one question i have is will you have a metal layer before the ceramic, something simular to "adept armor" perhaps? A thin piece of titamium to stop pistol/shotgun threats where the ceramic beneath only gets compromised once hit by a rifle round

    • @MattExo-Dynamics
      @MattExo-Dynamics  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah at somepoint a Q&A sounds like a good idea, as for the layer of metal, i tried that for the ballistic testing i did i tried top layers of stainless steel, alluminium and plastic sheet. They made basically no difference aa they have to be thin due to weight and being able to shape them. - i havent posted any of that as in the UK theres some rules about posting gun stuff on social media, rules i dont understand tbh.

      @MattExo-Dynamics fair enough, a follow-up question would be what's your plan for sale? Domestic, international, and full set or piece by piece? I think you're trying to make 1 suit to do it all, which leads to plenty of compromises. After you're done with the primary set you should consider other modifications "bolt on up armor" seprate designs for more coverage but less movement or the opposite of a passive exoskeleton for scouts.

    it might be worth investing in some way to help the user figure out how far out the armor extends from their body. you mentioned going down stares, maybe some kind of little stick or hair protruding through the exoskeleton that touches the skin. when the stick is touched or bumped the operator can feel that and gets a clearer image of their positioning subconciously. some kind of flexible material, could be really thin and look like those little hairs spiders have. freaky!
    ur work is inspiring!

      Thanks! well im making an echo location hoodie with ultrasonic sensors and vibration motors, think it could be an idea for people with sight issues. So im thinking i can add the same idea to certain parts of the suit aswell

    something ive noticed about the helmet is they look very crude, i make my own body armor and have a technician(friend) observe my backyard tests because the entry costs of nij labs are extortionate. so i understand not putting much love into prototypes, but you could try reducing the crudeness by having a visor or a detachable mandable instead of a single piece, and also just adding a matte painted plate of steel makes helmets look very clean without too much extra weight i recommend 3mm mild steel, on top of the added clean look it adds to the rating more than you might expect, the only downside is it make BFD a bit worse

    • @MattExo-Dynamics
      @MattExo-Dynamics  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah your right, the new design has a flip down camera and screens. I cant fully finish it though until i know exactly which cameras im fitting etc.
      i was hoping to make the previous prototype alot less crude, with a carbon outer layer, but i kept having to modify it to fit and work better sp it got rougher every day.

      @@MattExo-Dynamics nice. if you do cameras, there will be some delay, not as bad as thermals or digital NV, but pretty significant in a firefight. maybe try out just a poly visor before blowing money on cameras. just my 2 cents. good luck. also some way to mount night vision will probably be necessary if you want any military contracts. something ive taken inspiration from when making my own coifs/bevoars and mandibles, is nova steel. they have been pushing the envelope in steel tech, and they look cool as well. they get III+ rating out of nothing but steel and padding. its crazy. but anyway. they aready look very much like space marines, just without the detaling on the mouth piece.

    What about using those foot brace things that go knee down, those that injure their lower leg parts, they usually come with similar thickness of plastic and sometimes metal from what IVs seen?

    Could you do a review of the exo suit is stalker 2? I remember them mentioning having talked with experts regarding the design of the actual skeleton. Perhaps you could debunk it or gain some inspiration from it.

    you should talk about the fact that most militaries no longer care about infantry even the us doesn't seem to put much effort into it if you look at the airforce in comparison projects like the f35 i think warfare really is no longer infantry based or that they seem to not really care about infantry because ultimately people are replaceable which is why we don't really have suits of armor because a politician doesn't really give a shit if you die alot of people think armor isnt practical but its more just not really valued

    • @MattExo-Dynamics
      @MattExo-Dynamics  หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Yeah i know what your saying, from what ive seen and studied the defence industry isnt necessarily focused on providing the best thing or whats needed, more what they can get massive funding for. I dont think its that infantry arent needed or wanted bur that anything infantry doesnt sound fancy enough to get the money, but an f35 made by a massive corporation and employer does. I once spoke to a company who suggested not using rechargeable batteries but instead use single use and through them away because you might get more performance. Because nobody cares how much it costs as long as they can validate the cost in some way.

    The US military and NASA want your location and the Russian EXO program😂... I'm no engineer and I'm not trying to tell you how to do your job or act like I know better but I think putting a I guess you would describe it as spaced piece of armor in front of the joints so it's not going to be perfect but it will help keep the armor there but mobility 🤔.
