      @@imamaliyuYou had internet in 2023, didn't you? Simple google search of 2023 electoral candidates & his name would've popped out. Input his name on youtube & videos about him would surface. Go to his party's webpage & their manifesto would have been there to read. But political laziness & irresponsibility would not allow us to do our due diligence. Most of us allowed influencers, bloggers, media houses etc to tell us whom to vote.

    Not true. Mr Peter Obi never said he remove the subsidy on day one.
    He talked about time to rationalize and eliminate the criminal component of the subsidy before deciding on how on phased removal after consulting with stakeholders.
    Deliberate lying to score a point destroys an argument.

    I had this argument severally with friends and colleagues. Our economy revolves around petrol. That subsidy had an impact we couldn't see beyond the fuel price. It indirectly subsidized labour, manufacturing cost, price of goods, and even the naira. The moment fuel goes up, inflation follows, the naira becomes even more devalued, importation cost increases and an unending vicious cycle.

    • @TruthSeeker19908
      @TruthSeeker19908 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is no problem with removing subsidy. It is the manner at which it was done. The best thing Tinubu can do now after creating such chaos & destroying businesses is to completely overhaul NNPC leadership. NNPC needs to be managed better. Another big mistake is to increase taxes and electricity cost at the same time

    A barrel of crude oil (159 L) today is $72, that makes $0.4/L (N660/L); PMS make around 40% of crude oil; that is PMS will cost N264/L (all this is excluding production and logistics cost). so no matter what happens as it stands PMS from Dangote refinery will be nothing less than N300/L, I suspecting around N500/L after all is done.

    My concern is that nobody is talking about reducing the tax that workers are paying. The subsidy removal has increased the burden on workers and has increased the revenue that states and local governments are earning. Why can't they reduce the PAYE that we pay. In Lagos for instance, the IGR the govt makes is quite enormous but you hardly can point at a direct benefit you gain from the tax you are paying. The majority of workers cannot afford to feed their families with the equivalent amounts they pay as tax. Business owners can transfer the burden, but workers cannot. If the tax cannot be reduced, then give workers subsidies on BRT, ferries, housing, etc. Gov Sanwo olu please try. Thank you.

He said subsidy in Nigeria is a scam that needs to be looked into. He even compared Nigeria with Pakistan in terms of fuel consumption. So, for Mr Adebayo to have said Mr Peter Obi promised to remove subsidy from day one is a lie. Also , Mr Seun Okinbaloye should have shown his competence by rebutting that lie. Professional journalist will not just be carried away by whatever any guest invited to his station is saying, he should be competent enough to fact check whatever lies he is saying to score cheap political points.

    Unfortunately, we all clapped for those who say they will remove the subsidy while we saw those that wanted to retain Subsidy as supporters of Cabals and enemy of the country, while we look away from the multiplier effects it would have on the masses. This guy knows his onions, but I am of politicians these days, their talks are most time differ from their actions.

    Subsidy removal is a great idea.
    Unfortunately, our govt didn't replace with anything better. No mass rail or alternative transit or a mass shift to alternative fuels and eleectric propulsion. So, it is what it is unfortunately.

    Subsidy is not sustainable, but, govt need to cut down the cost of governance. All these new jeeps everywhere should stop. 12:52

      They will never cut down the cost of governance, because they have 4 years or 8years thus they're swiftly trying to cashout before they signout
