    Think about a pre construction house - townhouse,semi or detached . They usually have great deposit structures which are spread out over time and gives you time to save before the closing. Plus it’s quite a fun experience to build and select interiors according to your taste

    Peekapoo a few thoughts from a born/bred Toronto person...1) buy a 1 bedroom condo w a den for an office - a two bedroom will cost too much...as much as a house in the suburbs 2) a house in the suburbs is ok but if you’re not having kids soon, do that later 3) downtown will come back to life soon, by June/July things will be busy - by end of year things will be close to pre-covid times...4) even a decent sized 1 bdrm + den will need a very large down payment so start saving cash! Good luck!

      Thanks John for sharing :) this was really helpful! Will have to think about things and plan for the coming years before finalizing..

    The financial buildings are all open actually. I still go into them, its on rotation and depends on the people who work there. Also shoppers is terrible to buy stuff from, try going to a freshco/metro in dt! Those classico pasta(better than PC) bottles are 2.99 normal and on sale it becomes 99cents!

    Get a house.. even a townhome , but no condo... more space is always better... but something you can afford mortgage on... don’t think abt owning it one day .. if your needs change , just sell and move out ... a basement that can be rented out will help you guys

    The best thing to do is to buy in GTA close to a GO station, the train will bring you downtown in about 30 to 40 mins. People use to live Oshawa, Ajax Pickering...

    It's tough planning your future. But please take it one step at a time. A condo may be better for you and Saransh, especially if you guys want to stay in Downtown Toronto close to your jobs. If not, you guys may have to move to the suburbs to find affordable houses(preferably a townhouse). Usually, condos are more expensive than houses.

    Don't underestimate the cold weather. It can be brutal. Always wear thinsulated gloves and coverup your ears and neck with a muffler. Also dont waste money on condo.. go for a townhouse or semi detached house even if you have to stretch yourself. Condo has maintaiance fee which starts from 500 minimum per month

    The further north east you go the cheaper. I live in Peterborough about 2 hours north east of Toronto. Have been watching your videos. It's crazy seeing how far you guys have come since moving to Canada. Peterborough average home price is just over $600 thousand. Our community has been growing so fast with folks from the city buying properties here since you get way more for your buck. GO bus service runs from PTBO to Oshawa then GO train from Oshawa to Union in under 2 hours. Via rail service coming to Peterborough with the Ottawa bypass route within the next decade.

    Most People in Toronto will never be able to afford a house. Some also buy above their means, so if one gets sick or loses their job they can’t afford the mortgage or the other expenses. When we bought our house over 20 yrs ago we based it off of one income just in case. (Interest rates were approximately 12-19% crazy.)

    DO NOT BUY A CONDO!!! Go for a townhouse atleast you will own the land .... Also houses are over a million dollars and if you are looking for a 20 percent downpayment you will need to shell out 200,000 $ which is not a joke. Mortgage will be 3k min per month other expenses like property taxes and utitlities will be there .so all in all you are looking at incurring huge expenses ..... DOWNTOWN houses are 2 mil and above btw !! Condo people buy for investment and rent out ... Mississauga is a good place but Oakville and North York have the best schools. Usually people buying a house look at the school ratings and buy.

      And if the decide never to have children would you still recommend this? She indicates that she is unsure but certainly not for at least 3 years. More space is nice but they gives up on the night life that they both so clearly enjoy. Also I don't think they could afford Mississauga. I think they would have to consider more like Stony Creek or Aurora.

    • @AttyDG
      @AttyDG 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JeremyMacDonald1973Desi people usually never decide never to have children. Even if they never decide to have children they should go for a freehold townhome where they will be the owners of the land and incur profit once they would want to sell the property. Freehold townhomes are smaller than semi or detached houses and not difficult to maintain . Buying a condo will only incur high expenses and lower returns .... The older the building the higher are the maintenance charges also the price escalation is the lowest .

    • @AttyDG
      @AttyDG 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JeremyMacDonald1973 People from India usually have children not now maybe five years down the line . Five years down the line everything will be out of reach since the prices are so crazy all over Toronto and Toronto GTA ... But there is a reason for that . They could possibly think Grimsby. But again it's upto them . But condo is definitely a Wong choice in the long run

    • @JeremyMacDonald1973

      @@AttyDG She is 30 now. Children are not out of reach 5 years down the line but they are beginning to move in that direction and she is being pretty waffle-y on the idea. Desi woman may never decide to never to have children but eventually biology decides for them.
      Thing is this couple has already shown that they don't really care about money (they don't save at all) but they really, really, care about life style. You're solution is to spend your midlife scrimping and saving and staying at home and one day you will have more money but you will no longer have your youth.
      One can explore the world and all it has to offer and never be wealthy or one be wealthy but never explore the world. These are both reasonable options and the answer depends on the individual. You clearly seem to value the idea of stay home, have children, build wealth. The question though is that the right answer for these two?

    • @JeremyMacDonald1973
      @JeremyMacDonald1973 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AttyDG Maybe - though there is an upper limit prices can go. The more out of reach it gets the more chance for a correction. Prices cannot get beyond what the middle class can pay because then you can't sell houses. There is an upper limit.

    Get a house not a condo . House will be a good option for long term . You have to check your credit line with the bank first . And try to get a house in Mississauga or Vaughan area it’s not that hard to commute from there . TTC is a good option .

      I lived in Mississauga for a year at one point and taking Public Transit from Mississauga downtown took a very long time. You don't just decide that you are keen to try the new Roti place a King and College for dinner tonight if you live in Mississauga and need to take Public Transport. You either get a car or you limit your trips.
      Furthermore the average house price in Mississauga is just over $1million dollars - the average price of a Condo in Downtown Toronto is $580,000. You want to consider the pro's and cons here carefully but for the most part if you want the finer things in life - like spending your evenings drinking cocktails at a trendy establishment you are far better off with the downtown condo. If you have little ones on the way then the house far from the entertainment district (which you won't have time to enjoy) makes more sense.

    I gave up my condo in downtown in December and moved to a townhouse rental in Brampton. It's not as fun, but the extra space is amazing. Being able to have individual offices has been AMAZING. And, being able to keep our work space separate from our living space is really, really important to us.

      You’re right! I know how much I crave for space these days. Everything is in the same room which sucks..thanks for sharing your experience :) I agree- having space is very important
