🤣 glad you enjoyed that mate, wish I could have got a few more on camera for you before they went finicky, once those little taps come it's always a hard decision whether to strike or not for fear or 'pricking' a bream and spooking them off.
You're probably right but I'd picked up on a couple of big liners and nothing there, the skimmer I lost gave a proper bite on double pinkie, it makes you wonder how these fish can barely move a 0.75oz tip at times when fishing braid.
Unlucky John, thought you were going to empty it early doors then dried up.Funny old game fishing.ALWAYS NEXT TIME mate.Keep it going.Enjoyed the vid and tip going round.😏😏
I thought I was on for a good day too Clive, but I'm having a few shockers just lately, I know we all have em but only some of us show them on TH-cam 😉
Hi John, only subscribed to you recently and really enjoy your commentary during these very watchable videos. Fished A&C recently and struggled ourselves in the strong Easterly wind and finicky bites. Canal seems to be holding a good head of fish all along it’s length. Cheers
Hi Andy thanks for the sub. The A&C's a great canal most of the time but it's definitely been a bit patchy of late. It's about time these cold winds cleared off, it seems to have been blowing every weekend for the past couple of months. Tight lines bud 🎣
i always found those deep venues unpredictable.... u ever try waggler , varying the depth to try find fish sitting mid water..? can pick up a few bonus roach on a rock hard day like that....
It's a very long walk - pegs in the 40's especially, so I minimise my kit to pole, whip and feeder. If the roach are there, you'll catch faster on the whip or short pole. Loose feeding in the wind is near on impossible to group it, its very exposed. The other problem with waggler is that the canal tows like mad when the lock gates open and generally you need to keep the bait static or inch it through, it was a busy boat day.
Better than last visit🤔 Those skimmers/bream must have been passing, maybe needed some more particles in first few feeders. Love the video and the angles to tip.
Thanks Mike. It's a dangerous game putting too much in at the start, I gave it half a dozen loads which was more than most who just went straight out with loading. I think the shoals have dispersed through the length although there is currently a decent shoal in the 100s, so they're on the move, possiby heading to Southfield to spawn in the shallow water.
🤣 it couldn't be much worse Des - shame I couldn't keep em coming, tried a very long 4ft hooklength but it didn't bring any more bites so reverted back to 18" and got a tommy.
Good to see you back match fishing Try a wand or very light feeder perhaps i thought after i saw the wind and you said skimmers were the target. Do match lads fish redworm anymore? All these shop bought worms look like untasty brandlings to me.
I'd love to use redworms but getting hold of them these days is hard unless you have a manure compost heap and I'm not allowed one 😭. The shop boughts are dendrobenas.
Great video John and to think you were fishing 2 miles from my house 🏠 I notice you are using Magnitude reels, I have 3 520,s and use them for all my fishing. Have you had any problems with line getting behind the spools? According to Des Shipp I might be over filling the spools but I'm not too sure? I just wonder if anyone else has had the same issues? Cheers
Hi Nigel, I think I was 2 miles from anywhere - it was a long walk down the towpath LOL. That was the 420 magnitude, I haven't had any problems with it, I also have the 320, actually I'm quite impressed with them for a mid priced reel. You may have overfilled slightly?
Thanks for another great video John, glad your back on the scene, do you think that lost fish cost you a section or lower placing ? Look forward to the next vid, Ian in the Borders
Not at all Ian, I think I would have added a pound to my weight at best, my section was actually p35-41 I was on 41), and was won with 8lb 4oz from peg 35, I needed 1 more good bream and that lost skimmer.
Enjoyed the video as usual. Like the camera shots of the tip going round and almost felt like picking up myself.
Glad you enjoyed it, I'll try to get more tip shots - need to get more bites first! 😜
Ye I was the same fella👍
Thanks for the video John, really interesting.
You're welcome Peter, more to come from the canal over the next few weeks and hopefully will get on a shoal. 🤞
love the new tip cam John, it had me shouting....hit it!!! great vid mate.

@@HOOKEDFishingChannel when it's hard, I think the gamble is worth taking!!

@@HOOKEDFishingChannel I know what ya mean, prick one, n they can be all gone. Next time tho mate.👍
very nice video John, bad luck on not catching one more slab to put you in the frame, cheers👍👍
Tried and tried but it wasn't to be mate 🤷♂️

Possibly a small maggot feeder may get you a fish or two when all goes quiet.good luck mate.
Yes maybe Clive, though i cut right back on particle an even went to neat groundbait. A bomb might have been a better choice🤷♂️, food for thought. 👍

Story of my life Keith😉
It was better than last week John 😃

Not sure if its me mate but not seen your vids for a while? You still been out??
Hi Dave, yes, I had a bit of a break off but have been putting them back on for a few weeks now, you might have a bit of catching up to do?

another hard one eh ,not a lot you could do but sit it out for another bream or two, better one next time m8
yeah I can't seem to get a decent draw, all the fish were down the other end of the canal...typical 🤣
