I often fish the Aire & Calder canal at Woodlesford. I don't have a pole, so I usually fish with a quivertip. It's unusually wide and deep by the standard of most canals and the tow is really strong when the lock is in use, so not easy to fish. My local stretch holds lots of decent bream and fair number of sizeable chub. I generally fish with quite heavy tackle for the bigger fish, using breadflake on the hook and a feeder with liquidised bread. I've caught a wide variety of species there on maggot feeder, including dace and trout.
Good to see a rod/reel angler holding their rod/reel correctly, using a 2/2 finger spread, I see so many anglers that do not even hold their rod at the reel mount
Kayleigh... I fish the aire/calder navagation close to leeds city.. I'm wondering does it hold tench ? I can only catch perch atm.. can you let me no that other fish do live in there 😂 thanks for videos too
@@trinitysmate silver bream are a species in there one right. 'skimmers' are a name given to small/juvenile bronze bream and a different genus to silver bream
@@trinitysmate Skimmers are not silver bream, they are a different species alltogether, if you look closely at a silver bream they have a very big eye for their size and have hardly any slime, thats how you tell the difference between the two
She is an inspiration to all anglers and is a gem to Prestons

Excellent advice and videos
great vid keyleigh. love natural venues. Canals are hard but well worth effort. give me 10Lb of canal silver than 50Lb of commercial F1s any day
Good video
My husband is curious if you are using preston margin pole ? is he right
Hi no its not a margin pole its a standard pole ( the XS90) 👍
@@KayleighDowdFishing My hubby uses a Dawia G90, he is thinking buying another but would like to try one from preston .
It seems that match angling is based around skimmers... Are they small bream or is it the different species
Yardplay MacBride they are just small bream
Different species, skimmers are silver bream, the big boys (potentially) are bronze bream.
