As an African I can say that the French have been operating a modern day colonial system in francophone countries, that's why they are generally poorer than anglophone African countries. The French uses these countries to prop up their economy, forcing them to pay yearly colonial taxes, forced to use the French Francs which they've abandoned for Euros, the French supports all dictators. You guys are wrong about colonialism being a small project, maybe by personnel and investment it was a small cost but in terms of power projection it is still very much profitable venture. That's why the French never fully abandoned it and the British created the world bank ICSID to protect their colonial investments in former colonies. That's why these countries can't reclaim those colonial investments/companies /land back, ask Mandela he wrote extensively about this and that's why SA have been Allies with the Russians.
"As an African I have a fairy tale explaining why my country is poor", a tale never seen before. Maybe the French are slightly less _altruistically, irrationally helpful_ towards their ex-colonies than the English are. Why does it matter, why should they be nice to you? All in all, billions more are spent on your continent every decade than ever were in South Korea, which started out poorer than the Congo after the war. If you'd actually been able to devvelop, you'd have done so already and gained an ability to defend your own interests by now. Lost cause.

Comment on hospitality culture. Deep South...... you have a knee high fence between sidewalk and front door (best if covered with climbing roses!) That way you can politely acknowledge a neighbor walking by, while on the porch. This is so you can engage without too much convo. just a hand wave and "good evening". Next gradiation....you have a deep set *elevated* porch with a couple of chairs. To engage with walking neighbor you can "step off" the porch.... but leave them on the sidewalk. Still retaining physical separation.... Short chit chat. Next, you invite said neighbor up on the porch (🎉🎉Whooppee🎉🎉). This is a significant honor. Offer a refreshment. Tea....with mint from the garden...no lemon, that's so "Applebee's" or "Chili's" (low brow, imo). Sugar, by the CUBE only, none of this Jethro Boudin, Beverly Hillbillies, shovel sized spoons (gasp!) And so on and do forth until you're comfortable ( in 5 or 6 years) inviting them into the parlor, aka 'living room' (uggh, what terminology !) As for the present day practice, especially with pre-teens & up of allowing a child's friend into the bedroom area is just BAD taste and creepy. Children stay in the "public area" of the house.
What Samo says about very modern noce upper middle class enclave's is so true. I helped my friend who is a veterinarian moved from upstate New York to Northern Mexico 2 years ago we drove my truck and a trailer all the way down across the border It was quite the adventure It was very mexico-like until you got to where he lived and it was his big gated compound and everything was very high end like all the richer folks walled them selves off. The only thing that was different was there were doing new construction on another building and they didn't have one piece of heavy equipment They just had loads of laborers because thats still cheaper. I saw the same thing in the Philippines when I went to BGC is like their international business city just outside of Manila. BGC was actually much better and safer then Americans cities down town, They have security guards and police officers all over and they don't allow homeless people or beggars and it's kept very clean. I was like wow Filipinos actually do a better job at running a western city than western people do. 😂
Your demon plague is behavioral sink, where the psychosis pushes those effected to do ever increasingly different things to try and find what works to keep the species going.
It's not perfect, because we have generational cycles that fit in here, as well as our rise and fall through different civilization types. But we have no where to escape but space.
The point raised around 7:40 about the leftist personality type is spot on. I’ll add that the proliferation of this type of thinking really accelerated in liberal arts colleges with millennials. It seems like these types either completely crash out and become complete victim mindset or they are burnt out and move to the right.
If medieval people thought "madness was contagious," it was likely at least in part because there were actual incidents of mass insanity when the grain supply in an area got contaminated with ergot. It would likely have appeared gradually as more people ate the grain, hence the appearance of a "contagion."
You are missing other psychological contagions: the Salem witch trials, the day care sex scandals of the 1980s, anorexia and eating disorders with young women are examples of a psychological contagions.
@@smhollansheadSalem witch trials 1690s.....coldest period (& midpoint )of the 400 year long mini ice age. I'm convinced this explains a large part of what we're seeing today, people are eating seed oils, psyche meds, etc, and we are witnessing the consequences of that on a societal scale. Hopefully RFK can make headway in cleaning up the food supply.
Hi Rudyard! I don't know if you'll find this message but I think it would be awesome if you did an interview with @Bob Gymlan on life in general. I think you two would get a long smashingly well.
Yeah my friend who moved from rural upstate New York where mind you cost of living is quite low compared to big cities move to a compound in Torreon MX is quite poor he bought this new very luxurious home for like $100k that would easily byle 10-20x the price in the US and he has maids and people do everything dirt cheap. I also have to say the food in Mexico is probably the best in the world and it's super cheap. I thought about moving down there to work for him but I can't speak enough Spanish and you really can't get by if you're not fluent in Spanish Not many people speak English.
You two are amazing together! Side note: I've never heard someone made the exact point about projected racism from liberal women as I did about two years ago! That's insane. I came up with this theory while explaining to my more liberal brother, why I think the woke movement is deeply racist. I didn't focuse so much on women being more racist but it makes completly sense why and matches my experience with women. Women these days often just have a very obvious "positive" racist attitude towards minorities, especially towards blacks, but it's nontheless very dehumanizing and naive.
I had a similar thought regarding millennials. I think this was an election (mostly) of Gen X & Z vs. Boomers & Millennials. The latter group is not taking this well.
Masculine gay men have the least hangups about being misogynistic because they view women neither as peers, nor as mates. That's an excellent point which isnt brought up enough.

We did not "lose" power in Africa. We let it go because it did not bring us anything but trouble. Francafrique was criticized on both political sides for obvious reasons. Think about how the US is tempted to leave Nato today. It's a little similar.
Completely understandable. I’m sure most French citizens are weary with the interventions in Africa in the same way that Americans are tired of being the “world police” and endless wars in the Middle East while our country is stagnating domestically. We essentially fought in Iraq and Afghanistan for my entire childhood with few positive things to show for it. Seems like the entire Western world is pulling back as China gets more aggressive. Similar to the immediate aftermath of World War II, except this time there is no strong United States to fill the gap vacated by the other Western powers. Even we are tired of that after about 80 years of being the global hegemon. I think the US will become much more isolationist again over the coming decades, like we were prior to World War I.
20:20 I was randomly watching an old episode of the suite life of Zack and Cody, and they had a scene where one twin dressed like a girl and the other made fun of him. I thought to myself “wow they could never make this show today because it would be transphobic”. It really is a sad commentary on how we truly aren’t the same country we were even 20 years ago

Your best option is that the far right take France, chaos ensues, and can finally break free
Lost cause.

TH-cam is thwarting your channel. Twice I began playing this video, only to pause and do something else. Each time I came back, this vid was missing. No usual vid player.
The second time I was distracted and paused the video, I tried finding it in "History."
It was if I had never watched any of it.
Thank you for sharing, happy to be here.
I've had a theory that mental illness is contagious to a certain degree, due to mirror neurons. You keep your body healthy to avoid pathogens, but do you keep your mind healthy to avoid psychosis.
Been perching it since 1980. No More Secrets.
Sugar, by the CUBE only, none of this Jethro Boudin, Beverly Hillbillies, shovel sized spoons (gasp!)
And so on and do forth until you're comfortable ( in 5 or 6 years) inviting them into the parlor, aka 'living room' (uggh, what terminology !)
As for the present day practice, especially with pre-teens & up of allowing a child's friend into the bedroom area is just BAD taste and creepy.
"Demon Plague Theory." Love this guy.
You guys have different editions of Tragedy & Hope. Are you aware that one of them is missing 400 pages?
Your demon plague is behavioral sink, where the psychosis pushes those effected to do ever increasingly different things to try and find what works to keep the species going.
Those who turn to self pleasure as theor escape from entropy are hedonistic and would be viewed as similar to our elites.
It's not perfect, because we have generational cycles that fit in here, as well as our rise and fall through different civilization types. But we have no where to escape but space.
Polybius saw this as well to some degree.

The point raised around 7:40 about the leftist personality type is spot on.
I’ll add that the proliferation of this type of thinking really accelerated in liberal arts colleges with millennials.
It seems like these types either completely crash out and become complete victim mindset or they are burnt out and move to the right.
I've always attributed 'disenchantment' to physics envy, an attempt to duplicate the successes of physics.
If medieval people thought "madness was contagious," it was likely at least in part because there were actual incidents of mass insanity when the grain supply in an area got contaminated with ergot. It would likely have appeared gradually as more people ate the grain, hence the appearance of a "contagion."
Not really what he’s getting at. He’s talking about social/psycological effects affecting whole groups, towns even nations.
Even more grain production switched to more hardy rye from more cold susceptible wheat.....but rye more susceptible to ergot, too.
Largest number of witch burnings in Scotland & Germany at approx same time, iirc
I'm convinced this explains a large part of what we're seeing today, people are eating seed oils, psyche meds, etc, and we are witnessing the consequences of that on a societal scale. Hopefully RFK can make headway in cleaning up the food supply.

Great conversation, thank you both!!
I would hate to be the "Joe Biden" of this generation
mocked relentlessly as the fleshly representation of your nation's decline as you shit your pants and lose your mind to dementia? No thanks.
Your opinions and actions are reflective of the divide for the purpose of chaos, confusion, and the disruption that creates the need for a solution.
WOKE is contagious madness.

Can we compare mexican cartels to warrior nobility/balkan tribes in late Roman/eastern roman empire?
I think so. Barbarians always flock to a doomed empire like vultures on a dying elephant.
Nothing noble in the cartel

28:50 In the past France also blocked several attempts of deporting refugees from Europe into safe zones in Africa. So their colonial system was completely backwards. It probably profited some people and it was about prestige.

Great content as always, but a pro tip from a tv producer to Rudyard: stopp saying ”and” all the time.
1st world and 3rd world in the same time and place IS the definition of medieval. and that is what the US is quickly becoming
Nice chat from some pretty smart Zeo Cons
