One of the best world cup matches i have ever seen. The tension, the quality of both sides, the drama, the goals and the reactions. What a match!

We had family friends over to watch this match. After the Fourth of July meal, we all went to our basement to watch. The family friends almost never watched soccer; in retrospect, they probably couldn't have been exposed to a better match.
This was quite possibly the greatest World Cup match, ever. Even the heartbreak for the home team seemed appropriate. Looking back on it, this was a German team still on the ascent - two World Cups later, they were champions again. As for Italy, they had such a fabulous roster, it's almost miraculous how it all came together for them.
I, for one, will always be grateful I got to see this match live, when it happened, with people whom I cared about. As a soccer fan and to a man, I couldn't ask for more.

The best part of this win was how sure the Germans were to win this game. How arrogant they were (fans, players, journalists, EVERYONE). Then came Italy... super humble, deserved the game, got two goals in less then two minutes and won the World Cup with 0 goals conceded except for an own goal and a non-existing penalty given to France. What a team that was!

Don't underestimate also Gilardino pass to Del Piero.
Simple, he did not see it, he created that spot. If you look at the sequense of the whole play from the corner kick, he takes the ball and proceeds to take both germans who tried to cover him and fools them so he could then pass the ball at the exact speed, at the exact place so Grosso could hit with his natural left foot. The crazy thing is that there were pieces of information everywhere and Pirlo processed them so fast and so correct it even seems Grosso is just an extension of Pirlo in that particular play... Grosso was a center back, I don't think he ever scored a goal like that before or after that. Cheers!

My mom will tell you there were 2 times in her life that she was hugged harder than ever.... one was when Baggio scored in 94 against Nigeria to save them from early elimination and the other was when Grosso scored vs Germany! Both times I was hugging her lol.

What a match!! This really was one of the best football matches in the history of the sport. Both exciting and high level teams and playing for it all. When you see the fans crying you know it meant something. Pirlo and Del Piero are my favorites. That 2nd goal from that beautiful blinded pass was second to no other goal. Amazing!!!

I had to travel 14 km on foot to watch this game just on TV because in my village the one we didn't had electricity and the only operating mator broke down.

This was probably the best rounded team in all of World Cup history, defence was a wall only allowed 2 goals ALL tournaments one from a penalty and the other was a own goal, the penalty was for a dive . Attacking forwards, 12 goals from 10 different players , midfield maestros in Piro and Totti and a brilliant goalkeeper in his prime.

Best world cup match I've seen was Brazil v Italy in Spain 1982. That match slapped the Arrogance out of the Brazilian players who made disparaging comments about Italian Football.
