Paints such a beautifully emotional picture of a sort of mix between a depressing detective noir and spy film where the mission fails and everybody dies.
I'm playing the bass clarinet for this and I must say I'm in love. However, for our concert we have a flute soloist rather than an oboe and I can't tell you what I prefer more. There's something so gorgeous about the sound at 2:10, especially with the backing horns! Very excited to perform this :D
This is so so so pretty....🥹🥹🥹💕 love so much, this arrangement is very nice and the performance also beautiful. Listening on repeat 🎼 thank you for the video
Aww man. This sounds like such a nice piece! I was there, I just don't recall Julian Bliss playing this. Maybe I was at the bathroom at the time, but that really sucks I didn't get to hear you guys perform this.
@@timrudenko1774 I know you replied to this months ago haha, but I'm sad you missed. Julian Bliss was absolutely phenomenonal. He played it beautifully. It truly was and is a piece that touched my soul. It's pieces like this that are so piercing that keep me motivated to face another day of life.
@@oliviabrownfield3636 Dude yes! I have to be honest, I didn't know who he was before this last WIBC, but he inspired me so much! I am very excited for this upcoming WIBC also, I was accepted for 1st clarinet, 7th chair for firebird. I am sad this is going to be my last year though.
@@timrudenko1774 Same! I didn't know he existed haha. It's my last year too :( I am in the Thunderbird band playing bass clarinet, I'm absolutely ecstatic about WIBC this year!!!! :)
@@oliviabrownfield3636 awesome! We might be able to see each other! Also, bass clarinet is such a cool instrument, if I had to choose anything other than clarinet it'd be that.
2:13 That's supposed to be a quarter note triplet as is written for clarinet 1,2&3, Flute 1&2, Trumpet 1,2,3 and oboe I believe (see the page on the left). What I've heard in this video is NOT being played that way. A quarter Note triplet is basically 3 *equal length* quarter notes played in 2 beats (1 quarter note is normally equal to 1 beat). The first two were too long and the 3rd one was too short, which is a very common mistake but most definitely *not* what Robert Longfield wanted in his arrangement.
Hi. How can attain a copy of the music accompaniment (MP3, etc) or the minus one?My daughter would like to play along this piece using flute. Thank you.
Cindy Santos We don't offer a "minus one" version, but you can download the mp3 from our website. If you select the link in the info box about this video (To purchase or for more...) it will take you directly to the our webpage for this piece. You'll find a link to the mp3 audio there.
Flat? As an Oboe player I can tell you that this is not flat! It is however a wonderful mellow sound! You're probably too used to hearing school bands who often play sharp! Especially as they get tired!
This peace of music is the most beautiful thing I have every heard I really love this it has such a relaxing sound to it this song just makes my day
YtBeachez I play French horn so the music is amazing and my girlfriend plays the medley where clarinet plays but she’s trumpet
We have this as our marching band ballad
Great Sound
that's a remarkable performance of Astor Piazzolla
I was first clarinet for this in high-school and that was 5 years ago to this day I still get nostalgia listening to this

the horns are amazing
We have soprano sax playing the solo at our band and I won’t deny that the oboe would probably sound better
I’m bass clarinet and we’re playing it this year
@@Schrof aw lovely!I hope you enjoy it :)
I f love this my band teacher played this with his sax he sounded amazing
I really like this arrangement.
yes this is really good
This is a beautiful piece, I would love to play it and do the Alto Sax Solo

Playing this at WIBC in Seattle, featuring Julian Bliss as the soloist, on clarinet rather than oboe. Absolutely in love with this piece!

I would love to play this but we don't have an Oboe in our small 25 person band. :(
Brina Bwes flutes can do it, they are in my hand
and the clarinet too
At a band clinic this year we had a famous clarinetist play it with us!
A soprano sax does it also very well ... No worry.
My band has 300 people in it... Texas bands lol
