If you want to live stream from the same laptop, I don't know yet how to do it. However if you use a different device, then I would use an iRig stream or a live sound card. There should be other ways too.

I want to use GarageBand instead of abelton to record video/audio. I want to copy a backing track into GarageBand and use a guitar for input 1 of focusrite instead of mic (not talking just playing). Would I be able to use the same setup from focusrite to iPhone for video/audio recording?

is the quality better with an irig stream rather than this way or is it quiet the same? coz I m getting some cracking sound sometimes while using this way u done in the video.( can it be from the microphone too? coz I m using the one came with the focusrite interface) any advice will help. thanks
Adding an Irig Stream to this set up will have a cleaner audio output and it will not cut out or choppy even if the big monitor volume from the Focusrite is on high.I used RCA on both ends with 2 TS 6.35 adapter to connect from Focusrite to the irig stream then to the phone.
Im facing the same problem. When the volume knob is on high, it starts crackling, I set the knob at 9:00 olock but the output is very quiet.
@Danle1111 I understand it’s a bit tricky on this kind of set up. Try lowering volume from the laptop then increase the monitor volume from the focusrite.
@@jenuds hi, I will try to add an Irig Stream device to this setup. Hopefully it will fix this annoying issue. I had to use another gainer App to make the output volume louder

Baka nasusundan nyo po at ang issue is sa adapter. Ayaw po ba magrecord? Are you trying to record to iphone or android po ba? Gumamit po ba kayo ng adapter? San nyo po nabili ang adapter? Compatible po ba sa phone nyo? Kung iPhone sa Apple Store na adapter po cgurado gagana.

I have been following your videos but before I bumped into this one I have a Samsung s21 +, connected to usbc port with an external dac, the audio is from abletone through the focusrite 2i2. Using a ts mono dual to 3.5 mm. However my feed is only audio from the phone mic. I will the splitter cable with mic input. I will come back with results
Make sure the splitter you get is compatible to your device otherwise it will not work.
I got the splitter still nothing. The phone camera receives the audio from the UK phone's microphone instead of an otg/USB signal

If you’re doing recording or streaming, I recommend use a headphone or earphone connected from the focusrite

Hi Jenuds, really useful video, thx so much!! When recording I can hear both my vocals and TH-cam audio thru my headphones, but video recording on Samsung phone is only picking up the vocals. Do you know how I ensure the video picks up the TH-cam audio as well please?
Most likely your phone is not connected at all and perhaps it only recorded the built in mic from your phone. I suspect the adapter or usb c to headphone/mic splitter to your Samsung is the issue. Did you check if it is compatible to your phone?
When the FOCUSRITE captures the sound, does it send it to the computer or to the smartphone?
In this set up, both vocals with effects from ableton live and music from laptop are send to the smartphone.

Hi! Thanks for the video explanation, was really helpful! But I still have a doubt. Is it possible to connect “cable 3.5 mm TRS male to 6.35 dual TS mono male” directly to “adapter Apple lightning headphone jack”? Is it necessary use the “cable 3.5mm TRRS to Mic and Headphone”?
In this set up, it is necessary. As per my test connecting directly the cable 3.5 mm TRS male to 6.35 dual TS mono male will not work for recording. There other ways to connect-you can use irig stream with RCA to Dual TS mono or lightning camera adapter with the use of usb audio adapter.

Hi, great video. I have tried this setup with many different cables to no avail, I get sound to the phone dongle(USB-C for Android) but as soon as I plug the connector in the volume drops 90% and it doesnt record?
Sorry to hear that. Very common issue is the adapter or cables you use. Some adapter (3.5mm female to USB C Adapter) is only as headphone for you to hear but won't work for recording or streaming. So far I got my adapter from Apple store and it work for my samsung s20 phone.

Can you please record again and add lots of effects like reverb/echo and tell me if it record your voice with lots of effects. This is to confirm if the voice recorded is not thru the built in mic of your phone. Also to check if you have the right adapter. But if you got it from Apple store then issue must be something else.

@@manuelsosa5692 Sorry to hear that. Since you recorded to your iPhone, very common issue is the lightning adapter. Is it from the apple store? Unfortunately I don't know yet which other brand works.

there´s no way to get the interface working directly using usb into the phone? i.e. iPhone 15 have usb-c and with an adapter can connect directly the interface, no way to get that mix into instagram audio input? I have tried and it works in Voice Memos, Garage Band but when it come to Instagram, keeps picking the embedded phone mic.

Is there a way this can be connected to a maono soundcard or V8 instead of using Ableton?
Audio interface works best using a daw. However there should be a way to connect them both.
Thank you so much for your videos! I have one problem, with such a commutation, the sound goes only into the headphones, the sound from the output to the speakers does not go. If I turn off the headphones, the sound starts coming to the speakers. I have a Focusrite solo 3 gen. Thank you in advance for your help!
It looks like there is only one volume control to both headphone and monitor speaker. Sorry I'm not really sure how to fix it. Have you tried turning off direct monitoring as that is the only button you try.

In most videos i've seen, they mention requiring an adapter with phone charging capabilities. Is this not necessary since the interface is going through the computer first? I just don't want my phone to die in the middle of a livestream.

It should but you just have to make sure to use the right adapter for iPhone or android if your phone does not have a headphone port.

Hey i have done the same way there is an issue i am facing and i am not getting it why its happening i have scarlet focusrite solo when ever i try to recrod through camera or voice recorder for checking the audio of music and mic quality its starts breaking i am getting broken sounds and i am not getting what is the issue can you help why my sound is breaking
What version you have as I’m trying to find the output volume control- you have to lower it if it’s peaking or having a broken sound. I get that if my volume is too loud.

Yes, if using a different device opening the streamyard. If on same laptop, there must be a way but I don’t know how yet.
I tried with my focusrite 2i2 the same way you are showing here with my laptop and Android device but when I do video recording from my android device the audio does not record audio as in your video. I'm not getting what the problem is. But it work directly when I connect my Android device directly with the focusrite main cable.

I want to stream live on TikTok without vocal effects. Do I need to use the software to make it work. Or can I just use the TH-cam for backing tracking and audio interface for microphone?
I can't really make a video tutorial on live streaming on tiktok coz I only have 200 followers @jenuds1 and not yet qualified to do so. I'm going to base my answer for FB streaming. Please tell me what gadgets/device will you be using?
What version of ableton did you use?
Ableton live 11 lite - software comes when you buy focusrite.

I have not used Autotune yet from Ableton Live. In this video I have used the Reverb preset at the middle part of this video.

Yes. I bought a lightning splitter (lightning to headphone and charging port. From there I still use the lightning adapter I bought from Apple Store for Recording streaming

You meant Rodecaster audio interface? That’s pretty expensive. I don’t have budget yet for that 😅. Or did you mean Rode NT1 A mic? What audio nterface will you use? Will you go be using an audio software? I only know a little for Ableton Live and garage band.

Headphone adapter
It happened the same for me when I connect it from the monitor output there is no effect ( my adapter is Apple Original ) and when I connect from the back is like it takes double the sound from my mic 1) from the daw and 2) from like the scarlet itself so I listen myself double + latency
If I want to do a zoom or a live stream with voice effects do I do a similar set up?
By the way I have AUDACITY. CAN YOU DO ONE WITH THAT?
Sorry I don’t know yet how to use audacity effects on live streaming. I think I will need some sort of plugin.

If you’ve followed everything in this video and it didn’t record/stream most likely the issue is the lightning adapter. Most of the lightning adapter you can buy elsewhere are only as headphone adapter which you can hear but it will not work for Recording or Streaming. I bought mine from Apple Store.
I have the same issue both while using laptop(fl studio) and also when I switched to iphone(garageband). There’s no recording on my other iphone. Not sure what is the issue. I’ve been using my lightning adapter with apple headset and its working fine. The cable from focusrite line output is also working when i connected it to speaker. I followed the same set up as yours but still can’t make it work.
Are you using a lightning adapter (lightning to 3.5mm Single) to your iPhone to record? If yes, did you get/buy it from Apple Store? Coz that could be the issue. Most of The lightning adapter if but elsewhere are only for headphone and won’t work recording.
@@jenuds thanks for the reply. The lightning to 3.5mm adapter is included on the headset when I bought the iphone, yes it’s from apple. I will try to borrow from friend before I buy a new lightning adapter.
If it’s the original lightning to 3.5mm comes when you buy the iPhone, that should work. Perhaps the issue is something else. For sure try first to borrow from your friend before you buy as these could get worn out too.

My problem still persist. I changed my two mono to 3.5mm jack trs cable but still while i take video from my android device it won't capture audio. I don't getting where the problem is. My Android phone spliter adopter also type c to 3.5 mm jack which is easily supporting my other songs listening. And one thing here my Focusrite 2i2 is 2nd gen. Can you help me here? Or i need to record through a daw?
It sounds like adapter issue. Question for you, are you sure if the adapter compatible to your phone coz i had to return a usb c to splitter mic to headphone coz it was not compatible to my samsung s20 ultra.
How do you check the compatibility of the cables. I think that's the issue. Especially with Samsung s20s, 21,22,23,24

You can try but it did not work for me without the splitter (3.5mm TRRS to mic and headphone).

I’m using windows laptop. Wherever you can find the “Preference”. Perhaps different view in mac.
If you’re using windows, normally “OPTION” is in line with File, Edit, etc…

In this set up, music from you tube didn't route to Ableton. As I said on this video, I am only using Ableton live for vocal effects. So both vocals (from ableton with effects) and music from you tube are route to the Samsung and iPhone in this video.

Where did u buy the ableton live ?
It comes with the focusrite. You just have to register your focusrite. You should check focusrite website and sofware comes with it.
can you use a usb blue yeti microphone?
Unfortunately I do not only yet what adapter works for a usb mic.
