Thanks for watching this video! Special shoutout to Thaddeus for the numerous meetings and talks we've had over the years on this subject. Special thanks to "The Hated One" for his awesome video content (please subscribe). Here's the PDF for this video: bit.ly/3gY1KGI. BTW, I was just teasing the Apple folks on the "fan boys" comment. I use a Mac for work and an iPad for home use. I'm still trying to get better at lighting my videos in a way that doesn't reflect on my glasses. Dear Lynda, if you're reading this, please subscribe to my channel. It would really mean a lot to me. The tips included in this video will only "help" to make you more digitally private and secure. It's difficult to go fully off-grid, digitally. Hopefully the measures put into place in this video will at least make me a little more annoying to track. Thanks for supporting my channel and stay safe! ~Cliff

Another point to add in about opening devices. There was a supreme court ruling that if you have your phone set to a biometric lock, the police can force you to swipe your finger or use your face to unlock the device. If you go to Password however, Androids (at least the two I have) will allow you to encrypt the whole phone.

@DTL not a dumb question but you'll have to Google your model and how to encrypt it. I have always found it pretty easy to do, but best to follow the instructions straight from the manual.

I'd add in for apps camscanner. Its a very powerful tool to basically turn any paper into PDF form. Can scan receipts, recipes out of books, important legal documents, etc for backups. Works fine offline or can connect to the net to send to e-mail or others. I'd also recommend bumping your $20 to $100. It takes up virtually the same amount of space & $20 doesn't buy what it use to.

Ever since the movie "TAKEN" with Liam Neeson I have looked for a very small cell phone to hide on me incase of illegal detention.I have never been able to find one of any quality.I have even looked at a smartwatch with a sim card to fit in a survival case. Hidden lockpicks and handcuff keys are fine, but nothing brings in the cavalry like a cell phone.

You could also use Briar for chatting. This is peer-to-peer encrypted, which means there is no cloud storage. So every message is only stored locally on your device and the device from the person you are chatting with. Unfortunately, you can't send any pictures with Briar, only text
Also, I would recommend using F-droid for downloading certain apps (and you can use Aurora Store to install Play Store apps without a Google account). Also with ScrambledEXIF you can remove metadata from pictures
With Shelter you can put apps you might not trust completely in a sandbox (using the workprofile of your phone)
I'm NOT a professional, but I hope these tips are worth looking at

    • @electroplaque
      @electroplaque 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Proton must give the encrypted information if requested, but the government must still use a lot of time and energy to break into it, if even possible (just try to break a 20 character random password). This makes mass surveillance impossible, which is good.

I have a Galaxy S7+ and I want to reformat it to default settings but WITHOUT any type of monitoring software or programs. I want a device that, should a technological world arises that I do not want to be found in, I still have access to media that I have downloaded for both entertainment and education. (My S7+ has a 1TB MicroSD card) Basically, a tablet with offline software where I can store my music and playlists, my movies (that I own), and training videos that I download (like TH-cam) that I may not need to know now but I may need to know when I will not have access to them. By getting a solar rechargeable system for this tablet I should be able to live without anyone knowing I am doing so.

So I went into our local pharmacy my little boy asked why a lot of isle had nothing in them to person at register. They said getting ready for the reset. What getting ready for the reset.did not settle well.

Instead of that sim remover, I keep a needle and thread inside my case. Comes in handy.

Superb video, although I have to disagree about the cellphone cover. I'd say, take a good flip-up cover in which you can store cards. A credit-card-size fresnell lens, credit-card-survivaltool etc. could be stored in the sleeve in addition to your mods.

True. I prefer having a standard wallet with RFID blocking.

Sorry for my ignorance but, can I still using the Nokia 3210 within the actual network? Like T-mobil?

I'd recommend Equate on Fdroid over ConvertBee. Equate is FOSS and has a ton of conversions.

What do you use for instant message communication? What are your thoughts on Telegram?

Telegram is decent for casual security, but it's far from the juggernaut of privacy it claims. Riot.FM might be a better pick, fairly certain it has Android and IOS apps and connects to the Matrix.
