You hear transformers prime music a couple of times when you see the deceased primes and when Orion is given the matrix of leadership.

honestly just watching D-16 slowly transitioning into Megatron throughout the film is the true bone chilling parts..but you know what stood out in the end is that as Optimus Prime is dueling you see hes not throwing hands unless Megatron really tries to get in a heavy blow...shows that even though he lost his brother he still wanted to see the good in his spark
16:54 yea, Sentinel's reveal is kinda predictable. You could tell he was a guy in power who didn't really have what it takes. But he's not the main betrayal in the movie anyways. They devote more time to make us sympathize with D and see his transformation into Megatron.

I was not expecting this movie to add extra emotional resonance to how Megatron generally refers to Optimus simply as "Prime" - because in this movie, it's specifically a rejection of their past friendship; "you are no longer my friend Orion Pax, you are now a Prime, a cog in the system I have sworn to tear down."

The Marketing did not do this movie justice, if only they had marketed it focusing more on it's story as opposed to focusing on the comedy

11:00, first to admit, NEVER seen that. There was something similar in Bumblebee, but...THAT! That was VERY inventive and SAVAGE!
This film is criminally underrated! I don't know if it's because of the poor marketing or it being outcompeted by some other film or something else, but this movie deserves better!! Let's hope there will be sequels to this.
It’s the marketing and the distaste bay caused, there was alot of films too ( all of them great except joker)
Alpha Trion`s alternate mode , because he is considered the OLDEST and most RENAISSANCE of the Primes, is based on the old Royal Crests of England, a Lion and (with) Unicorn(features).
While the Sentinel Prime twist was obvious, almost every incarnation of the character is a jerk and a traitor. It's kinda his thing in the TF lore, so fans already knew there was gonna be something fishy about him the moment they found out he was going to be in the film. Still, it would have been nice if they hid it better for people who are not TF fans.

It’s funny because the only Sentinel Prime I’ve ever seen in the Dark of the Moon one. So 1, the blue felt odd, instead of red, and I didn’t expect him to be so young like lol.

Brian Tyree Henry really out did himself with his incredible performance and his deep understanding of Megatron since always wanted to play the villains. Every villain of his and her own Story.
D-16 is not only a product of Cybertron’s failed system and takes on Sentinel Prime’s oppression though violent means all the social injustices he had experiences forged his transcendence into Megatron and building up to a rivalry with Orion turned Optimus Prime (due to wanting the same goal of a unified Cybertron but have different viewpoints).
But their friendship is doomed since they discovered that shocking realization their leader Sentinel Prime has sold out Cybertron to the Quintessons after betraying his fellow Prime brothers and sisters, and ruled his planet through oppression. D-16 has put too much faith in the system he has held on to until his worldview was shattered that boils up to anger and a personal vengeance after being suffered of the social injustices while Orion still kept his optimism by exposing the truth of Sentinel's corruption.
This what makes D-16 a much more of a compelling hero-turned-villain and tragic character in Transformers history. And the rift between two brothers. Both D-16 and Orion both wanted a unified Cybertron but each have different ways to bringing it into fruition.
I do agree that the Sentinel reveal was a bit too obvious. Ways that I would've improved upon it.
1) Slightly less showboating at the race. Sure, have him fly in, wave to the crowd, but not TOO much, if that makes sense.
2) slightly alter his speech at the crowd, though I'm not sure hoe without getting a different actor.
3) when Arachnid inspects D16 and Orion, have Sentinel come in, scolding her, telling her to leave as she's scarying them.
4) Have him both scold and compliment D16 and Orion for their efforts in the race. What they did WAS awesome, but also put themselves and others at risk.
5) He could tell them that he'll 'see' about getting Elita her old job back, but that will require time and paper work. He could also say that he might find some T-Cogs, and he'll give them some training to see what they can do, but phrase it as an offer. When he leaves, that's when Darkwing comes in, and the scene is normal.
6) following point 5, we can have a later scene where Sentinel inquires as to where D16 and Orion are, but Darkwing can simply say that they returned to the mines. Sentinel will then be informed that he has a meeting (this is him meeting the Quintessans).
I'm sure there's more, but I hope these ideas would make the reveal of traitor Sentinel less obvious.
Some good laid out ideas on the reveal. Ultimately it’s still a great film.
@@ChainsawReacts and this is without changing ANY scenes post reveal. This means that we see the true Sentinel, what he's like when the mask, or 'deception', is off.
I agree the idea that Sentinel's betrayal could have been handled less obviously. But changing how his scenes went or adding a few more scenes of him - or let's say, of Pax and D actually enjoying Sentinel's "penthouse" and THEN being tossed by Darkwing - might have hobbled the pacing of the whole film (which some have already complained has a slow first act). For me, still an 8.5/10, even a 9.5/10 (with nostalgia glasses fully on).
@JoshMD2009 oh, no need to have an entire mini arc of D16 and Orion in Sentinel's company. Just putting in the adjustments I presented would've been enough.

@JoshMD2009 actually, the way I presented it sounds even better. It presents Darkwing as the major antagonist, but then pulls the rug underneath you by revealing Sentinel as the big bad. Hell, we even see Darkwing later (I assume it's him) getting angry at the truth about Sentinel.
The Transformers themselves looked great. This is what Smallville should have been with Clark wearing the suit and fly while Lex losing his hair turning evil.
Brian Tyler did the music for both this film and Transformers Prime. Some motifs from TFP can be heard in this film's score.

I saw this on Sunday and I loved it I especially chuckled every time bee said badassatron and I liked Orion pax and megatron
This was such an incredible movie both Chris and Brian did a fantastic job man dose it get dark hope you react to the wild robot as well

While I understand your complaint about sentinel, every fan knew he was gonna end up like that because sentinel is an asshole in every iteration, so it was no surprise to begin with. I don’t think they felt the need to hide it too much when it would be obvious just based on his character’s history especially in bayverse since that’s the most well known. It’s more a matter of “what did he do this time”
This movie was amazing, great animation, great action, emotional, and well acted. I was very surprised by Bryce Tyree Henry and Chris Hemsworth. I was always ok with Hemsworth voice but wasn’t sure on Henry until I saw the movie. That “this isn’t over Prime.” had me like “yep he is officially Megatron now” especially how he lets out Prime with so much venom in it.

I was so on the fence about Chris Hemsworth playing Orion Pax/Optimus Prime, but he surprised the scrap outta me. Not only by masking his natural Australian accent, but by how well he conveyed Orion's/Optimus's emotions.
This also makes two legendary relics that he was worthy of in pop culture: Mjölnir (Marvel) and The Matrix Of Leadership (Transformers)
I saw it a few weeks ago and I absolutely loved it!! It was freaking phenomenal to see on a big screen!! I’m definitely pretty excited to eventually watch it again!
One of, if not the only, best transformers movies that came out recently, I loved it👍👍

Such a great movie! I'm a huge Transformers fan - collect the toys and have waaay too many - and it was interesting to hear your take as someone maybe not the hugest fan of the franchise. I think it's just a good movie in general, and I agree the marketing was a huge failure. Even I, as a huge fan, did not intend to go to see it, as the marketing made it seem like a Minions movie or something. It was word of mouth from my fellow fans that convinced me. I really hope we get a sequel, but given the disappointing box office performance, I'm not hopeful. And it's a shame, because this movie was clearly a labour of love for those involved.
As someone who recently watched generation 1 of Transformers, this movie is a BREATH of fresh air.
Most movies for Transformers act like their own thing, with totally different designs and even changes to how characters act and what-not.
The live action bay movies have a lot of mixed reviews, even though they're the most well known and watched version of Transformers (which is a shame in my opinion, 'cause those movies butcher the characters more than some people like to believe).
But I personally think generation 1 is the best place for anyone to start. It's fun! And has a lot of humor to it, and really gives you the best introduction to the characters and how they act and what they fight for.
This movie feels closer to generation 1 of Transformers than any other Transformers movie we have gotten! And I'm so, so grateful for it.
I've heard the Prime series is really good, but I'll always hold gen 1 as the best. I just had a lot of fun watching it, and the designs are better to me. This movie is DEFINITELY my favorite from any of the Transformers films (although the original 1986 movie is pretty cool also)!
I'm not the biggest fan of Transformers either, but gen 1 and this movie really sucked me in more than I would have ever expected!! This movie gives us what most fans have wanted for years! A proper origin story and a complete focus on Cybertron as a society!! I love it!
While I agree with you on the fact that Tf one was heaviliy inspired by the G1 cartoon, there are some other very notable influences which shaped the story of TF One. They took a ton of inspiration from the Aligned continuity (Transformers Prime, WFC games) and from IDW.
Most elements of Cybertronian society in TF One were borrowed from the Aligned continuity/IDW comics, like the caste/class system, elements like part of their society essentially being slaves, second-class citizens (Megatron low class mining bot D-16 origin is from the IDW comics and the Aligned continuity) just like Orion, D-16' close friendship, Sentinel being a puppet ruler (and being a Prime without having the Matrix) and Starcsream's backstory. Even Orion being a booknerd spending his time in the archives is a clever nod to the Aligned continuity/TFP where Orion Pax lived his life as an archivist.
As I wrote, D-16's Orions close friendship was introduced by the Aligned continuity, and D-16, Orion fighting against Sentinel, and his corrupt governmnet was a very important early storyline. Just like in Tf One, their friendship was broken, because while their goals were the same (a free society where certain bots are not discriminated) the methods they wanted to use to realize their this were pretty different. (Megatron wanted to burn down their society, and build it anew from the ashes, while Orion Pax believed that their society can be fixed)

I saw this in a big, virtual theater through my VR headset. _Prey_ also. Now I watch 'em all that way, lol. OMG this film was AMAZING on a giant screen. -And yeah, lot of us saw the Big Lie coming early on regarding the betrayal.
Let’s gooo! I can’t wait for you to see how this film relates to Transfomers prime later. (They are not the same universe but have some similarities with the backstories and whatnot)
The magic of this film, and what a good prequel should be, is that even though I have known 80% of what will happen before seeing even the trailers, I was riveted and on the edge of my seat the whole way through in the cinema. And it was also a great starting point for my friend whom I watched with, who despite not knowing much about Transformers at all thoroughly enjoyed herself. Peak cinema, so sad that the hardwork of so many people is not being paid off by box office success right now. Either due to poor marketing or simply being put up against tough competition (The Wild Robot is also an amazing film).... I sincerely hope that they will get a sequel. But also, being a long-time Transformers fan, I can also be happy if this stands alone as a prequel story, as I also know roughly what happened in the war and fall of Cybertron, and their arrival on Earth.
Also, this is my favourite version of Megatron and his backstory. Brian Tyree Henry cooked!

Transformers One was Definitely Incredible Prequel Film and My Third Favorite Transformers Movie.

Airachnid originate from prime, the miners are all g1 characters, everything about this movie shows a lot of love for the franchise

I think a good reason to try to keep Sentinel alive is that he's probably the one cybertronian that understands the Quintessons the best. If he was kept as a prisoner, even just a little bit of his knowledge could've been important in facing the Quintesson's in the future.
I think the ominous music when sentinel talks to d-16 and pax about the race gave it away that he was a bad guy (if you haven’t seen TF DOTM ofc)

@erikbihari3625 Obviously, he stopped caring after dark of the moon. It didn't help that the following 2 films didn't try to have anything more than explosions and fighting. Mcu was in peak popularity.
However, the bayformers had detractors from the general public since day 1, and revenge of the fallen is when people got more vocal because the only scene of merit in the film was the forest battle. The film had no actual script when they began shooting. It's held together by strings, duct tape, action scenes, and a lot of exposition.
Transformers One clears them all by having great action, incredible animation, and actual story with coherence and heart to it. Not to mention respect to the characters they were using. I'm just glad transformers one gets to be it's own thing detached from everything else.

@erikbihari3625 I give those movies their dues. They don't have a lot. Any and all merits disappear after dark of the moon.
After 10 years and seeing how much more transformers can offer. The military explosion bonanza that the bay films bring forward just doesn't do it for me anymore. Mikela is the best lead character in the first film, Lennox and epps are fun to watch, the first movie gets Optimus right.
Revenge of the fallen there is just pretty much nothing redeeming about it besides the action. The scene with Sam and the primes is good. Dark of the moon is fine even entertaining when it's not focusing on Sam's work search and early jealousy of Dylan. Still don't like Optimus just executing sentinel when he was defenseless, that's Megatron behavior.
I don't what else you want me to give credit for. The plots for movie 2 and 3 are taken from the 80s cartoon where they were executed better in the cartoon. I just don't think gritty realism automatically makes peak transformers. There's legitimate reasons that the bay films get flack.
On a production scale they're feats of movie magic. However it takes more than effects and action to make a good movie. I can give credit to the revenge of the fallen forest fight all day. It doesn't ultimately redeem a movie even Michael Bay himself said was shit.
Like bayformers if you want. Just don't bring hate to transformers one that isn't deserved.
I think I found you through your trivium reactions when the sim and the sentence was newish still, as soon as you said you’ve been watching prime I knew you’d enjoy this ( it’s my favorite Tf show along with beast wars and animated)
Yaeh. TF One took a ton of lore elments/story lines from the continuity TFP takes place in. (Aligned continuity)
The marketing I never had a problem with but the audience who got to see the film early had me suspicious because of both The Flash and Bumblebee going through somewhat similar circumstances. I don't think they're bad or terrible films, moreso referring to the Bumblebee Movie, but what those two films have the same problem in my opinion is people over hyping it when in actuality they're either simply good films or just something that didn't live to the constant praise/expectations.
Long story short is to say that TF: One thankfully didn't fall into that category and genuinely earns the praise it got and is getting with digital release

Where it all begans
When i watched the movie i agreed with Megatron to kill Sentinel, but i also understood why Optimus wanted to stop Megatron, because Sentinel could be punished the way he punished others, which is to take away his Cog, and to go through the same if not greater pains and work like other bots did, or something similar, because sometimes a grate punishment in living is greater than a quick death (Optimus probably didn't have this in mind, but something more professional, but this came to my mind).

one thing i hope they do if listen to fans is do ap requel series featuring the 13 primes. show off each prime personality and powers. amalgamous prime (the odd box looking prime) is the one to discover the ability to transform allowing the primes and other bots to turn into vehicle or beast form. solus prime her duty is to craft weapons with one of them is the starsaber which prima prime leads with. she also forged the tryptych mask that onyx prime wears to connect with sentient souls through out theu niverse and even beyond. plus onyx prime is the first beast morpher type transformer.
the two big ones is alpha trion and vector prime. this is if they follow old lore but those two have the most... "scheming" powers. trion can see into the future, not always accurate but he can see possibilities that can happen. vector prime literally can access the time stream using the blades of time. every universe (yeah a multiverse is canon to the franchise) got a vector prime thats always monitors it and someone did a vid of primes that died in the movie and vector body is missing. so again if stick to old lore then he slipped away before he died and watching all this go down.
i say "scheming" since they have knowledge of things to come meaning alpha could have warn the others even if its not cemented on events to come. this leads to vector probably fully knew, told him it doesnt matter since he saw what will be cybertron fate and if truly save it its not on cybertron itselfds but off world.
I think what made D-16 become more violent after the truth was revealed was 50 years of pent up rage and aggression. Think about it, D and other miners have faced abuse and discrimination their whole lives, not to mention lots of miners probably DIED from cave ins, and because D believed in the system, be bottled up that anger and resentment believing things would get better in time. Only to find out that all that abuse, all that pain, all that HUMILIATION he was put through, was all for NOTHING!? Leading to 50 decades worth of pent up hate rising to the surface where his ego also inflated as he never was gonna be pushed around ever again.
Honestly is it any wonder why he became obsessed with Sentinel’s death?
Despite the fact that TFPrime straight up calls it a 'T-Cog' and that it's used for transformation, it SOMEHOW took me till watching this film to realize that 'T' in T-cog means 'transformation'. T-Cog, Transformation Cog. I may be, not very observant lmao.
I'll be honest, I didn't have any experience with Sentinel Prime prior to this (at least remembered, I did way back when, watch Animated and some of the Bayverse movies where he is but I didn't remember him at all so), so I didn't know anything about him. I DID suspect he wasn't as good as he let on (I was thinking maybe he HAD found the Matrix but couldn't/wouldn't use it, so shady but not straight up a murderous traitor), but honestly MY give away that he was bad was Airachnid working for him lol. I know her from Prime and she's a baddy there so, anyone working with her cannot be good lmao. But also I don't mind him being obviously (to the audience) evil. It's fine, it's whatever. Tho also apparently him being anything froma colossal dick to straight up a villain is just par for the course for him so.
I was here for the Optimus and Megatron story anyways. We're not here for Sentinel's story. We're here to see how the reveal of what he was affected them, how it SHATTERED D-16. How Orion Pax and D-16 became Optimus and Megatron.
This is hands down *THE BEST TRANSFORMER'S MOVIE EVER!* They did an excellent job developing Optimus and Megatron as characters and genuinely breaking our hearts. Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry were both fantastic as Orion Pax/Optimus Prime and D-16/Megatron and they truly showed how much range they have as voice actors as you really believe their friendship and how much they cared about each other, but once they learn the truth about Sentinel you see how much they grow apart and how their ideologies changed them, even though you understand Megatron's pain and Optimus's hope for the future, it still drove them apart becoming mortal enemies. We never got to see their relationship develop in the live-action movies because it was too focused on the human characters; however, this movie truly makes you care about the Transformers. The origin story is great and develops Cybertron and the Transformers in a way we've never seen. Everything from the animation, amazing voice acting, the music, the plot, etc. is just fantastic!
It just disappoints me how poorly Paramount marketed this movie, and the Box Office for it was low even if it made back its budget. I genuinely hope the amount of praise this movie got from audiences and the fact that its the most highly rated Transformers movie ever, I sincerely hope all the love its been getting convinces Paramount to make a trilogy of animated Transformers movies set int his continuity because there is still so much potential to explore the brutality of the Civil War, the Quintessons, how Cybertron becomes a dead planet and why the Transformers had to evacuate their home?

@@erikbihari3625 Megatron's and Orions close friensdip was introduced by the Aligned continuity (the IDW comics had a brief time where Megatron/Orion were friends but they weren't that close). Megatron's name and his whole low class miner D-16 origin is from the IDW comics, which was later reused by the Aligned continuity.

Well, D-16 was fully bought into the propaganda. He was a card carrying member of the conformist society. Orion was an incorrigible rabble rouser who never paid much heed to the status quo.
So the betrayal for D-16 was like a family member being killed. While for Orion Pax, it was like a stranger being killed. D-16 wanted justice by way of killing the killer. Pax wanted justice by way of the killer being prosecuted under the law. He just didn't take it as personally.
That's one facet of how I looked at it anyway. It also doesn't assuage D-16's anger given that everything was happening within the span of a day and the killer of his dreams, was mocking and scarring him like, just 5-10 minutes earlier.

I love that Bumblebee...literally had Megatron G1 voice saying "Badassatron" lol. Also the fact D-16 became Megatron literally at same time Primus made Orion Pax - Optimus Prime is so gooooood. The fact that Primus gave back the cogs...shows his message all are one...was meaning that he wanted his people to be one and giving back the cogs meaning he knew the pain of his people. He was dormant so couldn't assist until a new Prime emerged. Yes and what broke me is saying a friendship crumble into dust :(

If you're familiar with other Transformers continuities, Sentinel being the villain isn't really a twist at all - all modern versions of him are jerks at best. The name alone is a tip-off.
A little bit disappointment because it was suppose to be Megatronus Prime who actually become The Fallen in the original story. Sentinel Prime is good but ambitious leader before Optimus. After Megatron rip off the Matrix from his chest, then later Orion Pax take up the mantel as the next leader. But....ah well, at least the movie is great in everything else.
